  1. QUOTE (Lerxster @ Jun 18 2012, 08:59 AM) QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jun 18 2012, 07:24 AM) QUOTE (deslock @ Jun 18 2012, 05:23 AM) Was discussed at http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?showtopic=74531 IMO, technically Feedback is an EP and not a studio album (aka not an LP). For reference, Primus' 28:18 long "Animals Should Not Try to Act Like People" is generally referred to as an EP, not as a studio album. Of course, the real answer to whether CA is Rush's 19th or 20th studio album is "Who cares?" Obviously the marketing team at Roadrunner Records cares! But that still doesn't make it the 20th album. Except, Rush call it their 20th studio album. Who are we going to believe.. Rush or you? Yeah...but why are they calling it their 20th? Simple. It's a selling ploy. It sounds fantastic to be able to say 20th in the media, and all of the banners and such for CA. It's got a nice ring to it. Either way, I don't care. We will all disagree. Some consider Feedback, and others don't. I definitely don't. Feedback to me, is just a side-project for the band. Like I said before, if you recall back in 2004, Geddy stated that they wanted to go on tour for their 30th Anniversary, but "felt bad" going on tour without anything to 'support', so they decided to throw together this mini-EP of covers. To me, that sounds like a side project (similar to a solo album), and nothing more.
  2. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Jun 17 2012, 11:11 PM) If and everyone else in the media is calling it there 20th studio album, I'm jumping on the same bandwagon! There's a surprise... Nope, to me Feedback does not count. When I think studio albums, I think original material. It was a covers EP, and I wouldn't count it IMO. Still waiting for their 20th...
  3. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Jun 18 2012, 09:20 AM) QUOTE (metaldad @ Jun 18 2012, 07:11 AM) S&A is a Comback album huh ? That is some funny shit QUOTE (rushgoober)Have at it! Everything you said is entirely your subjective opinion, of course. In mine, VT wasn't nearly the travesty you make it, and S&A not nearly the welcome "comeback" you say. We can agree CA is awesome, but for me it isn't a second great album in a row, it's a first after the dull S&A. There's my opinion. Yep, and it's wrong...but hey...
  4. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Jun 18 2012, 06:47 AM) Then there's "The Garden," which everybody rates very highly, but it DESERVES it! I almost picked it as my 'overrated' song.
  5. Most overrated: Carnies This is a good song, but I've found it hard to connect to just yet personally. I've seen quite a bit of love for this one, and it's rankin. I do love the intro riff that opens the song, but then it seems to just go off in a completely different direction with the verses, which sound a bit 'odd' to me. The bridge section is also very awesome in this song. So, while it's a good song, it's a bottom 3-4 song for me on CA. Most underrated: Seven Cities of Gold I've seen a ton of threads now asking people to rank their CA songs in order of their liking, and I've seen Seven Cities consistently showing up in people's bottom 2-3 on the album. That is absolutely mind-boggling to me. This song is fantastic...the lyrics are great, and the music absolutely rocks. The intro to this song is so cool, and then it kicks into Alex's face-melting riff, just awesome. Easily a Top 3-4 song for me on an album full of awesome tunes.
  6. QUOTE (Tombstone Mountain @ Jun 18 2012, 08:47 AM) The song is about wrecking a ship on the shore where pirates are waitin' for ya...the guitar evokes almost a sprightly feeling at beginning...doesn't coincide with seriousness of subject matter. Chorus sounds hopeless.
  7. I love BOTH albums...and as of right now, not sure where I'd rank either one against each other. I just enjoy them both...like I said in the other thread, considering both albums were written from their mid-50's and forward, they should be proud of both efforts. I doubt many other bands could put out albums of this quality at this stage in their careers.
  8. Well, you're not going to get too many arguments from me. As you know, I am a huge fan of S&A and I love CA. Both outstanding albums, and IMO, two that they should be very proud of considering they were both written from their mid-50's and forward. Amazing. Ironically, I'm listening to VT today. I certainly don't hate it, or even really dislike it (outside of the sound quality), but it does still rank at the bottom for me in terms of albums. Just hasn't aged all that well IMO. But what do I know? I actually really like TFE as well.
  9. Incorrect. The Wreckers is actually one of the best songs on CA.
  10. QUOTE (beherit @ Jun 17 2012, 10:36 PM) the battle continues...
  11. Awesome! Yeah, I've decided to go. It's this coming weekend...looking forward to it for sure!
  12. QUOTE (WCFIELDS @ Jun 16 2012, 12:28 AM) Wish them well, Carnies, and Halo Effect.....skip them Yeah, I'm not sick of them per se, but these three along with BU2B2 are my least played tracks. The remaining 8 are top-notch Rush IMO.
  13. QUOTE (CygnusX-1Bk2 @ Jun 15 2012, 08:27 PM) QUOTE (ThinkingBig @ Jun 15 2012, 04:34 PM) Another f-ing audiophile thread... http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nFIjc2-NDAc/Tw4FqQuNNaI/AAAAAAAAAlU/OhuivJ7u6xc/s1600/worf-startrek-facepalm.gif If we just pretend to agree with these audio "experts" that come out of the woodwork, will they go away? Out of the woodwork? Dude, I am a moderator here... Of the audio gear section. Is it too much to ask for a good sounding album? In this day and age apparently so. The material would sink in much better if it were slightly more listenable. I dare anyone who listens to CA and likes it listen to any non Rush recording from 1979 or before and tell me which sounds better. If you say CA then you are "drinking the Kool-Aid" and are not listening with your ears. Yep...and that's the problem. So many people drink the kool-aid. Like I've stated a million times, I like every Rush song...period. Fanboi-ish? Maybe. But yeah...to me, the mix on CA could be way better. Does it mean I like it any less? Not really...I still LOVE CA. It's a fantastic album that proves the guys still have it. So many awesome songs. But the mix could be better. Why do people get so defensive over someone else's opinion? I wish others here would understand that you're not any less of a fan if you simply state something like, 'I wish the mix could be better'. Don't worry...we still believe you're a fan.

