  1. Well I like my wish set list much much better and I am still not happy with it because it cuts out too many awesome songs (still in refinemnt btw lol) but a way better hope to hear that than this impo, eventhough there are some awesome songs here also... Truth is I will be happy whatever the final decision will be made by the Boy's. Can't happen soon enough if you ask me.
  2. "Adam's Rib" a deal that will remain infamous (and quite curious) of couurse
  3. How can I count the ways, I have become an addict of subtraction! T-Minus 52 Daze & Count Down on schedule. I was pondering of the much anticipated R-40 Set List. All the discussions & speculation of post contents regarding set list chemistry has created within me an excitement so thick I could cut it with a knife. How hard could it be? I asked myself, just some songs, a couple of favorites off each album with with some time left over for a decent encore. My 1st attempt with picking some awesome songs using a 180 minute time limit made it to Counter Parts with a whopping 11 minutes & 40 seconds +- I realized some regrouping was in order. So I had to let go of my self while trying to create a set list that ( I would love to hear lol) & had at least one song off every Rush album (excluding Feedback, what would be the point???). Turned out, is alot harder than one would think (one being me of course) So I added and subtracted moved this changed this, changed that and still not quite saying to me self "this is the most awesome set list ever".. Well some sparks signaled fires and my conclusion was to throw it out there. Now I realize I may be opening a gate to the Tobes of Hades but I figured what the hell. Here is a set list that is within .11 of 180 minutes I hope you enjoy. Finding My Way (5:06) By-Tor and the Snowdog (8:37) Bastille Day (4:37) Overture (4:32) II. Temples of Syrinx (2:13) Xanadu (11:08) The Trees (4:46) La Villa Strangiato (instrumental 9:35) The Spirit of Radio (4:57) Jacob's Ladder (7:28) Natural Science (9:16) Witch Hunt (Part III of Fear) (4:43) Vital Signs (4:43) The Analog Kid (4:46) The Enemy Within (Part I of Fear) (4:34) Red Lenses (4:42)w, drum solo +3:00 The Big Money (5:36) Mystic Rhythms (5:54) Force Ten (4:28) Mission (5:15) Chain Lightning (4:33) The Pass (4:51) Bravado (4:56) Face Up (3:54) Stick It Out (4:30) Leave That Thing Alone (instrumental 4:05) Test For Echo (5:56) Driven (4:27) Ghost Rider (5:41) Far Cry (5:21) 9. Headlong Flight (7:20) Limelight (4:19) Thank God I don't have to do this for a living. :rush:
  4. I have two that I am torn between; #1- Moving Pictures warm up, 1980 Philidelphia Spectrum. Nostalgic vote- 1st live show Hooked! #2- R-30 2004 Ford Amphitheater (Tampa) Most Memorable vote- Had the whole family (wife & 3 Kids ages 6,11 &15) on the lawn, beautiful magical night :Alex: :Neil: :geddy:
  5. The Spirit Of Radio= Radio staton morning program ad oops that's the reason the song was written Thanks Capt. Obvious LOL The Necromancer= Ad for your local psychic or tea leaf reader Red Barchetta= Car dealership Dog Years= Dog food or Vet The Trees= Tree trimming service Co.'s La Villa Strangiato= Hotel ad Hey this is kinda fun
  6. I think they will open the R40 the same as they did R30. As far as the 1st full song I would say Carvan or The Big Money. I would love if they used the Three Stooges theme song prior to the R40 as well but I realize that would be highly unlikely
  7. Ughh the dreded medley Noooooooo!! Not too bad of a sound for cover tunes. Although I have to admit, it must be a blast to sit around and JAM Rush as opposed to sitting around and listining Good Job... Rock On!!
  8. This idea has to be as silly as the woman who wanted to bring a 6 month old baby to a Rush concert!!! I remember the days of warm up bands and it sucked! I would rather Geddy use voice enhancement synths to save his voice than have a shortened show and a chance of the return of the dreded medley ughhh. An evening with Rush should be just that an evening with Rush period.
  9. Geddy is going to sing, play bass, keyboards work foot synths & make a peanutbutter and jelly sandwhich at the same time. the only thing that is hard for me to believe is, I heard Geddy doesn't even like peanutbutter and jelly. with all seriousness aside any of the options listed Shark Whisperer would be HALARIOUS
  10. And everyone will gather on the 24th of May, in Tampa & I will be there too!!, I will need Oxygen for where my seats are but I will go with my tried and true philosophy. " In there at least is where it's at!" I believe we're 9th in the order so once spoilers come with the set list I will have time to guess if we get the A or B set list. ;-P If they of course continue with that format style which of course I hope they do.
