  1. It took me a few listens, and then another listen or 2 just to absorb this one...now it's getting stuck in my head and really becoming one of my favorites off the album. Like someone mentioned, it may take a listen(s) separate from the rest of the album. The intro was instant greatness for me though...so freakin' cool.
  2. It's so early for this, but I'm a sucker for rankings... hERe i gO... 1. Clockwork Angels (you know why) 2. Seven Cities of Gold (hell yes!) 3. The Garden (beau-ti-ful) 4. The Anarchist (growing on me by the listen, love intro) 5. Wish them Well (stuck in my head, love the melody) 6. The Wreckers (great song, a bit repeatitive though) 7. Headlong Flight (could drop some, a bit long..bit of a chore to listen) 8. BU2B (nice re-mix) 9. Carnies (still too fresh to rank higher...for now) 10. Caravan (burned out at this point...no longer "thinking big") 11. Halo Effect (too fresh to my ears to judge) 12. BU2B2 (yep) ...I made it through, but I feel dirty.
  3. QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Jun 12 2012, 07:05 PM) QUOTE (A rocket that ignites itself @ Jun 12 2012, 07:02 PM) I was pleasantly surprised how nice the hard cover cd book from the fanpack is. It really is a beautiful package, compared to the average soft digipack that seems to get dinged up just by looking at it. Only downside is the lack of the band pic...odd. Bottom line, if you have the means to get the fanpack...it's well worth it. Oh sure, rub it in! Aarrrrghhh!!!!!! Bastid..! Sorry about that...certainly don't mean to! But hey, it's the music that counts...I'd pay full price if it came in a brown paper bag.
  4. I'm really into seven cities. Hit me hard on first listen...love the rawness. The vocals might be pretty straining live though.
  5. I believe it was around $27 u.s. 16.99 pounds.
  6. QUOTE (treeduck @ Jun 12 2012, 04:04 PM) QUOTE (treeduck @ Jun 12 2012, 03:59 PM) BU2B2... And now... Wish Them Well... Wish Them Well has been seriously underrated by all those pre-release reviewers... So true...it's a quality song. Catchy as hell, and it's a nice change-up at that point of the album.

  8. I think it's a song you can form an opinion on fairly quick because it's straight forward and so catchy. I had a feeling I was going to really like this track...and I do!
  9. Damn...I couldn't find my name in the "Eric's" on that posted photo. Ordered the pack on the day before deadline. Might be there outside the pic. Still waiting for the pack here in Minnesota. I'm buying a second copy on the 12th if it isn't at my door that day.
  10. I want to fully enjoy the album day of release. I have no problem waiting at this point. 3 full songs and teaser clips feed the excitement, but I can hold out one week more.
  11. Seriously hard to pick. I went with the underdog "Wish the Well" because I'm craving some killer melodic Rush to mix with the heavy 3 songs released. 7 cities and the title track intrique me...hell, this whole album does...of course.
  12. King's X is my slam dunk, without question 2nd favorite band after Rush. The heaviness mixed with those harmonies is greatness. I'm an Ear Candy and Mr. Bulbous guy...but I love their whole catalog. Fav song? "Move Me"
  13. A little King's X vibe would be pretty sweet since I'm a big fan. I have a good feeling about this song from the short sample. Might be a melodic gem (single?) which is what I'm craving compared to the new tracks we've heard so far.
  14. I have 21. I'm somewhat addicted to collecting them. My favorite is either the Signals tour retro look (not original), or the white S&A needlepoint style.
  15. I'm a DT fan, but once you experience "An evening with Rush"...there's no going back.
  16. I voted option 6. It's still just very hard to say with 3 songs to compare with a full album. S&A had some instant classic material like "Far Cry", and "Armor and Sword" that's going to be hard to to top. Dig the new songs, but they don't blow me away. All said, I'm hyped and confident CA will offer some goosebump material in full songs...just haven't heard it yet. Headlong Flight certainly has its moments though, no doubt.
  17. I give the nod to HF... all three songs rank fairly close with me. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing when it comes to how the whole album might be. No matter what, I'm very excited for CA. Unfortunately, I just haven't been blown away (yet) like I was when first hit with "Far Cry", or "Armor and Sword"...and a few other S&A tracks.

    Rate S&A

Solid 8. Far Cry and Armor & Sword are all-time greats...goosebump inducing from first listen. Workin' them Angels...MarNar...Monkey Biz...very strong. I actually love Faithless and Good News First also. Bravest Face, We hold on, and yes, Spindrift are the weak points. All I can say is I was very high on S & A from first few listens, and it holds up today...
  19. QUOTE (myturn2drive @ Mar 15 2012, 02:51 PM)Hey...new guy on the forum. Been a Rush fan since I was 15 (that was 1989 BTW) First "New" rush album I purchased was Presto (still a fave because it was my first)...went back and worked my way through the catalogue...and have been a Rush fanatic ever since. I have been lurking for awhile...I feel about Rush the way I do about life. Do I agree with a lot of people that the "old school" albums are better...yes. But I also wish i was 15 again...but Rush will never re-do Moving Pictures or Hemisphere just like I will never be 15 again. The music of Rush keeps evolving...my god...just the fact that they are still making music, and are more relevant now than ever is a miracle. I really thought, after the dark year that was 1997-1998 that there would never be another Rush album, and more importantly, another tour. I do agree that those who don't like the newer music have a right to their opinion, but If you don't like the band anymore, why waste time posting on a site with nothing but negative stuff? I used to love Queensryche, but since Empire I think they've gone in the tank...guess what, i don't go on any Queensryche fan forums just to complain about the new queensryche music! Anyway...nuff said Hey there...welcome to the forum. Great post. Just wanted to say you kind of mirror me as a Rush fan...Presto was my first Rush album at the same age...had to "discover" the whole catalog from that point. Also feel the same way about Queensryche as you do...
  20. For me it's Rush...then King's X. Nobody else really comes close.
  21. I wear my Rush shirts (collect them...slight fetish) often out in public in the summer time. A few weeks ago I was picking up a quick meal in a mall food court while a 20 something old dude was in line with his friends...he had a roll the bones tee on! (I had a S&A shirt on). Struck up a quick convo with him....he said it was his Dad's shirt, but he was a fan also. Many other times I've gotten the "Duuuuuude, Rush ruuuuules!" reaction.
  22. I've always felt Cut to the Chase was a monster waiting to be unleashed live...would be perfect in the 2nd or 3rd spot of a setlist. My favorite track off of CP.
  23. Jacob's Ladder...a couple of weeks ago. I usually only check out radio when a local station has their "album side thursdays". Got to hear side 1 of Permanent Waves. A few months back they played side 2 of A Farewell to Kings...hearing Cygnus X-1 on the radio was a trip!
