  1. (This was actually two weeks ago, but the day-making continues.) We got a new dog! He's a rescue and the vet's best guess is he's part Border Collie. We had his DNA sampled as it's part of his health plan anyway and we'll get the results in a few weeks. He's a smart little dude, that's for sure and has only had 3 "accidents" so he's catching on to house-breaking really well and he's also learned "sit" so now we're working on lay down and a come here command. He was skinny when we got him, just 15 pounds & you could see his ribs & pelvis so we're getting him up to a healthy weight. Finally, we named him Baxley, after the town in Ga. where my wife's family hails from. Funny story on that, by the way. They immigrated from up North about 150 years ago were trying to get to Alabama but wound up settling in Baxley and the reason listed in the official record? They got tired! I don'tknow why, but that's always made me laugh. I'll try to post pics of the new mutt butt soon.
  2. OUTSTANDING!!! I salute and admire your problem-solving abilities. I love all of the mavericks and badasses who simply roll up their sleeves and get it done, whatever "it" may be! Never lose your edge and be sure to teach as many as you can how to think outside the box in order to solve a problem. You done good, Buddy!
  3. I still slip into and out of the forum at least once a month but I'm working on trying to be here more and post more but in the meantime (I've always thought that would be a cool title for a Rush song and/or album but sadly those days are over) say howdy to everyone. Things are good 'round here. We just got the kitchen floors done in a type of pergo flooring that looks like wood and the walls are not whit shiplap. We're in the process of having our ceilings "de-popcorned" and they look a million times better so I very highly recommend having it done. The main bathroom and kitchen have been done so next is the living room, hall, frog, and sunroom. My neighbors had tree in their yard and a coupla months ago we had a nasty thunderstorm with 40-mile winds and the tree basically split in half and fell into our yard. Thank God Almighty that all we suffered was very minor cosmetic damage, a few of our siding pieces suffered a scratch or to but that was it! The guy who removed the tree told us that it was a Bradford pear and Bradford pear trees are bred to grow tall fast, but the bigger they get, the weaker they become and thus more subject to breakage so he very strongly recommended that if you have a Bradford pear in your yard, have it removed ASAP! A few weeks after we had another storm and my best friend had a big chunk of his neighbor's Bradford pear land in his yard but it was in the front yard so no harm done, Thank God Almighty once again! I am having pretty severe back and leg pain currently and I'm praying hard that I won't end up needing surgery number four but this is the same type of pain I've had when I blew out that other disc 3 times, but on the right side now. I'll keep y'all apprised should I have to go under the damn knife again. I've also recently joined a local wargaming club and I am having so much fun with those guys! They're all 30- and 20-somethings so I'm the old man, but the guys are an extended family and treat me the same, so I love all those kids! :D That's enough of me rambling, y'all have a great day!
  4. Watched it last night & it was really funny! Highly recommended.
  5. So is this from the Grammar Nazi forum?
  6. I'm happy to report that we in Summerville, SC didn't suffer much damage at all, thank The Lord!
  7. My favorite time of year! Probably because I live in the South where our Summer days tend to feel like you're being smothered slowly by a 100-ton wet sponge that's been heated to 100 degrees.
  8. YEP! Big fan. Mr. Hawkins' vids are always interesting and I love how he doesn't take himself too seriously, a trait I share and fully endorse.
  9. "No woman ever slept with me and lived!!" :D
  10. The first R-rated movie I saw in the theater was Excalibur. I was 16.
  11. Yes it is!! That is great news, thank you so very kindly for sharing,me Bruddah!!
  12. I loved him in everything he did, from his hilarious Dr. Necessiter in The Man With Two Brains to Captain James Sawyer in Horatio Hornblower: Retribution. An amazing actor with incredible presence. RIP, sir.
  13. Owner: No no! She's pining! Mr. Praline: She's not pinin'! She's passed on! This Queen is no more! She has ceased to be! She's expired and gone to meet her maker! She's a stiff! Bereft of life, She rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed her to the Throne, She'd be pushing up the daisies! Her metabolic processes are null!! She's off the Throne! She's kicked the bucket, She's shuffled off Her mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile! THIS IS AN EX-QUEEN!!! (pause) Owner: Well, I'd better replace it, then. (he takes a quick peek behind the counter) Sorry squire, I've had a look 'round the back of the shop, and uh, we're right out of Queens. Mr. Praline: I see. I see, I get the picture. Owner: I've got a Charles. (pause) Mr. Praline: Pray, does it rule? Owner: Nnnnot really, no. Mr. Praline: WELL HE'S HARDLY A REPLACEMENT THEN IS HE??!!
  14. The Phantom Of The Open with one of my new favorite actors, Mark Rylance. Go watch it, it's great!
  15. I love Rowe's podcast, too! I also love Rick Beato so this was a real treat for me. Thank you.
  16. The Outfit with Mark Rylance. Simply outstanding! Mr. Rylance is very quickly becoming one of my top favorites.
  17. An intriguing series on HBO Max called The Rehearsal. The host (Nathan) of the show is contacted by people who want to break difficult confessions to friends and or family but are afraid of making it worse so he arranges for the person to rehearse their confession a few times so it will go more smoothly. Recommended!
  18. Such a sweet, sweet lady. My interactions with her on this board were always cool and I could "see" her wonderful heart just by reading her posts. I will be praying for her family and friends that they all persevere with grace, as I'm sure she would want that. Until we meet again, Sweet Donna!
  19. You just reminded me of one of my favorite songs! https://youtu.be/Qhy6SZf_3Gk
  20. This! It's both informative and funny. I needed a little "mental comfort food" after Don Quixote! https://books.google.com/books?id=lPptAwAAQBAJ&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0
  21. I had been building a block and bell tree since two years ago and finally finished it yesterday when the mounting clamp for my agogo bells arrived!! I will try and post some pics.
  22. Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka was just perfect. I think she brought real weight and dignity to the character and was super-respectful to the source material. Now, the big question is, does this spring from the fact that I love Rosario Dawson to begin with? Why yes, yes it does! Regardless, I think you'll really dig The Mandalorion.
  23. I love your profile pic! I'm a huge fan of Ol' Doomrooster myself!
