    Caress of Steel

patchy and uneven though it is, fountain of lamneth pretty much IS caress of steel to me. the rest of it is unremarkable.
  2. YBG, Prog section. The Yukon Blade Grinder? That was what I thought of, too! it isn't that?
  3. YBG, Prog section. The Yukon Blade Grinder? Young Bi Guys sure, but you can't really call them young anymore!
  4. I understand what you are saying, however, in this case, Neil encountered an individual person, and used Mine as a springboard for the comment ... He was not referencing an entire group of people, or, a cartoon character, he was pointing out a fault ( in his opinion ) of one individual .. And that is what bothers me, esp coming from Neil - the guy who has been a voice for individuality for decades Mine was apparently traveling all alone, as Neil did years ago after the loss of his wife and daughter - let's just put ourselves in another country now, on a bicycle, and after an encounter with a stranger, we find out that he is a famous musician - a legend - and that he has written this in his blog .... I just think it was unnecessary, and I am disappointed in Neil . Interesting how people can read the same sentence on the interwebs and draw varying conclusions (even my own post after a few hours :D) For the record I think Neil was taking a jab at boorish Americans (to which he previously alluded) yep, it's certainly true that neil is an equal opportunity elitist who thinks he's better than pretty much everyone.
  5. there are many ways to express that someone didn't speak good english without being disrespectful. that's not one of them.
  6. i love neil apologists, they're so much fun!
  7. Yeah, that's pretty much what i was alluding to in my earlier post...just not as flavorful as you put it here. ;) All Superconductor jokes aside, after reading Neil's latest entry, this is the first time I have ever been ashamed to say that I am a Rush fan . . Seriously? Poor you. Not "poor Lucas" at all as I am very proud of myself Just embarrassed by the elitist, racist comment by Neil all this proves is that even when neil is being nice, he's still kind of a dick
  8. I don't blame you ;) And, welcome! :hi: I will second that emotion! "Feedback" should be called "Greedsack" of shite. greedsack, because it was pure pandering to make money and they got rich off it?
  9. more of yourself than you realize, i think but maybe you were being sarcastic.

  12. it will never again be like it was when we were kids.
  13. I agree, cheating doesn't have to be physical; it can be emotional. And while I don't condone cheating or lying to one's partner, sometimes it does happen. And sometimes it takes that for one to realize that they are, in fact, in the wrong relationship and they need to get out of it. Speaking from experience, just because a person puts energy into an existing relationship it doesn't mean it will improve that relationship. Just because a person is in an existing relationship doesn't mean it should persist. I agree, but at the point where you are going to start cheating, either physically or emotionally, you should end it with your partner at the time. Actually makes it easier if you think about it. Which would you rather here? "Honey, I love and respect you too much to cheat on you. Thats why I'm telling you now that its time to end it" or "Honey, for the last six months, while you have been faithful to you, I've been spending every free moment with somebody else". But regardless, people cheat I get that. My problem is when a woman cheats and comes here and puts a bow on it, everybody's all "you go girl". If a man were to do the exact same thing the responses would certainly not be as kind. It sucks to get dumped. Its crippling to get cheated on. Life isn't always as cut and dried as people would like it to be. You don't always realize things as they happen, but instead in retrospect. Sometimes you can't really make out a situation (or your own feelings) until time has passed, and only then is it the right time to take actions. This isn't a male vs. female thing; this is real life. Sadly it doesn't always work as smoothly as you wish it would. he's not saying the whole situation is a male thing vs a female thing. he's saying that if a man came in here and told exactly the same story as mika did, he would be condemned, not celebrated. and he's absolutely right. i disagree with the whole "the old boyfriend would have been good enough" bit, but about the double standard, andreww is spot on.
  14. i'm not looking forward to dealing with my wife when something does!
  15. maybe neil has not been clear with geddy and alex about what he wants to do in the future. maybe he doesn't know himself, or maybe it is once again the poor communication skills that neil himself admitted to in road show when he discussed how he's not good at stating things directly but rather hints around and hopes others will pick up on it. or maybe he just wants to keep the door open. although neil has discussed reasons why he does not want to tour anymore, he has never said thing one about retiring from music entirely. nor has he even explicitly said that he is retired in any way. he quoted his daughter and waffled, the most evasive retirment statement i've ever seen. not saying that means he's not retired and he'll be back. i don't know what he's going to do in the future. you don't know what he's going to do in the future. i reckon neil himself doesn't know what he's going to do in the future. maybe he reads this shit and laughs his ass off at us thinking we know anything about anything!
  16. Fixed. Musically, Digital Man is fantastic in my opinion... Ged is all over the place and is very subtle with each run that he does. Lyrically, it is lacking will admit that, but just listen to his isolated track: it's insane http://www.youtube.c...h?v=cIN6Yt6iV3U The others, I couldn't agree with more that is AMAZING. so fluid and gorgeous!
  17. it's all well and good for people to get sex changes if they want to, but i can't call someone who gets pregnant and has a kid using their own original parts a "man."
  18. i think that neil is overrated as a wordsmith and that a lot of his lyrics are pompous, self-important and faux deep. but i appreciate him for trying to write creatively about many different subjects and not just throwing together simplistic rhymes, and i think that his overreaching as a lyricist has challenged geddy and alex musically in a very positive way. once in a while he really hits it, most of the rest is basically serviceable and that's all you can ask of anyone. it's all rush and it's all good even though i never listen to about half the catalog.
