  1. Thanks for sharing! I saw them on tour in Rio in 1995, it was the 100th show of that tour, but thy didn't play this one. Awesome version!
  2. QUOTE (micgtr71 @ Jan 2 2012, 06:25 AM) I'm just amazed that they are still going. I thought HYF was going to be their last. Then I thought T4E was going to be there last especially due to the problems Neil went through. At close to 41 years old and nearly 30 years of my relationship with them, I am glad for what I can get. If they do, great. If they do not, I still think that it has been a great ride. Not just a good posting, but one of the best postings ever. This sums up my relationship with Rush at the moment.
  3. Dude, do you work on a music store or for Wikipedia, by any chance?
  4. Why is everyone all of a sudden mentioning the mods? I thought The Who fans had evolved...are you guys still in the 60's hangover?
  5. Is the same image of the cover the one on on Alex's bass drum?
  6. I've seen them 4 times in Brazil, and have plans to see them in Canada on the next tour. The idea is to take 15 days off towards the end of 2012 and try to catch up at least two dates in Toronto, then see a bit more of Canada.
  7. QUOTE (The Owl @ Dec 21 2011, 06:49 AM) I love how this day conecides with my birthday! Happy birthday!!!
  8. QUOTE (Invisible To Telescopic Eye @ Dec 21 2011, 05:50 AM) Awesome...but my calender reads 1221... Just change the format, mate. And while we're at it, start using meters instead of miles, Celsius instead of Fahrenheit, kilos instead of pounds...it would be SO much easier!
  9. I was gonna post it here, but you beat me to it! I have something quite special today, not in terms of celebrating Rush or anything, but my life is about to turn 180 degrees (hopefully). I'll let you guys know as soon as I go through it. Happy 2112 everyone!
  10. Ah, yes...the work of a derivative, repetitive musician, who couldn't play drums to save his life: He REALLY sucks, doesn't he?
  11. QUOTE (the masked drummer @ Dec 19 2011, 12:56 PM) QUOTE (Del_Duio @ Dec 19 2011, 12:00 PM) QUOTE (tick @ Dec 19 2011, 08:12 AM) QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Dec 19 2011, 01:09 AM) http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermo...wsitemID=167305 Mike Portnoy's latest criticism is that Build Me Up, Break Me Down is a copy of the Red song Feed The Machine. I just listened to the song and I don't really know what to think. The intro and outro are very similar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4y3xPe6iVU I don't want to start a Portnoy bash-fest but he really shouldn't be talking since Never Enough is almost identical to Hysteria by Muse. If he was still in the band and they wrote BMU, BMD he'd probably say that they were just inspired by the song. Its kind of funny since first he said that BMU, BMD was a ripoff of Surrounded. So technically Red copied Dream Theater and then DT in return copied them. Its all been done before. Does Portnoy that know that Dream Theater has sounded similar to many bands through the years? C'mon Mike. Peruvian Skies = Pink Floyd / black album era Metallica The Test That Stumped Them All = ride the lightning era Metallica A couple I can't think of right now sound a ton like Muse, too. Portnoy's posts about DT's recent successes really do sound like he thinks he made a big mistake about leaving the band. Off topic, but does anybody know if there's going to be a new DVD for their 2011 tour? Mikey made his bed and now he's gotta lay in it... The smartest thing for him to do is be a good sport and praise their new work. If he keeps bashing them it just looks like he's jealous. Fans and dt themselves would respect mike much more if he would smile and stay positive. The way it stands I don't even think death (of mangini) would cause mp to be considered to join dt again. He's building a wall like roger waters did with pink floyd. "Time wounds all heels"! In that respect, I think the DT guys have had a completely different approach than Mike's. "Ok, so we have no drummer; let's get the absolute best one available, record a new album, hit the road and get on with it". If anyone should be bitter, it's the guys in DT, and they're not even mentioning Mike anymore in interviews. The only thing they're doing in terms of retaliation is that they're not playing Mike's songs on the new tour, but I'm sure that will change too.
  12. Yes, the two songs are absurdly similar, and of course, Petrucci was inspired about the Red one and came up with Build me Up, Break Me Down. But someone needs to tell Portnoy to LET GO of his previous band. He's been out of DT for more than a year now, and keeps saying he's doing great and all that, but how come he never misses a chance at a stabbing his former bandmates in the back? If I didn't know the full story, I'd assume he was fired from the band... I love Mike and almost everything he's played on, but he just needs to stop posting anything related to DT. It's getting more and more embarassing for him at every post.
  13. Does this mean that the Caravan/BU2B EP will turn into a rarity?

Orchestra?? they're coming with an orchestra? that'll be cool! anyone seen them in recent years? Gillan's voice holding up? what's Steve Morse Like? Ian Paice!! Gillans voice isn't what it used to be , but the show was amazing...Never known anything so loud in the pit apart from Airbourne....Not sure if the tour will feature an orchestre , but this'll give you an idea of how they sound with one Highway Star wow he's got no voice left! I know!!! That's part of the reason why I think they should call it quits. He just can't handle it anymore. It's really sad to see him struggling so much on stage, and I ask myself: does he REALLY need to be there? Is he THAT desperate for cash? I don't think so. That kind of stuff makes me admire Robert Plant even more, for deciding not to reunite Led Zeppelin. No. Purple won't be Purple without Ian Gillan. If he quits, that moron Coverdale will want to join. Just watch. What I meant is that the whole band should call it quits, not just Gillan. Who wants to listen to Smoke on the Water, Highway Star and Perfect Strangers for the 4563346234565629879324th time?
  15. QUOTE (Storm Shadow @ Dec 7 2011, 12:24 PM) Budgie - Parents 3:53 King Diamond - Black Horsemen 6:36. Best King song ever. Hey...I can't believe someone other than me actually likes King Diamond!!! He's awesome, isn't he? It's a shame that he's had some health issues lately, and hasn't put out studio abums in recent years. Abigail, Conspiracy, Them, Fatal Portrait, The Puppet Master, House of God...all classics!!!

  17. At some point he says "you talking to me?" like DeNiro in Taxi Driver.
  18. Here's a few suggestions of names for the farewell tour: Working them Crutches Grey Barchetta Permanent Wrinkles Test for Echocardiogram We (used to) Hold On

  20. They should get Derek Riggs to design the cover. The angels would look like Eddie!!!!
