  1. Indeed, Rush are not done and will release albums for years upon years! Great interview with a lot of hints. Just a couple of weeks now.....
  2. If all the reviews we have read so far are based on 1 listen, then I wouldnt put too much value in them. How much can a human being digest within 1 hour? Some of this and some of that, yes, even I could write some b shit about that. But the full understanding does not come after only 1 listen.
  3. QUOTE (Steely Caress @ May 19 2012, 10:57 PM)Old Rush = Great New Rush= Good Old Rush - Extraterrestial New Rush - Stellar
  4. It is not possible to write an review of a Rush album based on 1 listen.
  5. Well, I have accepted that Rush, or noone else, will top the 2112-HYF releases (though Counterparts should also be included). If you can accept that, I think you also can skip the comparison and just enjoy the high quality that Rush still delivers. That is up to S&A at least. CA could maybe deliver some surprises after what I have read.
  6. ASIA have never had an better guitarist than Guthrie Govan. That man is a pure genious!
  7. QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ May 15 2012, 12:05 PM) QUOTE (Snowman @ May 14 2012, 03:57 PM) Have you heard Von Hertzen Brothers? My Webpage They are tremendous. So melodic. Stars Aligned was one of my favourites from last year. They have indeed become one of my favourite bands the last few years. The 3 brothers from Finland! That trumpet solo on The Willing Victim is just pure awesomeness!!
  8. It is impossible to say that Rage for order has not aged well! Nothing as experimental within prog metal has been released since! My favourite song are probably from Warning, Take Hold Of The Flame.
  9. QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ May 18 2012, 08:42 AM)LOVE this album. It's fantastic. Jake E. Lee kind of became the forgotten child between the legendary Randy Rhodes and the popular/long-tenured Zakk Wylde. Both 'Bark' and 'Ultimate Sin' are fantastic albums...two of my favourites from Ozzy. The Ultimate Sin has some amazing stuff on it. I'd put Secret Loser, Lightning Strikes, Fool Like You, and Shot In The Dark amongst Ozzy's very best songs. I love them all. This album rocks hard! X 2 I like the Jake albums better than the Randy albums, that riff on Bark is just pure awesomeness! Too sad that Sharon had to sack him...... He did some awesome stuff with Badlands as well High Wire And that vocalist, Ray Gillen (RIP).......He had some pipes! Dont know what Jake does now. He played at the Working Man Rush tribute, but that must be decades ago now...

  11. Agreed, why all this comparisons all the time. I am just glad they still release interesting music. It will be a sad day when I get the message of their retirement. I think their new music is splendid. I still listen to and enjoy Caravan and BU2B, 2 years after the release. That is a quality stamp IMO.
  12. I am fan of the John Payne era.

    Headlong Flight

Neil is crazy on this tune. It so fun to hear. Sounds like there are several drummers sometime.
  14. I have been i n a Accept modus the last few weeks! I copied this Discography from Wiki. It seems like there are a lot of albums I have not heard. 1979: Accept 1980: I'm a Rebel 1981: Breaker 1982: Restless and Wild 1983: Balls to the Wall 1985: Metal Heart 1986: Russian Roulette 1989: Eat the Heat 1993: Objection Overruled 1994: Death Row 1996: Predator 2010: Blood of the Nations 2012: Stalingrad The 3 first for example, are they any good? The albums from Eat the Heat up to Predator, are they any good?
  15. I always get the creeps out of the Postman Pat theme tune. It must be something in my childhood.....
  16. You mix SnA with VT? Accept may well be entering my top 10 favourite bands! Lack of keys are counter measured with just pure heavy awesomeness.
  17. Indeed a good question. So I asked myself the question, listened to the song on my way to work this morning, and my answer is a big YES. I would definately not have gotten it at once (as usual with Rush), but I would have recognized its qualities and given it a second listen, then a third, then a fourth, etc. It is not Hemispheres, it is not Moving Pictures, nor Signals. But for me that does not matter. I dont think I will ever hear such quality albums by any band ever again. The top albums from Rush are like 20 points of max 10. It is hilarious to compare against such albums.
  18. QUOTE (Del_Duio @ Apr 19 2012, 07:11 AM) Orchestra + Signals dog on the tour book = Losing It live. This could be valid. I'd love to hear Losing It live.
  19. QUOTE (lundquistaudio @ Apr 19 2012, 11:49 AM) As a life-long Rush fan and been in Rush cover bands, I don't think I've ever liked a Rush album on first listen... but they grow and grow on me. Headlong flight: On first listen, I am undecided. Can't understand the words... don't like the vocal sound (on the streaming version at least). song structure seems random and disjointed. No real hook. 2nd listen, after looking at lyrics: love the lyrics, starting to find the hook, liking the vocal lines. Like the guitar parts that sound like Bastille Day and Cygnus, although they seem a little "sloppy" like someone said, if that's possible for Rush. Next day listen, getting used to the song structure, although it still doesn't seem to "stick" with me, like Caravan and BU2B, especially Caravan hit me with a hook. HF sounds like Vapor Trails to me, lots of good bass lines and vocals, thick guitar chords get a little boring without lead lines or keyboards. Too long for what it is, not progressive. Will have to see how the rest of the album shakes out. Chris www.lundquistaudio.com Hooks and structured songs belongs to the 1980-2007 era. Rush have revisited pre 1980 with longer and more complex arragements. I have always wished for this to happen. I only miss the keys.
