  1. QUOTE (syrinxstarman @ Jun 13 2012, 09:03 AM) If you read the synopsis for BU2B2, it sounds like the main character is recalling it from memory after Headlong Flight. Doesn't seem like it was ever meant to be repeated on the record. This.

QUOTE (Earthshine_sf @ Jun 7 2012, 11:50 AM) QUOTE (English Muffin @ Jun 7 2012, 02:36 PM) QUOTE (Earthshine_sf @ Jun 7 2012, 08:22 PM) QUOTE (English Muffin @ Jun 7 2012, 12:18 PM)Just worked it out on acoustic, It is already one of my most favourite songs to play What are the chords? Its in D tuning and... Beginning - G F C G (as you would do those chords normally) Other part - Am C and then a run down from F to D (with the little dalada on the first string) Done by ear so probably not 100% accurate Open D? (D A D F# A D) I was just picking it out and didn't want to re-tune my guitar, so for those of you with a floating trem it is possible to play it in standard tuning. Verse F > E flat (sus 2 if you feel like it) > B flat Chorus Chords Gm > B flat > E flat > E flat with D bass> C > B flat (though it is doubled with the arpeggiated G (bass) D G D E flat D repeat with bass note changing G > B flat > E flat > D > C > B flat Middle section Just sort of plays around in F and FMaj7.
  4. I've not seen it mentioned here so I'll ask it. Does anyone else hear it? At about 4:05 mark, right after Geddy sings "Forever dwells in that moment" in the left channel there is a very subtle voice. Then in the right channel there is another voice under the vocals of "Hope is what remains to be seen." And then continues right after the next "Forever dwells in that moment." Now I'm used to hearing voices in my head but I think this is on the album itself. Crazy or no?

QUOTE (umoveme @ Jun 6 2012, 12:59 PM) QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Jun 6 2012, 01:48 PM) While I don't normally bring the negativity like trenken seems to, I am in agreement that this is a good song but nothing more than that. I don't think Geddy sounds awful on it and the way he sings it fits the song well. I'm still not understanding the whole "this is one of their best songs ever" line that's floating around here though. Once the newness of this song wears off and you think about how many great tunes this band has recorded over the years, hopefully everyone will come back to reality and realize this song just isn't the all time masterpiece you think it is. It's just a good song and a nice closing to the album and the story being told on Clockwork Angels, that's all. So, in your opinion, it's not realistic for me to really really like this song? "Hopefully, everyone will come back to reality" Don't you think that's kinda arrogant and silly? A song either makes you feel a certian way or it doesn't. Why do people try to convince others that a song is or isn't good? Shut up and hate the awesomeness that is The Garden already.
  6. It all started with Mike Tyson.
  7. Who's singing harmony? Or is it Geddy slowed down?

    The Garden

For me, as a musician, it's easy to get caught up in analysis and hear a song for it's pieces and not as a whole and end up missing the emotional nature of the song. That happened on the first couple of listens with this song. It's not that I didn't get it, I was just getting something else. Now I can hear it both ways depending on my listening mood. If that makes any sense.

    Clockwork Angels

I like how Neil imitates the ticking of a clock with his sticks counting out the beat in those couple spots.

  11. Funny. I was just pondering what the boys would think if you could travel back in time to the studio when they were recording Fly By Night and play The Garden for them. "This is you 40 years." I wonder if they'd like it?
  12. Nothing wrong with a little humor. Carnies in it's entirety! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=playe...ZYFqle7GvA#t=5s What show do you write for?

  18. Just saw it last night in San Diego. It. Was. Awesome! While It did lack a certain soul that Gilmore brings, it was well worth the price and quite the spectacle. The projection and sound quality was great. If you get a chance, go. Like Broadway on steroids but with good music.

QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ May 11 2012, 04:37 AM) QUOTE (lifeson90 @ May 11 2012, 07:36 AM) RTB's only problem with me is the general sound production light and tinny at times but overall a great well written rush classic album some fantastic tracks on there (if not all of em) my personal favs seem to be unpopular tunes with a lot of fans, Face Up Bet your Life Neurotica wheres my thing just a great great album I've said it a million times...but I LOVE Neurotica. Probably my favourite on the album. "SNAP!"
  20. I've had two Hyundais in a row and they've been great. Had the Tiburon and it was actually fun to drive. Then came the family so I got a 2007 Sonata and it has served me well. V6. Plenty of passing power and roomy. My nephew just got the newer Elantra. They are are really pretty good cars. You should go drive one, see if it's for you.
