  1. It has it’s moments. It was definitely a highly ambitious project from a band like Kiss. It was not hot garbage. C+ would be my grade on it.
  2. Wish he would come close to me down in South Florida......but that’s not happening. I am not traveling for the one. Is what it is. To those that are going....enjoy!!! It should be a great event.
  3. You will be quite pleased. This is vintage SW.
  4. I am surprised no one has even mentioned the first few tracks he has released. The album is amazing so far. Really......this is simply a beautiful Progressive rock album combining all his influences and sonic adventures over the years. Blown away. Preordered on CD and Vinyl. A sonic delight. And Imposible Tightrope......my god people.
  5. Was a fan thru the first three albums.....actually a pretty big fan. Tremendous live band. Carter is a beast for sure. On Everyday they over produced their music and tried to wrote “hit songs"......as an earlier post said it did not age well. Busted Stuff was a dark record and was supposed to the album they released instead of Everyday. Steve Lillywhite (yeah the guy who sold out Rush before Grace Under Pressure was recorded) was their producer on that and the previous threes albums. I have a bootleg of Busted Stuff called the Littlywhite sessions. They just started sounding way to the same after those first 4 albums......and the live shows started to annoy me with the bohemian crowd who followed them everywhere....did not shower and would try and steal your seats constantly. It was ridiculous......also they would play 8-9 songs in 2.5 hours. They would just jam and jam and jam....and more jamming and more solos......yeah....not my kind of thing. It got old quick. Jumped ship in 2007 as a supporter. I still will listen to those first 4 albums......also love some of his live stuff as well from those early tours. The Live from Central Park CD is amazing.
  6. Final Eyes......that was the highlight of Big Generator for me. I’m Running and Aim High Shoot Low. The rest.....kinda paint by the numbers. Hold Your Fire is one of my top 10 Rush albums ever. I love it.
  7. I am pretty sure Patty was temporary. Before she joined YYNOT she had her own project and I think that is her musical focus. I had thought for a fleeting moment that Patty was on board for a new album.....welp. Adi is tremendous and will fit right in. Looking forward to hopefully a new YYNOT album of original material with Adi on the Vox in the near future and seeing them come on down to the Funky Biscuit again in South Florida for a show with Adi.
  8. Those are my picks as well. What still gets to me to this day about CA is the mix. I mean.....on VT...I got it. It was an 18 month process, Neil even coming back was a miracle......and they even used original jams on the final recordings of some songs.....I was just happy Rush was back and it was a passionate recording even though it makes my ears bleed (the original mix and master) on a full listen. But Clockwork Angels........the albums material is so freaking strong...just a glorious last record of their career front to back but that damn mix is so freaking dense....like zero space between Geddy, Alex and Neil a muddy mess for Rush’s standards......just wow. And to think this was the same producer who mixed Snakes and Arrows which was a return to form after VT in terms of sonic quality. I would love CA to get a full remix from Steven Wilson.....shit I would love for Steven Wilson to give all their prime material (2112 thru HYF) the remix treatment he gave Yes’s prime albums. Oh how freaking insane would that be!!!!!
  9. Clickbait.........they are pretty much done save for any one off things here and there that may pop up. Rush has been done since they played their last show on the R40 tour. I loved every tour, album.....it was a hell of a ride.
  10. They are both simply amazing.....really....you should listen to them. Lot’s of fantastic material on them. We got 10th row dead center in Hollywood at the Hard Rock for this show. I am very curious what kind of set list they will roll out.....I am only expecting 1:45 minutes of music with 2 openers.....so I really hope they carefully select some epics with some great new tunes from the post Portnoy era. Maybe one epic to start the show and one to end it.....and play many great songs in between.....they have so much to choose from now post Portnoy.
  11. Funny....In Your Honor is easily my least favorite album they ever recorded. Interesting. Song is solid though....sounds like a paint by the numbers Foo tune. I was also not crazy about the last record.....I know they are trying to stretch their sonic reach a bit.....Concrete Gold was really solid.....and I personally really enjoyed Sonic Highways and the stories behind all those tunes. Hopefully this one is special. 1. There is Nothing Left to Lose 2. ESP&G 3. Wasted Light 4. TC&TS 5. Concrete Gold 6. Sonic Highways 7. One By One 8. Debut 9. Medicine at Midnight 10. In Your Honor
  12. Was not my cup of tea....at all.
  13. My first two Rush concerts ever were in 1983 on back to back nights in Hollywood Florida.....I have flashes of each show....I was 13. It was a long time ago. I was able to go with my friends older brother who drove to both shows. Total cost for my two tickets both nights? 22 bucks. Man......those were the days. I wish I was able to see the Waves and Pictures tours as well.....this was their absolute prime and height of popularity in the “mainstream”. Coming off Moving Pictures Rush was huge. And then they did a very progressive thing.....they chose to find new sonic landscapes and that is why I loved them so much. They always took risks. And long term it paid off big time. The catalog is so diverse.....and Signals was the start of that 180 but it really took form on Grace Under Pressure. Signals aged the absolute best of all their post Pictures albums. Hands down. That creamy warm, analog sound was still in-tact. And yes...Terry Brown simply had the magic touch with them behind the console. I loved Peter Collins work with them as well....but Terry was the man with Rush’s sound in the studio. Oh how I wish we could have gotten something of a live document from Signals Tour on this 40th set.....that is the biggest disappointment from such a critical time tested album in their peak creative phase.
