  1. QUOTE (Mara @ Aug 1 2011, 10:20 PM) Men always seem to think that women want Dove soap. I had a couple or three boyfriends (including the now-husband) who, when the relationship reached the "spending-the-night-stage", very thoughtfully purchased a bar of Dove. I didn't want to dismiss the kind gesture, so I'd wash once with the Dove and then a second time with whatever bar the guy kept for himself. And I'd leave the bar of Dove under the running water for a bit to make it go away faster. I hate Dove. It doesn't lather well and if you have skin that tends towards the oily side to start with, Dove is trouble. Plus I do not like the smell. Who here grew up with Lava soap? That stuff's wicked. I love Dove soap, no other kind of bar soap is allowed to enter my house.. I like the green one and it's all I buy. Redken makes a shampoo/conditioner set that is called "Time Reset" it's marketed towards the 40+ woman. I'm a sucker so I ponied up for for it at the salon.. crazy thing it's really good stuff, now I have to keep buying it. This is a very odd thread..
  2. So, a few days later there was a little box in my mailbox when I got home from work. It was all the way from Canada and contained a display box with four bin/buttons in it. They are the metal ones, an R30, and old school Rush logo, a Starman one and one that says RUSH/2112.. nice to win something now and then. Sadly, Ged was not in the box with the pins.
  3. QUOTE (driventotheedge @ Aug 2 2011, 12:57 PM) I thought this Rush tour was so bad I had to go see it 3 times to make sure I was right. Yes, it did suck, I had to fly all the way to the other side of the country to be sure for that 4th show... all four of them were awful, I can't wait to see if they suck as much on the next tour.
  4. I read the thread title and didn't even have to look to see who the poster was.. (insert yawning smiley here)
  5. QUOTE (Rick N. Backer @ Jul 31 2011, 07:41 PM) It is borderline criminal that no one has mentioned Exile on Main Street. There is not one ounce of filler on that, even when you consider the songs released as part of the Deluxe package last year. But the crown goes to The Beatles (a/k/a The White Album). I'd also mention GnR's Use Your Illusion 1 and 2 since they were released simultaneously, and I doubt too many people bought just one of them. Interesting, don't know if I'd count Use Your Illusion I & II as a double, they were separate albums, each in their own box... on the other side, I don't know anyone who owns just one of them, we all marched down to the record store on release day and got both of them at the same time. The blue one was the one we listened to over and over back then, now I like the yellow one better, funny how that changes with time. I'd take PG as favorite.
  6. There's a lot of good advice in this thread. Your feelings are yours and when you are faced with losing your mom you can feel anyway that you want.. the important thing is to allow yourself to feel these things. I lost my mom recently (feels like yesterday) and my tactic was to shut down. I'd advise against that. Listen to the other wisdom on this thread and feel whatever and however you want. It's ok.
  7. I've got tickets for the Pittsburgh show, we got them months ago and I forget what they cost. I think Night Ranger is close to original lineup. Fake Foreigner is kind of a joke, but Kelly Hansen is so good, I forgive them for that.. the Journey thing is a little harder to take since Steve Perry was such a great voice, the replacements, replacement replacement is pretty close to a Perry clone and you do get Schon & Cain. Bottom line, we got lucky and the Pittsburgh show is a Saturday so it will be a day of fun, drinks, friends and music. If the show had been on a weeknight we wouldn't be going. I don't think we need to worry about seeing Rush as s twosome and a replacement, they'll never do that.
  8. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Jul 27 2011, 12:50 PM) Survivor "I Can't Hold Back" There's a story in my eyes Turn the pages of desire Now it's time to trade those dreams For the rush of passion's fire I can feel you tremble when we touch And I feel the hand of fate Reaching out to both of us I've been holding back the night I've been searching for a clue from you I'm gonna try with all my might To make this story line come true Can ya feel me tremble when we touch Can ya feel the hand of fate Reaching out to both of us This love affair can't wait I can't hold back, I'm on the edge (I can't hold back) Your voice explodes inside my head I can't hold back, I won't back down Girl it's too late to turn back now Another shooting star goes by And in the night the silence speaks to you and I And now the time has come at last Don't let the moment run too fast I can feel you tremble when we touch And I feel the hand of fate reaching out to both of us There's a story in my eyes, turn the pages of desire Now it's time to trade those dreams For the rush of passion's fire I can't hold back, I'm on the edge (I can't hold back) Your voice explodes inside my head I can't hold back, I won't back down Girl it's too late to turn back now Oh No! Please don't do that again! Those lyrics looked familiar so I looked up Survivor on Spotify.. I remember them but I had completely forgotten how many hits this band had.. now I can't seem to stop listening, cause I'm back in high school!!! ARRRRGGGHHH!!
  9. I saw the U2 360 Tour last night in Pittsburgh. Here is my review. WOW! That was FRACKING AWESOME! That's about all I got to say. Here's a few pics of the crazy stage http://bit.ly/pizBIy (Also one random shot of the Mr. Rodgers statue that is in riverfront park by Heinz field.)
  10. QUOTE (Unattractive Truth @ Jul 24 2011, 09:14 PM) QUOTE (MCM @ Jul 24 2011, 06:51 PM) I see U2 on Tuesday, feeling a little indifferent about it, hopefully it will be better than I expect and Bono won't preach too much. Have you ever seen U2? Whatever you may think of them or their music, they put on one hell of a live show. You'll definitely get your money's worth. Enjoy! Anyway, I had hoped my next concert would be Steven Wilson, but so far, nothing west of Chicago. Fingers crossed. I've never see them, but I'm sure it will be very good and now that I pulled out the discs we used to listen to in college I'm a little more excited about it than I was. We were big fans back in the day, but I didn't keep up with them and follow them like I do some others. They've been over at Heinz field building the stage since the weekend, you can see it from some of the offices and it's huge. I think Steven Wilson's schedule got kind of messed up when his dad passed away a few months ago, I'm sure he'll make it to CA eventually.
  11. Don't forget that soda is also high in sodium.. just as bad as the sugar depending on any other health issues you might have.

