  1. QUOTE (GhostGirl @ May 10 2011, 10:24 AM) My 13 year old winning a Superior medal from the Solo/Ensemble contest last Saturday. He performed "Turkish March" (orig. by Beethoven) - percussion, of course. That's awesome!
  2. QUOTE (Cosy Toes @ May 9 2011, 06:26 AM) QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ May 9 2011, 11:32 AM) QUOTE (GhostGirl @ May 9 2011, 11:11 AM) QUOTE (tel @ May 9 2011, 04:25 AM) mothers day?.......may 8th?.......que? Huh? May 8th in the US, April 3rd in Europe this year(it always falls on the 4th Sunday in Lent in Europe). Can't Americans do anything right? I bet they thought yesterday was the 8th of August. But it was
  3. QUOTE (usb_connector @ May 9 2011, 05:19 AM) I would be reluctant to say that By-Tor is representative of their career. I find that the section between where Geddy says "let the play begin" and the next set of lyrics is just too dragged out. It's far from one of my favourite songs. If they cut out 2 minutes of instrumental, then I'd reconsider.
  4. Why did the German cross the road? Because it marked the Polish border

  6. QUOTE (Akron162 @ May 6 2011, 04:19 PM) c'mon, the album is not that good. is interesting at least, but the music is too generic and predictable, and the story doesn't make any sense.
  7. QUOTE (ghostworks @ May 6 2011, 03:52 PM) QUOTE (ILSnwdog @ May 6 2011, 01:14 PM) QUOTE (umoveme @ May 6 2011, 10:38 AM) I'm in love with: Deadwing The Incident Fear of a Blank Planet and In Absentia the others haven't grown on me yet. Give "Way Out Of Here" a try... it's been a while since I've tried PT on, and I'm in a good 'new music' mood (today I d/l'd an album's worth of interesting new music from a dozen artists I'd never checked out) so I'll take up the challenge ok... let's cue up 'Way Out Of Here' first minute and a half > hmm... not bad, kind of like 'Brave'-era Marillion ('94) - for a record that came out in 2007, though, it's a little dated the chorus > ugh - and once again, I'm out that 'tween tv show' autotune epic soundtrack type of stuff just does nothing for me I suppose if I'd been brought up on The Hills and True Blood this might resonate for me, but without that touchstone - nada it's undeniable at this point that any and all 'prog' references made regarding PT are wholly superficial sure, they picked nice window dressing, but there's nothing behind the curtain [edited]

  14. For me an epic doesn't necessarily have to contain different parts, but it has to *feel* like an epic, for that reason alone TCE doesn't make the cut, nor does Jacob's Ladder.
  15. Anyway.. they say she rides on a pale horse, but I'm sure I hear a train..
  16. Not really sure what criteria i use to define an epic, but I know it when I hear it LVS, NatSci, Hemi, Cygnus etc are all epics by my standards, though TCE definitely is not
  17. You realize you just further disproved your point right?
