  1. Armor and Sword all the way! For me an outstanding song that was even better on S&A Live. Really hope they take play this one on the next tour.
  2. Test for Echo may not be one of their better albums, but the cover is a masterpiece imo - I'd put it head and shoulders above the rest.
  3. Without a shadow of a doubt, Jacob's Ladder for me. I'd also love to hear Xanadu, but only if they played the full version.
  4. QUOTE (metaldad @ Feb 23 2012, 02:56 PM) i know my least Fav was R-30. Why ? Because Medleys Suck. Cover Tunes should Never have been done with a catalog like theirs My thoughts exactly.
  5. Was gonna say the Farewell to Fans Tour until I saw the setlists - rush with orchestra all the way!
  6. QUOTE (New Digital Man @ Feb 19 2012, 03:37 PM) I have it on good authority that Carl Palmer has trouble with his timekeeping, seriously! You're right there. Just listen to Asia's debut album - the tempos are rushing and dragging all over the place, and often not in a good way! Don't get me wrong, I think Carl's a great player and his style fitted ELP perfectly. It's just straight ahead time keeping was never his strong point.
  7. QUOTE (BigBob @ Feb 18 2012, 09:36 PM) And, who did not like the Polka intro to La Villa Strangiatto!? Gotta say I've never been a fan - much prefer the way they start it on Rush in Rio.
  8. My fave is Vapor Trails 2 - not only has it got a great line up of songs, but I think it's also got a great flow. I especially love the LVS/TSoR combo at the end of the main set - it just feels so... right! My least favourite is probably R30 - too many covers and not enough originality imo. Whada you think?
  9. QUOTE (mrpotatohead @ Jan 23 2012, 04:38 PM) I was at the NAMM show in LA last week and apparently Gavin harrison is NOT taking part in this event. Oh yes he is... http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/showthr...?t=698&page=140 (scroll down to post 5568)
  10. QUOTE (Invisible To Telescopic Eye @ Feb 6 2012, 06:38 PM)GG Allin. If ya don't know who he is...look him up...This guy wins. I voted Ozzy in this poll, but man you're right! GG Allin makes these guys look like Robert Fripp!
  11. I'm a real fan of this one too - such a badass bass line!! A real saving grace from one of the band's weaker albums I think. Imo this tune should have been played on the TM tour instead of Leave That Thing Alone. It just RIPS live and by the looks of it, Geddy seemed to have a lot of fun with it. You can see for yourself here I REALLY hope they pull this one out for the next tour!
  12. Although I like it a lot as an album, I'm gonna have to give this one to Test for Echo.
  13. Interesting topic! Although I prefer La Villa and Natural Science as songs, I think Vital Signs is the most effective album closer. It shows the best song is not necessarily the best closer.
  14. Hmm I quite like it! It's certainly different and it's interesting how the choir's texture builds as the song progresses - kinda like the original but with a real choir instead of the Geddy choir!
  15. That's awesome! Always thought some of Ged's best singing was on this album - and especially this song. He was vocally at his peak then I think. He could still sing high and his voice still had a lot of raw power, but not to point of sounding screechy.
  16. My choices would be: Moving Pictures Hold Your Fire Permanent Waves A Farewell to Kings Power Windows
  17. QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Jan 15 2012, 12:46 PM)Substandard recording qualities of weak material Over-reliance on misaligned third-party directional coaches Over-reliance on computer technologies/electronics Overlayering Overproduction Endless barrage of commercial media containing the aforementioned And last but not least, a domineering/controlling lyricist holding the band and fans hostage with his malignant hobby philosophy. Note:these are my genuine thoughts. Please- no flaming! Haha this post trolls so hard, I almost feel some kind of deep respect for Gemini... or am i just going crazy!?
  18. That is too awesome! I hear 2 of the drummers taking part are Dave Weckl and Gavin Harrison - I'm so there!
  19. QUOTE (wilb1972 @ Jan 12 2012, 05:47 PM) QUOTE This what you're looking for?... http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?showtopic=70720 I knew it had to have been brought up already and I missed it! Thanks! Haha no worries man
  20. QUOTE (wilb1972 @ Jan 12 2012, 04:13 PM)So now this whole discussion has me wondering where everyone would rank their DVDs from best to worst? Poll anyone ...? This what you're looking for?... http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?showtopic=70720
  21. QUOTE (ghostworks @ Jan 9 2012, 02:45 PM)QUOTE (Drummerrobin @ Jan 9 2012, 02:03 PM) QUOTE (ghostworks @ Jan 9 2012, 12:51 PM) a decent drum sound! (for the love of all that is holy let us pray for the abandonment of the DW's...) What's wrong with the DWs? To my ears, Different Stages and Snakes and Arrows Live are by far Neil's best drum sounds - both with the DWs. Anyone else agree? I'd suggest you go back and watch/listen to the live St. Louis 1980 recording, p/g concert and ASOH before you make such assertions again... Just listened to some of the St. Louis show... Nah those concert toms are too dead for my liking - the double headed DW toms are much better I think. I like the sound on A Show of Hands better, but for me it still lacks the warmth and fullness of DS and S&A Live. Sorry
