  1. Two maggots were arguing in dead earnest.
  2. Sorry, but how do you know for sure that isn't true? How does that dork radio show host know that what he said is true? I suggest that we contact the guy and ask HIM to provide evidence to support the claim that HE made. At the worst he is guilty of assuming something which lets face it seemed quite plausible. I don't think it merited the triple facepalm reaction. If Neil and the band had already known something was wrong, there would have been no tour that year. No way would he have chosen to spend even a week of the time he had left on the road. We already know he didn’t want to do it anyway.
  3. I used to design custom calendars until i was fired for taking a day off.
  4. No surprise he didn't "get" Neil's lyrics. "Dokken! You sukken! Get off the stagen, you slobben; get a jobben, Dokken!"
  5. What a bunch of dumbasses! It was Ren & Stimpy 29 years ago!!! :P I'm wearing an old Ren and Stimpy shirt right now, lol. Ah yes Ren and Stimpy with such pearls of wisdom, don't wiz on the electric fence :laughing guy: What rolls down stairs, rolls over in pairs, rolls over your neighbors dog... I have got to find my farting Ren doll....
  6. Just when I start thinking FB needs to go, it’s boring and a waste of time and bandwidth.... ....it serves up some truly entertaining conspiracy theory crap that makes me laugh and laugh and laugh. Did any of you know that The Simpsons predicted both the Wuhan coronavirus and Kobe’s death....27 years ago?
  7. I’ll probably have to duck rotten fruit from the New Yorkers here, but I detest Frank Sinatra. So yeah, I LOVE Sid Vicious’ version of “My Way”.
  8. Indeed....there's a "Gentleman's Club" up in northwestern Wisconsin, where patrons are encouraged to bring flashlights with them. Can you guess why, I'm wondering..... :o Flashlights or fleshlights?
  9. Slight cold, but it didn't keep me out of the gym. Since I work from home I figure it's likely that's where I picked up the virus. I do wear lifting gloves but tonight I realized I'm prone to wiping my face with my hands even with the gloves on. (I sweat more than any 5 people combined). I used to carry a towel around for that; guess I should get back in the habit.
  10. Disagree about "Where Have all the Good Times Gone" and "Pretty Woman". Originals are stone cold classics. Can't be bettered. The second sentence is true. The last one isn’t because the originals weren’t done by Van Halen. :) I think Diamond Dave paid Orbison appropriate tribute with the VH cover of "Pretty Woman", even though they left out the "oh". Did Orbison ever comment on it?
  11. I did not know that! One-hit wonders and damn, it wasn't even their song. Covers I hate (should be another thread), but Gwen Stefani should be shot at sunrise for covering Roxy Music's "More Than This" and Talk Talk's "It's My Life". Both are sacred ground to me and I mourned Mark Hollis' death. Even worse, some, er, THING....redid "More Than This" as a goddamn country song. Boiling in oil is too good for that person.
  12. Hazarding a guess that Neil was not the type who'd have expected or wanted anyone to make a big formal fuss over his earthly remains. The man was never one to stand on ceremony regarding anything; as humble as he was, it's not likely he'd have made an exception for his own passing. I also doubt he's been buried anywhere that the general public could access easily - if he opted for burial at all. I think that would be a good thing; while Rush fans in general are decent, respectful people, I have also seen people act like complete tools at gravesites. For every 200 people who'd visit Neil's grave to quietly pay respects, there'd be one person who had to act like a dick by the headstone. Jon Benet Ramsey is buried within shouting distance of my house, and while I thought she got entirely too much attention I can't condone all the disrespectful selfies and such that happen on her gravesite.
