  1. It's still fantastic to these ears. A Top 3-4 song on CA for me probably...love it.
  2. QUOTE (Rushman14 @ Jun 22 2012, 01:11 PM) QUOTE (trenken @ Jun 22 2012, 09:54 AM) QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Jun 22 2012, 10:39 AM) QUOTE (trenken @ Jun 21 2012, 10:09 PM) I think the worst part of it for me is when they released Caravan and BU2B they sounded pretty good. caravan and bu2b never sounded good to me. The quality of them never sounded good, or the songs themselves? 2 different things really. Im just commenting on the sound. They did sound better before when you compare them, especially when you blast them. The original versions had a cleaner sound, more punch to them. Just listen to the bass drum in the originals which was powerful, then its weak as hell in the new versions, and all throughout the rest of the songs. They definitely changed something during the recording of the other songs, realized the other 2 dont match anymore and tweaked them to fit the rest. Trenken, for the first time I think we actually agree on something. It's a Christmas miracle! I definitely agree that the originals were a bit more 'crisp' if you will. I noticed a change. But...I do really like the addition of the acoustic intro to BU2B.
  3. Really, isn't the true turncoat the one that started this whole thread? I mean...it seems pretty obvious that Treeduck knows all about being a turncoat. Now...be a true turncoat and come join the Buccaneers TD! You no longer have a team worth cheering for anyways!
  4. Here is an excerpt from a recent interview that Ged did with Billy Corgan. Here is what Geddy had to say about fansites: ... OK. What I do is largely stay away from the sites that talk about our band because there's so much chatter that I don't want to be influenced by. Our fans come to see us, and there's a fair exchange going on in that room. I'm working my ass off for them, and they're hearing the songs they want to hear, hopefully, and showing me some love, throwing it back up on stage to me. "That's the only thing that I can see as part of my job. If I start mining for opinions on hundreds of websites that have fan forums, I'll be totally distored in my view of myself. I'll lose myself in all that." ... Needless to say, it's probably best that none of them come here when I think of some of the crazy threads that get made.
  5. It's true...this song was originally written as a B-side for Roll The Bones.
  6. QUOTE (Motorshooter @ Jun 22 2012, 01:00 PM) Nope, I'm at the second night of the tour...I can wait Nice!
  7. I picked none at all of course. But if there is one...shove 'em as far back and off to the side as possible. If I'm gonna sit near the stage, I want to see the boys only. (BTW...center is the worst possible choice)

If you don't like the band, then a thread about them is probably not for you to read? Is Gene Simmons a greedy bastard? Yes. But does the band suck? Definitely not. you're right. after classics like asylum and psycho circus, how can I dislike this band? I liked KISS when I was 8 years old.

  11. It's got a slight bit of a 'throwback' vibe, certainly more than S&A or VT. But at the same time, like any new Rush album, they find a way to add new emotion, and a new feel to it and make it more relevant for this particular time and year. Certainly the longer songs, and some extended 'jams' within some of the songs are definitely throwback ideas. The 'concept' idea could also be considered a throwback as well. Bottom line for me is, it works and I'm happy with the album. Definitely.
  12. QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Jun 20 2012, 03:47 PM) I don't care how good it is compared to anything else, so long as it's just plain good. The rest takes care of itself. That's the key. With Rush especially, I never compare any album to another. It's clear as day that no two albums are usually the same, and yet, they manage to make them good regardless. I think that sometimes, some Rush fans simply cannot like much of any new Rush album because they're too busy comparing it to Hemispheres or MP, and being 'disappointed' that it doesn't match up to them. Big mistake IMO. I'm a realist in that, their run from say 2112 - HYF was amazing. Like, insanely great. I mean, how many bands are able to string together 9 albums in a row that are THAT strong, and that so many of their fans enjoy as much as they do? Not many at all. So these days, when I put a new Rush album in, I'm simply listening to it as a regular fan of music and figuring out, 'do I like this?', 'Is it good to my ears?' Well, with S&A...the answer was YES. With CA, the answer is once again, YES. These albums may not be another PeW or MP, but I'm okay with that. At almost 60 years of age, these guys have so many reasons to be proud. Their new music is still relevant, and still has fans like me fired up to hear it live.
  13. QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Jun 21 2012, 01:06 AM) I thought the Snakes & Arrows fives songs in a row during that tour was an absolute lull!! Some of you guys want the entire CA record to be played all the way through? I hope that doesn't happen. They need to mix it up!!!!!!! Damn straight Earl!
  14. QUOTE (MJH @ Jun 20 2012, 01:38 PM) I tried to resist last 3 tours...can't help it.copy of list always in back pocket. I do not want to miss any new material,or something old that I never saw live before. ...then simply don't leave your seat. Problem solved.
  15. QUOTE (metaldad @ Jun 20 2012, 08:07 PM) QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Jun 20 2012, 06:39 PM) They've shit so bad on their legacy since Q2K that I can't even begin to care about this. I thought they fu*ked up after Promised Land . I really think this is giving them a kick in the pants . Screw Tate Agreed. The only album I enjoyed since then was Tribe, and what a coincidence, Chris DeGarmo came back to assist with writing on that one. Outside of that...they have been on a major free-fall from HITNF and beyond.
  16. QUOTE (A rocket that ignites itself @ Jun 20 2012, 05:12 PM) Wow... I've been on somewhat of a Queensryche binge lately...rediscovering some of their catalog, and listening to some other material for the first time. Not sure what to think of the band going forward... Better days ahead...
  17. QUOTE (beherit @ Jun 20 2012, 07:04 PM) ^except ace and peter who were smart enough to leave (or lucky enough to get fired, i dunno the story)