  11. My all time favorites is the one when Alex shreds the guitar Geddy sings while slappin da bass and the professor poetically pounds the drum skins into submission, from Rush to Clock Work Angeles... Not necessarily in that order... Disclaimer; No disrespect to John Rutsy
  12. I have traveled great distances in time following this band. I have not been so efficient in terrestrial realm, only being able to go when our paths crossed while they were traveling and I was keeping station. Every experience a unique moment of awe. I hope when everyone will gather on the 24th of May (lyrical punn intended) in Tampa, it will not be the last. God it would be so cool if they played "Lake Side Park" on that evening. Ooops there I go dreaming again ;-P
  13. I have been re-enjoying this Counterparts record for a couple of days now. To me it's like reading a good book. Each & everytime you do, you discover something different. Even if just the passage of time in our own lives changes the interpretation. I think I actually posted this comment on another thread but my sometimers (hasn't turned into alltimers yet) will not allow me to find it and copy/paste it so here goes. After all are there any bad rush songs? Some maybe completely wierd but not bad. impo anyhoo Play'em ALL ;-P This time I was able to copy and paste nuff said ;-P
  14. oh man their not going to play "LampLight" what a fray let it begin!!! ;-P
  15. It is all a great rotation of awesome music. Thank you Rush!!!
  16. Oh yeah ANIMATE!! I have to get my cd out & give it a few (revisit) spins (yeah I know cd old tech LOL) and give this colection a new life at the top of the pile... I love the live cut on Different Stages. Ahhh sooooo many songs to live by ;-P
  17. Tell her to get a breast pump store some reserves and get a BABY sitter!! I have had all my kids at a Rush concert but the youngest of the bunch was 6 and we were on the lawn in an outdoor amphetheater R-30 AWESOME experience. younger than 5, (impo) wouldn't recomend. She will have a much better time and so will the baby.
  18. I think I actually posted this comment on another thread but my sometimers (hasn't turned into alltimers yet) will not allow me to find it and copy/paste it so here goes. After all are there any bad rush songs? Some maybe completely wierd but not bad. impo anyhoo Play'em ALL ;-P
  19. I actually really like Double Agent & love Leave That Thing Alone. I love the deep cuts oh yeah Alien Shore too ;-)
  20. I love both albums (term album a hint of my age lol) voted for Permenant Waves for sentimental reasons. it truely was the the "Gateway" of my Rush Rules attitude. Prior to the release of Permenant Waves I was aware of Rush I knew songs like Working Man, Fly by Night, 2112 etc. what ever was played on the radio. In those daze I was Led Zep or Pink Floyd guru. So Permenant Waves was released the 1st Rush album ever bought by me. I remember when I actually listened ( & relistened) to Natural Science and realizing impo the best track of the whole collection, and that was never hardly played on the radio triggered a noble thought. If this album had a song so intensely tight and incredible what were on the other albums I had never heard. And so the collecting began 2212, Hemispheres, A Fairwell to kings. I will never forget when I bought Caress of Steel in second hand store and was like Holy $#!T this band is gonna be my favorite band forever! I actually remember the look of shock on my cousin's & best friend's face when I proclaimed to them "as far as I am concerned Rush blew Led Zep outta the water"!! So Rush did not play Philly for Permenant Waves, instead they played Hershey Park (PA) I remember WMMR or WYSP (Philly rock radio stations at the time) starting a petition to get the boys to play Philly. There was one even passed around in the halls of my high school that I signed. I think they got like 100000 signatures from all across the Deleware vally. Rush did play Philly for the Moving Pictures warm up tour & I think every tour after that. It was my 1st show & I was litterally blown away. After that there was never ever ever going to be doubt who would be at the top of my musical world. I have tried to catch them live everywhere I have lived and they visited and have been pretty successful if I might add lol. I would personally would love to witness them perform ALL their records in the entirety but I know that is just a fancifull wish. I would also like to add I saw Signals performed in Philly as well they did play countdown but I have to confess I did not appreciate it then as much as I do now. I would be thrilled to witness it now. One should never lose hope of what might be brought out of the vault. I was at one time convinced I would never witness The Camera Eye live again. Then The Time Machine Tour was conceived and whala there I was in (standing) my seat practically in tears living the dream. " the hopeful depend on a world without end, whatever the hopeless may say"!!! BTW I will be attending the Tampa Show ;-) Hope to see all of you there!!!
