  1. I'm in the UK & I cannot make any of the shows I want to know what I am missing - you lucky, lucky b45tards
  2. QUOTE (vital signz @ Apr 15 2010, 11:08 AM) I'll bet Rush is one of the only bands that you can do this sort of an exercise with. I love so many bands: Zeppelin, Floyd, The Who etc.... they just don't have that many songs that when you hear a certain section in the song it makes you secretly smile, or feel a warmth thru you. I think Pink Floyd must rank up there - they are so much more slef-indulgent than Rush Listen to the track "Echoes" from Meddle - it's a lot like By-Tor with an eerie almost silent section that builds back to full force. Also Sheep from Animals has a lot of little passages that make you cringe uncontrolably .. Loads on DSOTM
  3. QUOTE (workingcinderellaman @ Apr 9 2010, 03:11 PM) QUOTE (Mara @ Apr 9 2010, 09:38 AM) QUOTE (tick @ Apr 9 2010, 10:08 AM) QUOTE (Earthshine @ Apr 9 2010, 01:44 AM) Certainly not. I saw the Moving Pictures tour back in 1981. They did everything but Witch Hunt which I later saw them do. I don't get this. I really don't. Don't forget that not everyone is an old fart like us. Some members have never even seen Rush and the prospect of MP in its entirety is an amazing thought. But being someone who has seen Rush over 30 times, I can relate to your sentiment. Right. My husband's first Rush show was S&A 2008. He still says it's hands-down the best live show he's ever seen, period. And he's quite the classic metalhead as well as being 53 years old, so he's seen quite a few acts well-known for the quality of their live performances. There's no way that I could duplicate the experiences I had at early eighties Rush shows. Even if someone had a time machine and brought back 1980 Geddy, Alex, and Neil and had them perform. I was young and it was a new experience that helped define my youth. One of the things I really love about Rush is that they have adapted and reinvented themselves over the years. That's a very unique talent. I still love it when they play the old stuff, but I also like the new stuff as well. If S&A was the first Rush experience for me, it would be etched in my memory as the best concert ever. That distinction though goes to the GUP show. But I also agree that we have what we have now - if they suddenly annouce a UK Leg I would be there shaking my cape. Many of us are lucky enough to have grow up and grown old with them and enjoyed almost every single thing they have done. The have honesty, integrity and ability beyond belief. I for one, salute them for it
  4. QUOTE (metaldad @ Apr 9 2010, 03:02 PM) A great friend of mine for over 30 years called me yesterday and asked me if this was true and what shows i was going to get tix for. He has not seen Rush since the Exit Stage Left tour in dec of 1981 . After all these years he now wants to go agian . I bet tickets for this go Fast because everyone and their mother wants a ticket . Smart move by the band because seats were a plenty for most of the S&A tour Not in the UK Metaldad - two nights at Birmingham (the real Birmingham) sold out back to back approx 26,000 in total (13,000) per night. Surprised they didn't throw a mini-visit to the UK [Crosses fingers that they may do in late-October]

Big money goes around the world... Well, Big Money goes to the US and Canada - not quite around the world, but I know what you mean .. It's probably already been recorded anyway

If his first Rush show was 2008 how can he possibly comment on those in the 70's - 80's - 90's etc. I don't care how old he is, if he wasn't there, he can't really offer an opinion. But thanks .. The reason you play S &A and R30 more is becasu eof the production quality.
  7. QUOTE (metaldad @ Apr 9 2010, 01:20 PM) I saw this in 1981 . For me they will Never touch that tour agian. I am glad they are doing the" Time Machine " thing. Now, where does the "Time Machine " start and stop I agree - they are remarkably good for their age, but they ain't 30-something anymore. About the parody of themselves thing, I would put Metallica in there along with AC/DC. Sure they record new material, but always have a set rammed full of their 'classics'. Like the ultimate tribute act. I'm not a great fan of VT or S&A, but the boys are and gave it everything in pushing them forward. As it happens, I have listened to both albums more and more because it is 'fresh' Rush to me. I love Hemi, Perm, MP G/P etc but that was then and this is now. You ain't going to get 80's Rush performances. I think what we would all like is - A Three-Day festival of just Rush Stage equipment from 2010 Dress Sense of late 70's Every song played in it's entirity from "Finding My Way" and in album order I like the fact they are doing the whole of MP and I think they will do it in sequence for the second part of the show - otherwise it would just be .. another Set List. When they hit the UK in early 2011, they can play Hemispheres Side 1, TCE, The Fountain yada yada yada
  8. QUOTE (snowdog2112 @ Apr 8 2010, 06:32 PM) This is essentially only the first leg of the tour, I don't get the panic. They usually play Europe last when they do go so just give it some time. I agree - they will mess about in the US for the Summer, hash it all up and play 'new' songs that'll flatten any excitement generated by the chance to see "The Camera Eye" and once they have got it close, they will go in the studio, finish the album, release it in early 2011 and announce a full tour, starting with Europe, starting with UK. We get them fresh, trained and ready for action. I won't go to the US or Canada to see them, they will get round to me eventually. Plus, if you go to the US, you'll have to sit with all the whooping burger monsters - that would spoil Camera Eye for me. "Hell Yeah" - oh please
  9. Or the UK, just one would be nice - pop over and show your face
  10. Not in the UK Oh Well another years wait .. .. Ba5tards
  11. My counter show "2010" and then zero's even if I refresh Help AND I know UK will not be in the list of venues .. .. so be gentle with me
  12. ** FALSE ALARM ** I have just checked and it has been put back blank .. Sorry
  13. Just tried my daily check of the TOUR page on the Official Rush Website and it was blank, just a 'terms of use' footer. Is this it? Are we getting an update? Have I jumped the gun?
  14. QUOTE (Andrew1 @ Mar 30 2010, 04:28 AM) A midget running a hot dog stand should come out every 3 or 4 songs selling his product to strippers in wheelchairs wearing hockey masks. Before the next song, they would drag out these 8 foot replicas of those 'Star Wars' glasses from 'Burger King' one at a time. By the end of the show, he would have the whole collection behind him. No. That would be stupid. How about a giant lava lamp that shot sparks and lasers out of the top. Rock and Roll!
  15. QUOTE (Rush Cocky @ Jun 21 2009, 10:45 PM) QUOTE (mankad89 @ Jun 21 2009, 06:43 PM) lol your wife doesn't like Rush altogether? Basically...... Oh well, can't win'em all.....I still love her. I think wives tolerate Rush occasionally, but I don't think I could cope with a Rush wife anyway. Rush are mine .. Anyway, Mission will not leave me alone .. great song, should have been on Power Windows because the sound and feel are identical, maybe between, Grand Designs and my favourite, Manhatten Project. But still, get out my head !!

  17. The only game invented by Americans is Basketball. Everything else is just a bastardisation of games that were exported. And don't tell me it should be a 'z' (Zed not Zee) in Bastardisation because you are wrong. And there IS a 'u' in Colour. For a country that gets so much right, .. .. Any Hoo. Quality posting and of course, its Heavy Metal Cricket .. Rush always get slapped with the Prog label because some of their work kinda sounds like Led Zep, Pink Floyd etc .. but hey .. it doesn't matter. Rush have mellowed, like all bands do. Its no good waiting for the next Moving Pictures or Farewell To Kings .. it'll never happen. You missed it. Get over it
