One thing about the new points system that bugs me: the winner doesn't always get the most points.

They should add a clause to the rules that if the winner doesn't earn the most points in the field, then they automatically get one point more than whoever did.

I think that is what they wanted. To reward consistency throughout the race.

I think that's fine... but however good anyone did throughout the day; the winner did better. Reward consistency, by all means, by the winner should always get the most points.

I look at it this way and I know there are scenarios where this would not hold true but if a guy runs in the mid 20's all day and then wins late because of pit strategy or untimely caution or something like that, that guy shouldn't necessarily get more points than the guy who finished 2nd and ran top 5 all day.

I think what "Monster" wants is more aggressive driving throughout the race. The "riding around" until the final 20 laps for the past few years was mind numbing. So I believe that drivers like Jimmie Johnson will realise to get the most points you will need to be aggressive throughout the race. I think it's a win/win for the future of the sport. Just my opinion...

Sure he should- he won the race.

The is the first time in NASCAR history that it has been possible for the 2nd place car to outscore the winner. Even if the winner only carries an advantage of one point, sobeit. The winner WON the damn race, and however he got there, he got there. Nobody else did better- that goes for the whole day.

Agree to disagree I guess.

If that wasn't intended then I am sure they will change it.

The point now is to make the chase. Having the occasional race winner get a few less points than the second place car isn't going to have much impact on who makes the chase.

Always some crazy s--t going on at Talledega, got a feeling the hot and heavy gang will end up as the wrecked and ravaged gang.

Daniel Suarez for the win.