I suppose you'll be pissed off if they produce another album. Nah I'd love it if they kept making awesome music like this. But I'm a realist. They are getting older and I think they may wanna end on a fantastic note... But if they kept going like this I'd be a very happy kitty. I'd like more, of course, but: 1. Time isn't on their side. 2. They'll want to go out with their strongest stuff, and Clockwork Angels will be hard to top. 3. "The Garden" is a classy farewell; myself and others could still be happy if this were the goodbye. Just sayin'. I don't want a "classy" farewell. I want a 'kick you in the balls, METAL up your ass, beast-mode, spit on you and never call you back, hard-rocking, 20 minute' epic to close out their last album. Just sayin'. That's what the rest of the album, UP TO "The Garden," was for. Hypothetically, let's say they release one more album... and it's a piece of doo-doo. Satisfied with that ending? At least CA is a big crowd-pleaser for the fans, a nice way to go out. Up to this point...Rush hasn't released an album of doo-doo. I more than have faith in them...
  15. QUOTE (metaldad @ Jun 15 2012, 04:25 PM) This song sounds like a Pop tune It's awesome! Better than Halo Effect for sure!

Not even close to worth it to me for a difference you'll only barely notice on an expensive system. I bought it, and i can hear you bitching way more clearer Go f**k yourself and dont quote me everytime I type something. f***ing dickhead up my ass all day. Dont you have any hobbies or anything? EDIT- Nevermind, the dude is over 20 years older than me. Im not arguing with some old cranky bitch. Let's just set something straight here, people. As mentioned in many other threads, this album is not as dynamic, crisp, or balanced as other Rush works. This should not, and does not, however, diminish this album's musical prowess. Nobody said it did...Trenken just mentioned that he didn't find the slight change in HD worth the money. Valid opinion. Nobody was really referring to the musical prowess of CA in this case.
  17. QUOTE (tupelobarchetta @ Jun 15 2012, 04:35 PM) 1-19. It varies, depending on how I feel and what I'm in the mood to listen to. 20. Feedback.

The CA songs where they ARE required would sound way more epic than some sampled string parts. Doesn't Rush use enough samples already? No.......they don't use enough samples already? I beg to differ. Samples > Orchestra Samples > Orchestra. Really? are Samples of Geddy > Geddy? Besically, why not just play the CD and have us watch them on the big sceens. ED have you ever seen an Orchestra play live? "Cause I sing with an orchestra on a yearly basis. I'm tell you it would be awseome." Yes, I have seen them. As mentioned before, I have nothing against orchestras. I've seen them before...and I enjoy them. This is strictly a conversation about RUSH using them. I stand by my feelings of not caring to see an orchestra at a RUSH show. I like the trio as is. very well, we agaee to disagree! More power (trio) to you! However, or better UnfortunatelyI don't think they could pull Losing It off with triggers, only a Live Violinist or preferably "Ben Mink" himself would make it happen. Haha...we've disagreed alot lately it seems. Hopefully, it's providing some kind of humour to the other TRF'ers tuning in.

Posting an "h" is a way of saying: "Your thread is so bad, it doesn't warrant a comment... but know that I've seen your thread and I feel that way about it." Why "h"?

  22. The only thing I'll add to this is the same thing I mentioned on a different orchestra thread a few weeks back. If they decided to do like a one-off, or two-show performance with a full orchestra (a la KISS and Metallica), that'd be cool with me. In fact, I might even go if it's around here. But for the full-on tour...I'd like to see a typical Rush show with just the trio kicking ass and taking names.