  21. The opening bit for the The Weapon was classic. It involved a video skit with Joe Flaherty doing his dracula type character " Count Floyd" from second city television. Now for you kids out there, 2nd city was a SNL type comedy show where John Candy, Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis, Harold Ramis, Cathrine O'Hara, Andria Martin & Dave Thomas got their start. It was a flat out cutting edge riot of a comedy show, and I belive there is some of the skits on you tube. Anyhoo back to Count Floyd. The Count was a parody of the classic Saturday mid day horror movie host that a lot of sindicated tv statons used to air after the morning cartoons concluded to keep kids tuned in. His shtick was to always introduce "A real scary story" to the audience. Well in the intro to The Weapon the bit was about "A real scary song" in which the listener could not enjoy to it's full potential without their 3-D glasses. It was a classic bit. It's hard to believe I even remember things from those daze :-P But I was a huge fan of SCTV and a HUGE fan of Rush & I love the song so I guess it stuck. In retrospect (pun intended) this was probably part of the creative concept of having main stream celeb's doing video funnies for the shows. such as the likes of Jerry Stiller doing the intro video of the the S&A tour or having Paul Rudd & that other guy (I know he's Jason Segal) as the "I love you man" characters doing the back stage with Niels sandwhich. I only got to hear Xanadu once in it's entirety some where back when they were performing the song to pick the best recording for Exit Stage Left. after that only a few bars were incoorpereted into the dreded (impo) medley. I really didn't like the medley eventhough I understood the concept of trying to let the fans at least hear parts of their favorite songs in the short time (after opening acts) they had to perform the vast amount (even way back then) of material they had. I would of preferred a complete song in it's entirety as opposed to chopped up little bits. Then they moved into the evening with format virtually eliminated the medley. Eventhough the brought it back for the opening of R-30
  22. I went to the box office at the Amalie Arena in Tampa I thought that would be my best bet having to avoid the whole Ticket Master dibacle. I have had great success using his method in the past and fortunately Tampa is a well visited city. In the way past it seemed they would try to visit the area during spring break due to the fact the Toronto Blue Jays have their spring training just across the bay. I even checked the Tampa Bay Rays schedule ( for $#!ts & giggles) to see if they hosted the Blue Jays near May 24th (the Tampa date) on a Sunday night ughhh lol. Anyhoo going directly to the box office is a doable senario for me for Tampa shows. I have even waited long after the start of ticket sales and ended up with pretty decent seats. Tampa is not like a northern city so eventhough there is a considerable amount of Rush fans down here shows very rarely sell out within the 1st month or two or even at all. Don't get me wrong there is always a good showing and enrgetic crowds. It,s just the following is not prolific down here. Now I have been backstage (GUP/PW warm up tour Lakeland FL 03/11/1985)-BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE!!!- on the general admission floor (anyone remember those daze?) 1st, 6th, 12th row. 1st, 2nd level Alex's side Geddy's side center etc. lawn (various venues, various cities 1981 to present), I even sat outside of the Ford amphitheater TM tour 10/01/2010 when I was layed off during the great recession and had to feed my family and couldn't afford to buy tickets. Many experiences during my long tenure as a Rush fan concert attender. So I figured with all the hype and my own reasoning that this may be the last opportunity to be able to see these guys perform live again in my/their lifetime. I figured I better go t the box office the day tickets went on sale. Not too big of a crowd when tickets went on sale at 10am I0-12 people ahaed of me (in my line). I'm thinkin good deal I'll be scoring some decent seats. then I start hearing the others in front of me grumbling and incredulous comments on what seats are avalable. by the time I am 3 peeps back only 3rd level available wOw this is a new experience for me lol. So when it's my turn the sweet lady does "best available" search for two seats together like 3 rows up 3rd level off center center Ged's side $75 a pop another new experience for me shelling out that amount out for 3rd Level !!! I can already hear my wifes voice in the back of my head, thank God it was my 51st Birthday so I had a solid out lol. So when I ask if there is a chance there may be two seats in a wee better spot the lady says if she looks there will be a chance I will lose the "good" seats I have. I immediately think conspiracy! lol so not wanting to take a chance of getting pushed farther up where I may need to have oxygen lol and that with an arena I couldn't just sit out side, I took'em. Now as I metioned before and one who is reading this may have come to the conclusion that my view is "in there at all is where it's at" I actually in my old age prefer to be towards the back upper 1st level lower 2nd level center stage. IMPO it is the best mix of sound waves that are generated and eminating from the stage collide for a very well mixed sound. it seems the closer to the stage on the floor more of the music is shot over your head and a bit muddled impo. It is also provides a more visual experience to see the whole interaction and movements of the light show and lets not forget the big video screens so you can see an edited view of the boys up close. I know you don't get to see the famed interaction and funny poses or be able to catch a tee shirt but to me it just sounds better set back a bit. So I have to find my binoculars and let the anticipation start building that I will be in there! and that is where it's at!...
