  1. My observations... - They missed Tool from the Progressive Metal part - Hardly any mention of Scorpions or Thin Lizzy in the early metal years
  2. QUOTE (Pound of Obscure @ Jul 15 2012, 12:07 PM) QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Jul 12 2012, 07:37 PM) QUOTE (SlyJeff @ Jul 12 2012, 07:23 PM) The massive instrument break in that song isn't enough for you? the whole can't stop thinking big, in a world etc... there's too much singing throughout to me but glad you enjoy it. They do tend to latch on to a line they like wear it out in a song. Becomes a bit grating even if its a good line. The same with repeating choruses too much. Seems to be Ged's writing style now. Less is more in these regards I think. Yes, The Wreckers and Caravan are prime examples of this. Also The Garden. I think the song is ok, but damn that chorus is stretched a bit much IMO...
  3. QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Jul 15 2012, 11:21 AM) 1st 3 Obviously. Not even close...
  4. Has anyone seen this? I just finished watching it, and for the most part it's pretty good. A few bands were left out that should've been included, but highly recommended. Metal Evolution - IMDB http://www.bangerfilms.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Metal-Evolution-Cover1-213x300.jpg
  5. QUOTE (Tick @ Jul 15 2012, 09:18 AM) QUOTE (pedro2112 @ Jul 15 2012, 01:09 AM) If LaVilla does not win, then you all are worthless and weak. Natural Science! by far....not even close.
  6. QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Jul 10 2012, 07:18 PM) QUOTE (Two0neOneTwo @ Jul 4 2012, 01:47 PM) I predict that once this tune get's radio play, it will be huge. i highly doubt it. yeah, as if...
  7. S&A has about 3 good songs, CA has about 5....
  8. QUOTE (jnoble @ Jul 12 2012, 09:06 PM) And the messed up part of all of this is that Ged and Alex both specifically said that the last couple of albums had too many layers and overdubs and CA was going to get away from that. Way to follow through, guys This. WAY too much shit going on.....layers after layers. 3rd album in a row like this.
  9. QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Jul 12 2012, 06:19 PM) I'm not a fan of Caravan and one of the reasons is that I find Geddy singing too much, at least for me it's too much singing and not enough space. The chorus vocals are terrible....I can't stop thinking big?

  11. QUOTE (GeminiRising79 @ Jul 11 2012, 09:51 AM) QUOTE (eshine @ Jul 11 2012, 03:53 AM) I lift weights four times a week (us geezers have to try and stay in shape somehow lol) and I fully admit that I always listen to dance music when I work out. I know, I know - but I like it and it gets me going. But today I said what the hell and threw this on and it made for a GREAT workout CD. The whole thing starts with a bang and really keeps the momentum going right up to halo effect - which is a good time for a quick breather - then its off to the races again and by the time I got to Headlong Flight I was pretty much at full throttle. My workouts usually last about an hour so I was literally cooling down to The Garden, which was simply perfect. Not sure if this merits it's own thread, lol, but I thought it was neat so what the hell. Anyone here into physical fitness should give it a shot. - and cmon, the thread title is cute. Wouldn't work for me. I might get distracted and start laughing to myself when I hear "I can't stop thinking big" in the middle of a deltoid press. haha.....no kidding eh..
  12. QUOTE (ThinkingBig @ Jul 10 2012, 04:30 AM) QUOTE (losingit2k @ Jun 29 2012, 07:39 PM) Create you wish list for R40 tour: This is my R40 Wish list ( I think it will be CA heavy): Set 1: Far Cry Limelight Caravan Vapor Trail Cut to the Chase Clockwork Angels Where's my thing? Jacobs Ladder The Anarchist Kid Gloves Freewill 2112 Overture-Temples-Finale Set 2: Cold Fire Seven Cities of Gold Red Barchetta Test For Echo The Wreckers Lock And Key Middletown Dreams Distant Early Warning YYZ- Drum Solo Alex Solo- The Garden (Without Intro) Hemisphere (Prelude) Xanadu Encore: The Spirit of Radio Tom Sawyer Headlong Flight If they ever open with Far Cry, I'm walking out. don't worry.....won't happen.
  13. QUOTE (pedro2112 @ Jul 8 2012, 07:27 PM) Ummm no. Let's see... strings (and those softer older songs they'll play with the strings), and some of the highlights from CA are Halo Effect, Garden and Wreckers. I guess if you are used to Air Supply, this upcoming tour could be considered hard rocking...

I decided to do my own personal line graph to see if I agreed. If Tape Head / Mr. Bulbous hadn't been made, it would have been for me. http://i.imgur.com/QUiPr.png That's just wrong putting Bulbous that high and Planet that low. There's no way in freakin h*** Bulbous is their best record. A lot of people don't even like that record all that much. I realize it is YOUR opinion though. Bulbous is my favorite album by anyone. The band members themselves love it as well. And you're right, I did rank Planet too low oops, I did this relatively quick, it should be 3.82, my bad Bulbous is a great album... Clockwork Angels is better. Not to me it isn't.....
  15. He struggles a fair amount vocally on CA.....some of these songs are going to be tough for him to pull off and sound decent....

QUOTE (-D-RocK- @ Jun 17 2012, 06:06 PM) QUOTE (WCFIELDS @ Jun 17 2012, 05:52 PM) QUOTE (-D-RocK- @ Jun 17 2012, 05:00 PM) The OP needs to clean out his/her ears or get some decent speakers. CA sounds amazing. End of discussion. Before you slam people.....our resident Audio experts have some opinions in another thread about the mix/production......it may sound good to you, but others have expressed some issues with it.. Experts eh?..........hmmmm. Go to the Hoffman forums and argue with them, perhaps they need to clean out their ears (maybe suggest that to them)....
  17. QUOTE (theredtamasrule @ Jul 8 2012, 05:51 PM) QUOTE (NYM86 @ Jul 7 2012, 09:00 PM) ...how about a little Bravest Face? Because that song sucks. I tried it again today. And, yep, it still sucks. It belongs on a compilation album with Tai Shan, Rivendell, Face Up, Virtuality, Color of Right and most of Presto. Can't argue with any of this...
  18. QUOTE (DBJetsman @ Jul 8 2012, 06:30 PM) Sweet! I get to complain? Alright then: Seven Cities of Gold and Clockwork Angels are both horrible songs IMO. Seven Cities is pretty bad...but CA? Probably the best off the album IMO...
  19. The last half of the TM tour, he was terrible. Not expecting for vocals to be any better this tour. Over the years, he is progressively getting worse.....
  20. QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Jul 8 2012, 04:01 PM) instead of the garden play different strings.
  21. QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Jul 8 2012, 01:40 PM) QUOTE (trenken @ Jul 7 2012, 10:25 PM) I cant see them playing BU2B2 or Garden, so I would replace them with Carnies and 7 Cities, 2 songs people would be less likely to go on a beer run during since they're higher energy songs. this is correct. Agreed....I doubt they will play The Garden...
