  1. Xanadu. A Farewell To Kings & Closer To The Heart great also. 4/5
  2. The Necromancer. Better than By-Tor or Cygnus. 5/5
  3. Anthem. In an interview, Geddy stated this was something they tried this with Rutsey but when Neil joined and played it he realized the future possibilties. Lyrically important as well. By-Tor, BB&B, In The End all great as well. 4/5
  4. Finding My Way, What You're Doing, Before & After all classics but Working Man's the song. 5/5
  5. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jul 20 2006, 02:45 PM) The only Blue Oyster Cult-related item I have is a cd by The Stalk-Forrest Group (later morphed into Blue Oyster Cult) called St. Cecelia: The Elektra Recordings. This was a completed album recorded in 1970, but never released until VERY recently. It's a VERY good album (just short of greatness), is very jammy and somewhat proggy. It's definitely worth picking up. I only have their big hits to go on in terms of BOC, and while they're all really good 70's arena classic rock kinds of songs in the vein of Boston, Foreigner, REO Speedwagon and that ilk, it was never enough (like with those other bands) to inspire me to bother to pick anything of theirs up... Hope you've picked up some of their stuff since this post. BOC is nothing like those you mentioned; much more original with interesting lyrics (particularly the early stuff).

  11. QUOTE (ReRushed @ Apr 22 2010, 07:40 AM) QUOTE (micgtr71 @ Apr 22 2010, 08:35 AM) This is strange. I guess that I ave a difficult time considering most of these as epics...9 minutes does not seem to epic to me...just my opinion. Anyway, 1. Hemishperes 2. The Fountain of Lamneth 3. 2112 I can't go any further. Great songs all of them-don't fit my definition of epic...sorry. What's epic when it comes to popular music? Heck, it can be argued that anything over 5 minutes can be considered epic. What's the average length of a rock song? 3 minutes? 4 minutes? If so, a 9 minute song is double the average, so I think the term epic applies. The song Black Sabbath is 6:20 and is pretty epic.
