  1. Love them both, but I find myself grabbing COS alot more than Hemi these days. Prob in the minority here, but voted accordingly.
  2. ^^^^You should. Lifeless, adult-comtemporary music. Easily ranks as the worst Yes album of all IMO. A colossal disappointment.
  3. Overall, I find Snakes and Arrows, a much more satisfying listen. Also much easier to listen to production wise.
  4. Love them both, so very different styles. But Geddy's amazingly gymnastic playing gets the edge for me.
  5. While many state that Signals is the beginning of the synth era, I contend its the end of the truly classic Rush period, which for me is 2112 though Signals. While Grace is great and Power Windows very solid, I consider Signals the last truly classic Rush album (and my personal favorite). And I agree with an earlier post that said it was the last record with the "classic Rush feel," right before they fully embraced the new wave ideal, musically and visually. Finally, the setlist from that tour is one of best ever.
  6. Add painfully bad production and plodding, brick-walled guitars to that list and I agree completely. The album has not held up for this fan at all. Bottom tier of Rush albums for sure.
  7. Despite the divide of opinions this album has, I think most if not all of have agreed that the sound production on this album was pure goodness. Peter Collins did a wonderful job. Test For Echo left a bit to be desired in that aspect... Agreed. The production is excellent, really makes the album stand out among others in its era -- as well as the ones succeeding it.
  8. Genuinely surprised at the low regard CP has on this thread. IMHO, it blows away the two albums preceding it and is a better listen than anything they've done since.
  9. voted for 73-79, but my true favorite Rush era is 77-82.
  10. This looks insane. Hope they extend the tour to DC.
  11. Its fantastic, no matter the naysayers. Gotten lost in the brilliance of Necromancer and Fountain countless times. A top 5 Rush album for me easily.
  12. Very accurate. Good stuff on that album. Another one of my favorites is The Miracle. Not sure if its underrated, but its a great one, top to bottom.
  13. NO :finbar: YES! What else are you going to do? Sit home and watch TV? The ticket prices aren't bad. Go see Yes! Nah, I decided against it. They're 100 miles away, cost $70 and don't even have Jon Anderson. I'll pass for now. I saw them live with Benoit and it was a major disappointment. Didnt even stay for roundabout (not that that's one of my faves anyway, but if Jon was there id def stay) The only reason why i dont regret going entirely is because steve howe's playing in "And You and I" did reach me, and that was a good moment. The Benoit tour was rough...the show I saw was lazy and his vocals (as well as the playing of alan, in particular) were sub par. However, Jon seems to have them truly rejuvenated. Saw them two tours ago (right before the 3 album tour) and the show was great - very satisfying. Looking forward to seeing them again next summer and hearing the new album. PS-- a new song from H&E, "Believe Again" has been circulating. Its quite a nice piece of Yes Music.
  14. When I was in 11th grade, I had a a little Ritual involving Relayer. Every morning before I left my house to walk to the bus stop, I'd put my Walkman headphones on, and press play as I stepped out the door. Gates of Delerium would start, and it would finish just as I was getting off the bus to walk in to school. In the afternoon, when the bus started rolling, I'd play side two. Since it was shorter, it wouldn't last my whole walk home. :haz: Cool story...did the same with my walkman countless times... the good old days!
  15. Dunno, bet you've been dated plenty of times. The album's fantastic and really takes me back to a time that seemed magical. This album, Selling England By The Pound and, believe it or not, Caress Of Steel really remind me of my teenage years and the specialness of discovering new music. I totally believe it, re COS. Fantastic album.. I remember getting lost in this album when I was a kid. A top 5 Rush record for me.
  16. I'm a Dream Theater fan, but "The Count of Tuscany" may have the worst lyrics I've ever heard sung.
  17. I saw Roger on the Dark Side show here and it was pretty amazing I have to say, even without the theatrics of The Wall. Had a much better position than the PF show way back then as well :D I saw that tour as well and totally agree. We need another Waters tour.

    Rush vs Kansas

A lot of bands are products of their time. Kansas was cool in the 70's but kind of went MOR as the 80's came in. That's one thing that makes Rush the phenomenon that they are. For the most part, they were able to transcend each decades musical faux-pas and move on. very true...particularly regarding Rush
  21. I saw them on that 1987 tour in NJ, phenomenal experience for sure. But I didn't feel like I truly had the classic Floyd experience until I saw the Waters Wall tour. The sound, spectacle and those blow up figures were just mind-blowing. As for future live events -- assuming Gilmour will tour his new album whenever that comes out, and hoping Waters comes back and does Animals in its entirety.
