  1. QUOTE (1 of the 7 @ Sep 12 2011, 08:53 PM) QUOTE (Steevo @ Sep 11 2011, 11:22 PM) QUOTE (1 of the 7 @ Sep 12 2011, 08:57 AM)REO Speedwagon- Great show, they played all the hits, and most of Hi Infidelity. Another instance of not quite 100% vocals, but the band still rocks. Kevin Cronin is SO showy and wordy that they seem a little over the top, but that's probably always been their style. Things got a little interesting when Cronin was telling a long story about people protesting the Vietnam War, and the older lady in front of Dan passed out on him! I was glad to see how fast the medical team got there through quite a crowd. She was okay, didn't even want to get checked out, but they were worried about heart issues. My heart was stimulated a bit by the bass player's gorgeous hair. What is it with these bass players with gorgeous hair...*Geddy* Thanks for the review What did they open and close with? And the encore? I admit to doing a little research here to refresh my memory They opened with Don't Let Him Go, closed the main set with Roll With The Changes, and the encore was Ridin' The Storm Out (FABULOUS, espcially in light of Hurricane Irene having made a pass by the day before) and 157 Riverside Avenue. I love REO Speedwagon, and have seen them numerous times, but I do wish Kevin would shut up and sing. They could fit another song in the set if he'd stop talking.
  2. Welcome! You're gonna love the "Geddy is Hot" thread! (I love it, doesn't everyone?)
  3. Very cool, thank for sharing. What's the story behind them?
  4. The video for that song used to be a staple on the MTV program 120 Minutes. If you remember, it aired on the weekends after Headbanger's Ball. Always loved the song but never checked out any of their other work.
  5. Good post. I probably said this same thing last year at this time, but I think we should be reminded of this everyday. The photos and footage shouldn't be saved for anniversaries and t.v. specials. I think that over time, the memories do fade and we need to be reminded of just how many people's lives were changed in the blink of an eye. We need to be reminded of what a horrible day that was and continues to be for all those who were there and lost friends, family and co-workers. The victims of that day were just going to work or school or trying to get home to their families. They were hurting no one, just living their daily lives like we all do every day. Also, as a result of this we need to remember those in the military who are and have served, been away from their families, and lost their lives in their service.
  6. QUOTE (Tommy Sawyer @ Sep 8 2011, 07:11 PM) Have you guys seen this site? Free streaming 24/7 of the latest prog. http://www.progstreaming.com/ Was listening to some Presto Ballet on that site just yesterday, it's nice to give it a listen to help decide on the purchase.
  7. Congrats on the big "5" I shall use the next five to turn you into a Mr. Big fan!
  8. QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Sep 4 2011, 09:48 AM) First time in 10 years, though for the fifth time total since 1991. Beautiful setting, out on the south terrace of the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. Maybe 1,000 people total. 4th row, center. Eye contact with Shaw a few times. Hung out at the bus and saw them all up close before they departed for the stage. These guys haven't lost a step. Shaw at 58 looks and sounds better than most guys 30 years his junior and the musicianship is just as tight as it has ever been. The playing...the harmonies. Wonderful. Made me sing loudly, I'll tell ya. Anyone dismissing this band as ragged, balladeering, AOR corporate crooners have clearly never seen them live. They were loud, Sucherman knocked out false teeth with his double kick, and the band rocked the blue clear off the silver-headed folk in the audience. What a fun, fun show by a band whose setlist might be largely stale, but who still enjoys giving a top-rate performance night in and out on a level that most bands only aspire to. I say stale, but the highlights of the night were a handful of lesser knowns, such as the brilliant Man In The Wilderness, the surprising I'm OK, and the impressive Castle Walls...all of which tickled me to no end. No opening act. Just a taut, intimate 90 minutes with a wonderful band on a gorgeous late summer evening with the most popular U.S. residence ever constructed lit from below as a backdrop to the audience. I'm such a Styx junkie, it makes me happy when they make other people happy. I saw this same show four days ago in Pittsburgh, they always deliver, it was hot and humid and they played at 100% despite that. Todd is a rock solid monster, Tommy's voice hasn't faded a bit and for the most part, I prefer Larry to DDY. The four voices, JY, Tommy, Larry and Ricky, really blend well on the choruses. They are spot on every time I see them, doesn't seem like they ever have an off night that I've seen. Castle Walls was a pleasant surprise along with Queen of Spades. Glad you enjoyed the show. (if I can be a chick for a moment TS does look just as good as he did 30 years ago, possibly better)
  9. QUOTE (danielmclark @ Sep 4 2011, 01:52 AM) Simple premise... I'm looking for new stuff all the time and it stands to reason that others are, too. Here are my published Spotify playlists. What are yours? Your New Favorite Playlist - 228 tracks, Bonham, The Cure, Def Leppard, Zeppelin, Rush, Korn, The Monkees... it's quite varied. Aerosol: My Favorite 80's Metal - 280 tracks, Poison, Warrant, Crue, Ozzy, and more obscure stuff like Babylon AD, Gun, and Bang Tango. Down With the Ship! - This one needs some explanation. First, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXBrLMeDCyQ - the playlist is a list of all the songs that they use in that mashup. Only one caveat. Some of the stuff on these playlists aren't available on Spotify and are included because I have them on my local hard drive. If you wonder why you can't play a couple of tracks, that's why. Nice to see some representation for Faster Pussycat and Mother Love Bone. I think you're missing Drivin n Cryin from the Aerosol list.
