Grandpa Grizz
Here's some pics from Vegas. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v671/oceansflow/glasses.jpg Me on the Las Vegas Monorail. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v671/oceansflow/trek.jpg We were planning to have a Star Trek experience, but they wanted $40 a head! So we rode the Monorail instead. $5. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v671/oceansflow/wind.jpg On the Stratosphere Tower before riding the Big Shot. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v671/oceansflow/hoover.jpg We went to Hoover Dam. Julie tried to kill me. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v671/oceansflow/desert.jpg After Hoover Dam we went to Valley of Fire, where the end of Star Trek: Generations was filmed. You know. When Admiral Kirk died for good. We didn't go to that part. Once again, a brush with Star Trek. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v671/oceansflow/100.jpg We were sitting in the corridor waiting for time for Penn and Teller. This guy walks by and hands us a $100 bill. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v671/oceansflow/vegas.jpg I wish I had taken this picture! This is what Vegas looks like flying out at night. keneticdreamer
Grizz cropped that photo of Julie and himself on the wall, but written on it was the following phrase - "Danger, Keep Off Wall". Those rebels!

Rush Didact
Wow..... I have to admit I had zero interest in ever going within a thousand miles of Las Vegas before I read this thread, but the pictures of the desert have me reconsidering... I still want nothing to do with the city, but I'd love to see the scenery.

I still want nothing to do with the city, but I'd love to see the scenery. Las Vegas is the last place west of the Rockies I'd ever want to go. It's a very weird place. I just went there to hang out with kineticdreamer, Sweetmiracle and Julie. It is in a great location, though. East is Lake Mead. To the northeast is Zion and Bruce Canyon, etc. Area 51 lies to the north. West is Death Valley, southwest, the Mojave Desert. South is the Colorado River and southeast is the Grand Canyon. All of these are long day-trips. And... Arndrake
Hey, I remember all those places. Great pics. Craziest thing I did Sunday night was walk from the Mirage to the Luxor just to play $50 buy-in no limit Hold Em. After I had already lost $100 playing 7 card stud at the Mirage for 6 hours. Long walk. But seeing the sights of Caesars's, Bellagio, Paris, New York New York, MGM Grand, Excalibur, and Luxor was well worth it. Sadly, it was about 2 am, so the Bellagio fountain was no longer spraying. The walk from Luxor back to Gold Coast, where we were staying, was even longer. Now you may ask, "Why did the dumbass walk when there are so many alternatives?" No shuttle, I didn't want to spend $20 on a cab, and I could use the exercise anyway. Even at 3 am, it was still quite warm, so I was parched and footsore by the time I got back.
keneticdreamer
Arn, next time you go, check out the double decker busses. ("The Duece") Five bux for a 24 hour pass, ride all you want. Best transportation deal in town. The only thing I didn't like about that is it is really hard to find the signs for the stops. They are tiny and well hidden. But they stop at every hotel on the Strip.

Grandpa Grizz
The Las Vegas Monorail is another good way to get around. It's elevated, so you get a good view along the way.
Drumnut
QUOTE (Holdyourfireal @ Jun 7 2006, 09:57 PM)I'm going to Vegas 6/13 to 6/19. I'm staying with a friend & her husband Tuesday to Thursday and then the MGM Grand Fri to Mon. I can't wait! I LOVE Vegas! The Strip, Red Rocks, The Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, In & Out Burger! Yayyy!!!! In & Out Burger is childs play, if you want a real burger, check out Kilroy's. In & Out is fast food, Kilroy's is a sit-down meal kind of burger. It's not a fancy, expensive joint, but it does answer the question, "Where's the beef?" (besides that, they serve beer too)