QUOTE (softfilter @ Jul 24 2011, 09:48 PM) QUOTE (MCM @ Jul 24 2011, 09:45 PM) QUOTE (Unattractive Truth @ Jul 24 2011, 09:09 PM) In Las Vegas, Geddy said the new album "will be out by Christmas". I can't see how they make that deadline, unless they have more done than they are saying, (cause he did say that), I'm guessing they will be on vacation and taking it easy until at least October. That doesn't leave much time to finish and get it out. That said, I hope it's under the tree at Christmas. So next year, March 2012 Wish I knew, I'm just a pessimist who doesn't like to get her hopes up.

  15. QUOTE (Khan @ Jul 20 2011, 07:22 AM) Journey/Foreigner/Night Ranger on 8/3 I'll see this at the end of August, post a review after the show.. what reviews I've seen so far are all pretty positive.
  16. Zeppelin, no contest. Yes, Pagey was sloppy live, but I think that was due to his issues with various substances, not that he's a bad live player. Since were pretending that they are all alive, then I take it to mean that it's present day. He's now clean and has been for a lot of years, so he won't be sloppy at my live pretend show.
  17. QUOTE (Nate2112 @ Jul 23 2011, 06:07 PM) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOVh_C7XTHA hilarious Gotta admit, that one never gets old.

    ummmmm

The only good thing about the bad video from Chile is that it prompted me to watch this oldie but goodie Actually, I remember when the videos from South America started to surface, I though "oh no, it's over" but it's almost like Ged may have been battling some kind of bug cause it wasn't long before it seemed his voice picked back up again and he was fine.

  20. QUOTE (ioc @ Jul 20 2011, 11:08 PM) QUOTE (sonictheplumber @ Jul 20 2011, 09:31 PM) but it's all that mattered with genesis I mean, every yuppie had a copy of invisible touch in their walkman while they did their daily morning run at central park That was/is me. [except for the yuppie...and the central park...and the running...and morning] Invisible Touch was the first album I ever bought. I listened that thing to death. Still love the album. I like Invisible Touch, oddly enough I listened to it at work today.

  22. QUOTE (Mara @ Jul 18 2011, 09:46 AM) One of the upsides to being 43, married to a 54-year-old, and not having kids: very, very limited exposure to the current trends in pop culture. I like my nice little insulated cultural bubble. It's safe. I've never once heard a Katy Perry song, at least not that I'd recognize it. Me too, I'm "past 40" and live with a 14lb dog, nothing enters my house, car or environment that I don't approve of first... Except, went to a college reunion this past weekend, and obviously the DJ at our favorite bar wasn't aware of his "past 40" audience.. it was awful!! This horrible dance, thumping, full of profanity crap assulting my ears.. I though I might die. We quickly left to a safer environment with a jukebox we could control ourselves.. walked in and the jukebox was playing Motorhead.. whew, crisis averted. Ok, sorry, went a little bit off there, but the state of "popular" music today is deplorable!!! Almost ruined my night of drinking.
  23. So, yesterday I get an email from someone at Showtech telling me that I am a potential winner and they need my address to ship the 30th Anniversary Pin Set. I had entered that contest, cause I enter them all, so I responded with my address (cause it's not really a secret since they already had my name). I get an email back that says "Confirmed" What does that mean? Today they post on their Facebook page, "Congrats to Maria from Pennsylvania" So, I got scammed or I need to change my name to Maria.. it's kind of close so maybe they just messed it up.. we'll see if I get a set of pins in the mail... I'd rather they put Geddy in a box, poke some holes in it and mail me that, but I guess beggars can't be choosers...
  24. QUOTE (Lady2112 @ Jul 19 2011, 06:08 PM) Hi Ladies - Just wanted to post this pic of Geddy I got at the Los Angeles show on June 22, 2011.
