This Was should never have been eliminated before TOTRARTYTD. Frankly I might even like it more than Stand Up. The first three are classics. This is a shame.

I'm more a fan of the Brick through Stormwatch era. The first three are more blues oriented, and probably weren't going to make it through to a finals showdown, but I agree with you that Too Old is THE weak link in a run of great albums and should be gone.

I love Too Old, and I love War Child.

Stand Up is the best of the first three- even more so if Sweet Dream is included.

 

Honestly I'd toss Passion before Benefit (especially if Teacher and Witch's are included) if all things were equal, but so many are saving Passion that I'm throwing out Benefit.

 

I love Stormwatch, and I'd like to see it last longer.

 

Of course I actually love all of these albums, but I am a huge fan of Sea Lion and Two Fingers so losing War Child so early sucked. My wife hates Tull, and probably hates the albums I love even more than the ones I find okay. She only has ears for those early blues-rock albums.

I mean, I don't dislike it, per say. I've never heard a "bad" Tull album, though I have only heard up through the first half of Stormwatch. But TOTRARTYTD is just so... bland. It's really rather flavorless Tull. Distinctly lacking the brilliance of the albums directly preceding and following it. This Was may not be reinventing any wheels, but it's a darn fine slice of very live sounding blues and jazz rock. Hardly dull.