  14. So I have purchased every 40th year Super Deluxe set thus far…..and I am pausing here. The Rush Backstage exclusive already sold out. Obviously some hoarding I am sure by Ebay trolls who will try to capitalize and jack the price up on them. I am a huge Signals fan….it is my 4th all time favorite Rush album. However…..I own the MSFL CD which is the absolute definitive version of this album IMO in terms of audiophile quality. I own the original print vinyl in mint condition as well. The lack of any live material was a huge letdown. I was really hoping for a soundboard recording of this tour…..and it was not to be. Yes I am completist when it comes to Rush. But I am going to wait a while….I just feel the price is incredibly bloated for an album I already have in the forms they offer (yes I have the Sectors 5.1 mix as well as remaster 2.0). So what am I paying $225 for? A book with pictures and some singles? Meh it is an underwhelming 40th Anniversary box set. So we are sitting it out for a bit and see if the price eventually comes down in a year or two. I do like the hoodie though!! Ordering that!
  15. Interesting choice there. I actually re-discovered that album....and while it had some heavy syrupy moments (and not in a bad way) it was a damn good follow up to my favorite record from them, Vital Signs. They were a very underrated rock band that wrote catchy hooks and had top notch vocals from the late and great Jami Jameson.
  16. Whitesnake - Still of the Night Dio - Don’t Talk To Strangers Ratt - Wanted Man Bon Jovi - Lay Your Hands On Me Tesla - Modern Day Cowboy Dokken - In My Dreams Van Halen - Mean Street Skid Row - Monkey Business Motley Crue - Wild Side David Lee Roth - Yankee Rose
  17. There were some exceptions…..Dokken and Whitesnake being two of them….they had good album’s filled with great riffs and melodies. And high quality lead vocals….especially Coverdale.
  18. Great topic Rush - Permanent Waves (can only pick one but could easily add MP and Signals) Van Halen - Fair Warning Dio - Holy Diver Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime Whitesnake - Whitesnake Dokken - Under Lock and Key Ozzy - The Ultimate Sin (I simply loved Jake E Lee’s playing and spun this one a gazillion times) AC/DC - Back In Black Night Ranger - Midnight Madness
  19. So I am doing my annual playthrough front to back of every single studio and official live release. I chose all my Atomic Germany CD’s for Rush thru Hold Your Fire. I own all the MoFi stuff and I would rank those: Signals Moving Pictures Permanent Waves 2112 IMO all 4 are outstanding. Warm, spaced…large soundstage and not compressed at all. Just a joy. The Sectors Box Set is also quite good. The Mercury German Atomic releases (all my first CD’s of my Rush collection I purchased back in 1987 when I switched to CD as my preferred media from Vinyl) sound excellent as well. Warm and true to the original master tapes. I still have all my Rush Vinyl as well. And Permanent Waves Mofi 180G limited vinyl is by far my favorite from them. Anyway I am enjoying my playthrough. We listened to the Debut today….criminally underrated album in Rush circles.
  20. Facts. All the Mobile Fidelity Rush discs are fantastic with Signals being the best of the 4 MoFi releases.
  21. Very nice. Amazing this has been locked away somewhere for decades upon decades. Mind-blowing.
  22. Queensryche Operation Mindcrime Empire Digital Noise Alliance Promised Land Condition Human Rage For Order Hear In The Now Frontier The Verdict Tribe The Warning American Solider Queensryche (Debut with LaTorre) Operation Mindcrime II QR2K Queensryche EP Dedicated To Chaos Their mid 80’s output simply has not aged well for me. Yes Rage For Order is a classic record.....but again sonically and even in some songwriting....just kinda not my thing with them anymore. OMC is where the band truly took off (obviously) and Empire was an incredible follow up to arguably the best hard rock/metal concept album of all time. Promised Land is always looked at as a underrated record. I like it. It has some of their darkest and most Prog rock moments. But Their new album for me leapfrogged it. Digital Noise Alliance is simply front to back a great modern day QR album that draws from all their influences throughout their history. I can’t say enough great things about it. I thought Tribe had some really great songs and was a return to form after the uneven HINTF which when it hit the right notes.....it really hit em. I am a fan of the album and it was the last one to really have Degarmo’s fingerprints all over it. Yeah he came back for some help on Tribe.....but you really don’t notice his style much compared to HITNF’s output. Condition Human and The Verdict are also simply sizzling QR albums and LaTorre for my taste has completely recharged this band. American Solider IMO is a real underrated album. It is quite dark, moody and has some great tracks and was the last real effort with Tate at the helm. OMCII was a mess.....from shoddy low quality production, to simply bad songs. Moments.....yes it had a few (Ronnie James Dio’s duet with Tate on The Chase). But not enough to even save this train wreck. QR2K....ugh. The EP other than Queen of The Reich never did it for me. And we won’t even give Dedicate To Chaos any print other than it’s dead last ranking.
  23. I consider Promised Land their most progressive album. It is quite dark and moody. A really great record. #4 for me all time though. I actually have Digital Noise Alliance above it at #3 as I love this new record big time. OM and Empire are my 1 and 2 respectively.