  13. I never thought anyone could do "Sound Of Silence" like Simon and Garfunkel. In fact I thought it would be akin to blasphemy for anyone else to even touch it. Until I heard Disturbed's cover. Not to take anything away from Paul and Art, but Dave Draiman's powerful voice sends chills up my spine and brings tears to my eyes. I love Disturbed anyway, but when I heard they were planning a cover of SOS I kinda thought, well, yeah, guys, not sure about this. But they have more than done justice to this classic. Paul Simon agrees - he congratulated the band after a live performance on The Late Show. I also think R.E.M. did a great rendition of Leonard Cohen's "First We Take Manhattan". (Some prefer the Joe Cocker version). Admittedly I haven't ever understood the appeal of Cohen, but I like what R.E.M. did with his song! (I used to be almost as fond of R.E.M. as I am of Rush, but then they got popular and Stipe cleared his throat and they lost their unique Athens - rock edge. But I digress). Rush has been covered by quite a few bands; while some of these I think are good and I wouldn't turn them off, they're just not Rush, never mind better than. So....take it away, TRF.
  14. As an 80's teenager, I loved a lot of Bowie's music. But it wasn't until I got older that I really was able to appreciate the genius of the man. One of my favorite Bowie albums is "Black Tie, White Noise", which didn't get a lot of love in comparison to his previous work. Looking forward to this release.
  15. If Jesus' earthly dad was a carpenter, how did young J spend his evenings? Jesus swept. I'll show myself out.
  16. I'm sorry your physical office isn't closer! Ours is a few blocks away and I love the guys in there, they give me all kinds of help. One is my hero since he is the one in 2015 that figured out how I could send my AFTK album to Buffalo and put in a return pkg. so I could get it back with autographs on it. I love him! I use the USPS website a lot at home as well and First class usually shows up pretty easily when it applies. They always put the Priority prices at the top but then usually list the other options underneath. I used to have to ship a lot of art supplies and misc to my daughter in school. It might be, that for something like nail polish, it weighs out a little too heavy for First Class? I dunno. I hope they can work it out for you! I remembered as I was heading out the door that there is a UPS Store nearby, and they handle USPS packages. Postage was $2.60 for a First Class mailing. Had I done it via the Click-n-Ship, the minimum was $7.60. I buy/sell/trade a lot of polish but this is the first time there hasn't been a PayPal transaction as it was a straight up 1-for-1 trade (I bought 1 from her in addition to the trade), so no need to invoice for anything. The default option for PP shipping is Priority, but you can change it to your own packaging and First Class ship. If I find myself in this situation again, I am going to request that we send each other a $1 invoice so I can print the label here. I call the local postal branch "The Post Office That Time Forgot". Usually they have one person working at the counter, and if it's the woman who moves as though her limbs were suspended in heavy syrup, you know you're going to be there a while.
  17. US Postal sucks 100 kinds of ass. I'm doing a swap with someone from a FB group - each party is responsible for paying postage on their end. It's nail polish, so roughly a 3-4 oz package. I have the padded envelopes and it is perfectly legal to ship polish through the mail in the US. But....since there's no Paypal transaction, I logged onto USPS to get my shipment ready. Except they only offer priority shipping services online, no first class. This is NAIL POLISH, hardly an emergency. So now I have to go to the goddamn brick and mortar location, which is in Bumfuck, Back of Beyond. I'm not filling out any damn forms either; I don't work for the post office and they can pay for my inconvenience by doing all the work they get taxpayer money to do.
  18. Same! We had a small gathering tonight which would have been fun anyway, but my boyfriend is a lifelong Chiefs fan so the win made it perfect. Plus Mahomes is such a class act; he deserved it!
  19. Lorraine gets it. Do you know how many of these scares I've lived through? Sooner or later, you start to feel like someone is just making a fool of you. When I was wee it was the swine flu that had everyone wigged out. Then SARS. This isn't keeping me up nights. I'm low-risk anyway; I work from home at a job that does not require me to interact with the unwashed masses, have no kids to bring home nasty things, and SO is mostly retired.
  20. fumigate it. Maybe! I have some poison fake worms (for moles). They may or may not work. I'm gonna sweep out the entire shed tomorrow. The varmints don't have long to live!! Wear a mask - you do NOT want to risk exposure to hantavirus, which is harbored in rodent poo. Preferably one of those P45 masks, but at least wear a surgical mask.
  21. Well-behaved children are such a wonderful thing. I'd rather hang out with them than with most adults I know! By the time they're about 8 or 9 and into video games and toilet humor - I am right there with them!
