Alex’s Amazing Arpeggios Posted December 24, 2021 Share Posted December 24, 2021 I can’t believe that that it now looks likeOLA is now under threat ! :-( I personally prefer VH when they kick assas I think their importance as the act that , with theirfirst 2 albums , which were released (as we all know )in the late 70s , in effect dragged Hard Rock into the 80s. Without no VH & VH II you wouldn’t have had ...Ratt, Motley Crue , Tesla, White Lion , Bon Jovi , Europe, Extreme , Mr.Big etc( the list is endless ) Plus acts which were around before VH such as Whitesnake , The Scorpions and Ozzy’s on his solo LPs adapted & modernised their sound to a more VH influenced blue print. OLA has been under fire since at least the third round, it just keeps getting the immunity votes to be saved. Personally I think it’s the second weakest song on the album. Surprised OLA has lasted this long because I thought it was a deep cut that only I loved. A diverse album, considering the consistency in rockin tune on VH1, imo.Love it all but always thought DOA, LUTS and Somebody get me a doc were flawed gems but with the Doc being a particular fave of mine. Well it does have one of Eddie's best solos and riffs doesn't it?i.e. I can see why they all might divide opinion. Played the Doc to a Maiden/Pantera fan at work who hadn't dabbled in VH who just said 'Great riff but naff singing'. Who cares when the playing that's good!
