anagramking
QUOTE (barchetta90480 @ Apr 3 2006, 01:29 PM) At least it has some comedic value. Nothing's worse than those HipHop gangsta puppies who actually think theyshould be taken for real. And they don't even cover, the sample... BTW, let's not forget that a lot of Rush's debut had a lot of "stolen tunes"as well. I'm not too big on Rush's first album, to be honest. (And I suppose one could say that Red Tide is really Message in a Bottle.) But the thing about London Calling was that it was looked to by so many as a watershed moment in music, whereas Rush's first album (and Red Tide) are certainly not viewed that way. If the first album and Red Tide were watershed moments, I'd expect people to say something. At least with sampling, they're operating within the law. London Calling vis a vis Getting Better is an infringement. But I'm not big on rap, either. I think some of it is okay, and has some real feeling to it, and that there is skill involved in the rapping itself, but I don't listen to it very much. I can't say I've heard much in the way of musical skill or vocal skill with punk rock. It is the most atonal genre I've ever listened to, and I do not like atonality. I live not too far from the brewery ... NO WAY -- Tell me you have seen it - Please!!!!! Sure ... It's basically an old baroque monastery (on the World Heritage list, I guess) and used to be the oldest brewery of that kind in the world. Nowadays, their beer is brewed in nearby Regensburg. Nevertheless, they serve a dark brew in their amazing beer garden on the Danube - best to take the boat and not go by car, for obvious reasons. There's their web site (in German), BTW: http://www.weltenburger.de/ Click on "Biere" to find your favourite one ... Are we drifting into the wrong thread .....?