  10. QUOTE (Tommy Sawyer @ Sep 1 2011, 10:23 PM) Well I usually use Grooveshark for music previewing, streming, etc. However, I was looking for something a bit more legal. I heard Spotify was totally legal and I looked on their website to find that I had to get invited. So can someone clue me in on how that works? By the way, I do not have a Facebook. Will that matter? I think I have invites, pm me your email and if I have any I'll send one.
  11. Just got back from a Styx show. Say what you will, they never disappoint! They played almost two hours and played a lot of deeper cuts. Almost all of Po8. Good show. If you are ever on the fence about seeing them, just do it!
  12. I've got one album, Under a Violet Moon and I love it. I need to pick up another one and see if I like it as much. It's very different, but very good. Her voice is just angelic.
  13. QUOTE (The Owl @ Aug 31 2011, 03:21 PM) QUOTE (RUDT @ Aug 31 2011, 02:37 PM) Is it a metal label? Are we going to see Rush playing more metal music. I would love to see a prog metal album with guys of 60 years old! It's a wide label... and while it has some of my favorite artists, they have some shitty artists as well... Nickleback and Lynyrd Skynyrd (in their current form, not the original good/pre-plane crash Skynyrd) to name a couple. Not that it means anything anymore, but once upon a time when labels were more "genre specific" it would be quite a hoot to think that Rush and Nickelback were sharing a label.
  14. I think it's a good thing, it's a good label and it hints that they are still looking ahead to future releases past CA.

Let's talk about those pants?? Right?? I know what you mean! Got-dayum, them are some tight britches! Them is tight britches, but yet they are all so skinny I want to bake them cookies.
  16. Happy Birthday! I wish you much Alex in your "Dreamland" tonight.
  17. QUOTE (Khan @ Aug 26 2011, 08:33 AM) Loved this one too! http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51ctMdJNAwL._SL500_AA300_.jpg That's a great movie. Very funny, is it on DVD?
  18. QUOTE (FOH Lights @ Aug 29 2011, 03:07 PM) QUOTE (Tommy Sawyer @ Aug 29 2011, 02:36 PM)QUOTE (FOH Lights @ Aug 29 2011, 03:34 PM) On Saturday I was told By who? Ughhh, seriously? Do we have to play this game? I heard it from my ex-wife's cousin who delivers newspapers to a guy who sold Geddy's uncle a car back in the 90's, but sold it in early 2001. He knows a guy who worked on the car recently and was told by the woman who brought it into the shop that she heard it from her 4 yr old daughter who heard it at daycare from one of the teachers. How the teacher knows about the album, I have no idea, but I figured it was pretty important info so, I thought I'd share... Feel better now?? Is that guy who delivers newspapers related to the FedEx driver who delivered the package to the rehersal studio and told us that they would be playing all of Hemispheres on the second leg of the Snakes & Arrows tour? Cause if it is then we know the source is good..
  19. I'm busy sleeping off a hangover.
  20. QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Aug 27 2011, 01:09 AM) However, give me Blackfoot, The Outlaws, .38 Special, and The Marshall Tucker Band any day! Love me a little Outlaws now and then.. that said, Freebird is much more annoying even tho Stariway is overplayed, it's still got more to offer than Freebird.. (see epic guitar solo)
  21. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Aug 26 2011, 02:02 PM) A first: SEPTA to shut down By Troy Graham INQUIRER STAFF WRITER For the first time in transportation history, SEPTA plans to suspend all service - buses, trains and subways - at midnight Saturday in response to Hurricane Irene. The city will not order evacuations from flood prone areas, Mayor Nutter said this afternoon, but three city high schools will be open as shelters. Nutter urged residents who live in flood-prone areas to use common sense and evacuate before the worst of the storm arrives, now projected to be about midnight Saturday. Philly trans. shutting down too.... Oh boy.... With so much talk about NYC, I totally forgot about Philly.. Just looked at the pic of the path of this thing.. hoping for safety for all those that will be affected.. be safe.

  23. I love how they do these kinds of things, but don't make a big deal about it. They know "we" will find out and it will make it's way around the web, but they don't go out and say "look what we are doing, we're so generous and good" They do these kinds of things because they're good people.. another classic example was Ged and the baseballs that he donated to that museum. He just did it and didn't make a big deal about it. Classy guys.
