  1. T4E Driven Time & Motion OLV Earthshine Secret Touch Nocturn Far Cry WTA A&S TMMB I love CA so that album needs to stand on its own IMO.
  2. Well not really. It was more for color than anything. I would notice because I’m a drum nerd.
  3. I know he used it on TMMB, Carnies, 7CoG
  4. Just to throw this out as a total tangent (yet tangentially related): Drummers today are so f***ing amazing it’s hard to imagine how much technically better they can become. Metal drummers, even though I generally don’t care for most of the genre, are f***ing octopus’ on speed. Them, jazz drummers...Everyone has independent limbs playing multiple polyrhythms. But...they all kinda sound the same to me. That’s what set Neil apart is that he didn’t sound like most other drummers especially pre-T4E...when he tried to become less compositional did he start to drift toward sounding like your everyday drummer octopus. Cary on.
  5. That PeW - Signals Tama kit was excellent and was mixed superbly. The Red Tamas were fantastic and also mixed superbly as the synths expanded The HYF Ludwig kit was amazing loved that sound T4E forward the drums sound like wet logs made out of dog turds.
  6. Agreed. Especially about the drums...they’re very muddy and most of the toms sound the same so that certain parts it’s hard for me to make out exactly what Neil is doing.
  7. But if you tell everyone in a song...is it really a Secret Touch??
  8. Some of you people are real tools. It's a pick-up charity jam with the bass player from Chicago and Robby Krieger of the Doors, for crying out loud. Under the circumstances, I'd say this cover sounded better than I'd have expected it to. And for his part, Al sounds in prime shape. Better tone than he had for a good portion of R40. Gives me more faith than ever that Al and Ged should find a drummer and get out on the road next year. I’m sure none of us ever played in Tool.
  9. It is not, it is juvenile!!!! You really don't have any sense of humour at all, do you? It was too predictable to be funny. I new what this thread was before I clicked on it. So you presupposed and projected your negativity! Wish fulfillment in action!!!
  10. I hate respecting things I don’t like! I also hate choices contrary to mine. Enough with the sarcasm tama boy I hate ending the sarcasm
  11. I hate respecting things I don’t like! I also hate choices contrary to mine.
  12. It is, well...yes it is Neil Pert. Very well done I might add. The thought of Elwood being literally on fire during this song is disturbing however.
  13. I like some songs...some pretty good riffs here and there. I have to say that it is refreshing to hear guitar playing that isn’t the “look at how much I’ve practiced my scales” typical metal shredding that all sounds the same to me. The singer emulating Plant is about as far as I go win the Zep comparisons. From what I’ve heard the drummer and the bass player are decent but in no way should be compared to JPJ & Bonzo. They’re so young and have yet to even find “their” sound if they ever do.
  14. Considering you listen to heavily watered down pop punk and very VERY commercialised "emo" that owes nothing to that genres roots, I find it surprising you sound so jaded against a back to the roots rock n roll album like this. It sounds fresh and vintage, and we are living in a day and age in urgent need for rock to have another gamechanging moment like Nirvana. This band is showing great promise of bringing crowds back. It shouldn't matter if they sound old, they have a sound that anyone who loves guitar music can be drawn too. No overdubs, Facebook meme-worthy lyrics, no cliche breakdowns or top 40-esque pop production. This is a great rock album. A PURE rock album. Like YYNot this year, they could be on the verge of true greatness. I listen to many things. Production matters a lot to me. Guitars matter a lot to me. Proficiency matters a lot to me. Great songs and albums matter more. If you ain’t got the songs, I lose much of my interest, and prior to a few of the singles I’ve heard from this album, GVF had very little in their songs that interested me. As far as them sounding like zep, it isn’t that they sound like zep. It’s that they sound like they want to sound like zep, down to the last vocal warble. To me, that makes them sound robotic, calculated, but without good songs. If you tossed me a tape of randomly selected and jumbled together clips of actual LZ songs, it would have the same effect on me. I understand who they’re emulating; I don’t understand what they bring to the table. EDIT: also I’ve definitely heard some embarrassing lyrics from them. To be fair, Zeppelin had some bad lyrics as well. The difference is Plant was cool enough to pull it off and not have anybody care. sex and hobbits, what else is there to sing about? Sex with hobbits.
  15. Seems we only had to wait til Friday to find out... https://m.facebook.c...&type=3 Is that Kevin Shirley with them? Yep... https://www.instagra.../p/BpXI7kNFUW6/ Well what do you know? Guess this blows the "Neil doesn't speak to Alex and Geddy anymore" idea out of the water. They don’t. You can see..nay...FEEL the tension in that photograph. Don’t be fooled by the perfunctory smiles.
  16. I thought Test for Echo sounded good...it’s just that I don’t like most of the songs all that much The toms on T4E sound so muddy...I think it had something to do with the coated heads (same for VT...) but it’s not a good drum mix.
  17. Second Encore: Victor Still At the End 3rd Encore: A joke 4rh Encore: Alex rant with a dance
  18. The Gents are far too old for more of the lengthy “An evening with Rush” concerts any more. So here’s a more traditional set list: Emotion Detector Madrigal By-Tor & The Snowdog: Part 2 - Across the Styx Cygnus X-1: Book 2: Hemispheres: Part VI: The Sphere Hope Resist (acoustic version) The Fountain of Lamneth: Part IV: Panacea The Color of Right Tears Heresy Hand Over Fist Before And After Encore: 2112: Part 3: Discovery
  19. I heard John Bonham will fill in for Neil. FALSE! It will be a hologram of Bonzo behind a hologram of Keith Moon’s “Pictures if Lily” drum kit while a hologram of Neil hides in a coat closet for fear of human interaction while the real life Michael keeps predators from Holo-Neil.
  20. Halloween 40.... Was AWSOME!! Most of the time was soooo tense waiting for something, Times I jumped, Times I cringed...one time watching Michael clear a house that I actually said out loud: “oh no dont mchael!” Two thumbs up!! Sincerely, Siskel & Shalit!
  21. The only legit “replacement” is: Phuck Yoo
  22. F.UCK ME DEAD people! Here’s how to interpret this: Neil doesn’t interact with soul mates Ged/Al. Once his obligations to Rush were done, he was done. They don’t get together on weekends for giggly pillow fights and talk about cute girls. They don’t hang out. They don’t...well, nothing. IF...IF...to repeat...IF there is to ever be new music of any sort (read: NEVER) then it will only be The Ged/Al Goodtime Jamboree Multitrack Chorale Experience. /end
