I saw this one and just HAD to post it!

LSM, DT Why haven't you 2 been posting some of the sweet fish you've been catching!?!

LSM caught a 3+ lb bass that she's not sharing photos of.

(Well, I saw it; but she should share with everyone!) new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

Sorry we haven't posted here in a while....I've had quite a good summer for fishing. I finally tried the Zara Spook & now switched to the Rapala Skitter Walk....I heart.gif topwater strikes!!! The bass go nuts!!!

Last weekend, on the 4th, I caught 7 bass...nothing less than a pound!! LSM got a sweet 2-3 pound smallie on that lure! LSM & I will post the pics soon.

BTW-got my first trout as my first fish of the season on a bass sized Rooster Tail....Wasn't expecting it but it was a great catch (as always, I support catch & release biggrin.gif)

I've given up or salt water fishing. Long Island is fished out, fluke is 18 inches so there are tons of throwbacks, and I feel like I'm just paying for the party boats gas every time. I'm not sure what the price is for a 1/2 day or full day because I haven't gone fishing in 2 years, but I'm sure today it's at least $65 bucks. The only thing I came home with was a $5 off coupon in case I come back. Not fun. I'd rather fish off a pier or drop a crab cage for free. Edited by hope70

I don't like saltwater fishing much....Nothing beats seeing a fish hit a top water lure.....

LSM will finish up those pics, I'll post them here on some of the great season we've had this year smile.gif

If you went saltwater fishing with me and my buddies you'd change your mind! Especially after we took all those flounder, redfish, spots, and whatever else we caught back home and fried 'em up! drool1.gif

Wow Troutman! Those are some beautiful 'bows. Unfortunately, I don't have good trout water where I am. I have to drive about 1.5 hrs to fish for some dink stockers...usually nothing bigger than 10 - 12 inches.

ONE of these days I'm going to get my hands on a fly rod... And I won't be letting go!

Just beyond our pasture there's a man-made pond that's perfectly set up for fly fishing.

Wide lawn all along one side of it with no overhanging limbs. I just KNOW it's someone's fly pond.

The house up above it is almost never occupied, so I have yet to meet the owners.

I'm still working on tying flies; but things have been to swamped for my Uncle & I to get together to do any fishing. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v394/Rhiannon_of_Rivendell/smileys/sad-smiley-068.gif

Walmart has a really nice set up to get you started. It is a Scientific Angler four piece 5/6 weight fly rod that comes with the reel, backing, fly line and leader. And it also has a few flies and a CD comes with it as well. Should cost around 80.00 trink39.gif

My daughter has the knack for fishing. She is only 4 years old, and each time the touches a pole, she always catches something. I should charge charter boats and let them take her out with them. laugh.gif

Here is her first fish she caught last summer.

Okay - I just realized that all the pics that I have are in RAW format, which the version of Photoshop on this computer doesn't support. So this is the only pics that I have just yet - from one day of fishing for Der Trom:

2 nice size largemouth bass and one really nice size smallmouth bass 1022.gif More to come when I have a few moments to go down to my pc and edit the others that we've caught this season - all bass save for the 2 beginning of season trout we caught.

QUOTE (BL2112 @ Jun 6 2008, 10:24 PM)
I have a crazy one. it's about 2 fools, 3 long distant phone calls, and 2 huge bass and a call to mom.

This was about 5 months ago. My and my brother started to go fishing with out our uncle. Who was our fishing guy, he taught us everything and he took us. So we went, going for little blue gill crapies. Will my brother catches one. And, his pole bent totally super hooked. It all most was jerked from his hands. I grab the pole and pull the fish in. it was a 9-13 lb. bass in a manmade surburban lake. I pulled it to the shore and it fought back out. and went down the shore. And then there where 2 big bass like that. going after the panfish. The panfish was killed and stuck on the sifle. We call our uncle and his cell phone. Hes in NY hoping to have him guide us to what to do. We get his voice mail. tired like 5 more times. Then mom. She comes can't believe how big. Take it out of the water. And put it on the ground. Two kids come running by and go WOW!!! THATS HUGE! and they helped us get it off the hook.

My brother has caught bass like that about 20 times. ranging between 7 and 12 pounds. I caught talipa in the lake, 7 pounds.

I've had days where I've caught a ton of bass but none were over 2 pounds. This summer, though, has been a little different. We been snagging bigger ones off a little area that I thought was pretty decent to hit last year but never did.

That's a nice story. I've heard of guys catching a smaller fish only to have a larger one get hooked. I wish I could catch a 7 pounder! Sounds like a great moment!!!

Thanks! The smallie was a great fight! If you haven't caught one, I would find a smallie haven & go from there....

They are an amazing fight. Last week, I caught a 3-4 pounder. This guy felt like a lot more!!!

I didn't know that....I found that out reading about bass sometimes ago. The sunfish family is large....Bass, themselves, are quite a large family as well. Largemouth, smallmouth, rock, spotted, etc....

Personally, up until this year, I never caught any other bass except largemouth. I didn't even know I caught the little smallie until RoR had told LSM that what was caught. She gave us a nice little lesson on how to tell the difference.....

The trout you caught are sweet!! I caught a trout (was the first fish I caught) on a Rooster Tail (bass size). He came from under the docks & slammed the lure! I'd guess it was about pound & a half.

We're hoping to get some fly fishing stuff too. We saw that Walmart had a sale on cheap fly fishing rods. They were being sold for $15 a piece but we didn't have the $$$ at the time. Anyway, we're hoping we'll get those next year & try a nice pond that is stocked with them....
