  1. Todd Sucherman, one of finest living drummers, comments on meeting Neil. https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/rock/8547859/todd-sucherman-neil-peart-rush
  2. Call in show about Neil Peart tomorrow. https://eddietrunk.com/1-10-20-rip-neil-peart/
  3. That's a long time in hospice care. I can only speak to my experience with both my mom and grandfather dying from cancer. But in both cases, death was imminent. They knew within a few days they would be gone so hospice was the only option left. If Neil was in hospice care for that long, he is a fighter beyond what any words can describe. I don't know how long Neil was in hospice, but I know that a person can be in hospice for many weeks with this type of cancer. Due to being in the brain, it's an especially cruel form of cancer. My mom passed from the same type of cancer as Neil, and at the same age. I find the coincidence to be rather poignant. I have had a band member in past pass away from what I assume was same form of cancer. I know it was a brain tumor and I know the doctors only gave him a few months to live although he ended up surviving for about a year. He was a bass player and even did quite a few shows with us after the diagnoses. That is living right to the end I guess. RIP Jim....
  4. I read somewhere that Neil had been in hospice care since November of last year. Anybody confirm or deny this? Can't remember where I saw that.
  5. I know that Kenny Aronoff of Mellencamp, Gil Moore of Triumph, and Mike Portnoy all knew that Neil was sick the last couple years. Kudos to them for keeping it tight to the vest. Kenny said that the family was trying to arrange for himself and Neil to have dinner about a year ago, but word came back that Neil was not feeling up to it.
  6. What lines stick out to you concerning Neil's passing or your own grieving? "Suddenly you were gone....from all the lives you left your mark upon" "When I heard that he was gone...I felt a shadow cross my heart" Yours?
  7. I have read Neil's Roadshow book probably 30 times at least. I just received 3 part Neil Peart travel book series as a Christmas present. Reading these now takes on a whole new meaning being that there will be no more travels. I will cherish every word.
  8. ^^^^^^^^Downloaded this above on youtube earlier today.
  9. Regardless of Neil's thoughts on an afterlife or lack thereof, I'm just glad he spoke out at the hypocrisy of organized religion in America and the GOP party in general. Most people that call themselves "Christians" are anything but. If you have read his books, he goes into detail on his thoughts.
  10. Not that it's important at this time, but I wonder how long it will take Ged and Alex to do a formal interview. Going to be a tough spot to be in and keep it together.
  11. Haven't been here in years. How have you all been? I'm sure all of you feel like I do. It's unreal. Like twilight zone. I was in the store as well when my brother called and gave me the news. I could barely stand for a couple minutes. I've mourned celebrities before, but none of their deaths have affected me like a family member. That's how much Neil meant for so many of us. Says so much about the man. I owe so much to his inspiration. Thanks for everything Neil.....
  12. Fair enough. I'm also a huge Stephen King and Dean Koontz fan. I don't think I have to tell you King's thoughts on Trump.(check out his twitter)
  13. Trump is the anti-Rush. Not much intelligence and no common sense to speak of and intolerance for immigrants here in America. Sorry, but anybody on this board that can still support this idiot, I have lost respect for.
  14. I don't give a fudge what two Canadians and a rich prick in Los Angels thinks. An Obama third term is underserved. It's time for real economic growth not more butt hurt Identity Politics. It's time for an all time clown that doesn't take security briefings and discounts the entire intelligence community and fills his cabinet with wall street? Not to mention that he's a fascist and a misogynist and hired a former white supremacist as his right hand man. Talk about undeserved. He is already raping our country(much like his personal life) and he's not even in office yet. Wait until all those Trump voters lose their Medicaid and Social Security. You thought those seniors were angry at the rallies. Haven't seen anything yet. Also, so glad Neil supports the Democratic side. With his reputation around here of being an asshole(mostly not true), I was afraid he went over to the dark side.
  15. Love the Obama footage. I'm not a democrat, but I have a feeling people will be praying for Obama back down the road considering what is coming. I would love to hear all the Rush member's takes on what has transpired in America. I know Lee and Lifeson aren't happy. Not sure how Neil feels.
  16. Grace Under Pressure- This was the time I was becoming a Rush fanatic so it will always hold a special place. First time seeing Rush live as well. July,3,1984.....Market Square Arena.....Indianapolis.
  17. Think "vocals better than Geddy, guitar playing as good as, if not better at times, than Alex". http://dai.ly/x2ryd7l?start=82 Then think of a rhythm section that couldn't carry Ged and Neil's jock strap. LOL!
  18. Alex.....Geddy.....it's not that difficult. Just start an All Star type band and call it something other than Rush. Get a younger singer so Geddy can just concentrate on playing. Get a drummer and maybe a separate keyboard player. I don't think they should waste their time waiting to see if Neil will come around. Time is a tickin. With only one album or double album with the new project, they would probably have to tour with other acts as there would not be that much material to draw from, but I think the Rush fans would still show up. They could throw in a few Rush songs here and there mixed with new stuff. Do it!
  19. This came during Neil's introspective period. The song isn't the greatest, but the lyrics are. These are my favorite type of lyrics along with other songs like Neurotica, War Paint, Enemy Within, Stick It Out, and Double Agent and so forth. I actually thought Neil was going through therapy back in the day by some of the lyrics he was writing. They hit home as well as I've always had issues with anxiety.
  20. I think you totally missed the meaning of that quote. "Praise of the praiseworthy" means receiving praise from someone who deserves it as much or more than you do. He's referring to the compliment he received from Stewart Copeland in this case. It's coming from a humble place. I've heard Neil talk about that saying in one of his other books. No wonder Neil is so misunderstood.
  21. It's cool that Alex got to show a different side, but it's not a side that ever would have landed a recording contract. Just too weird. I would love to hear Alex get another shot at it with different collaborators.
  22. Yep, the album has some high points, but in the end it's just too weird. Speaking of solo albums, now might be a perfect time for both Ged and Alex to do solo record number two.
  23. Ghost Rider was moving, but boring and hard to get through. Roadshow is awesome. I learned so much about areas of the US I haven't been to and just a major rock tour in general. I loved reading the stories of his old bicycle rides as that is one of my interests as well. There are also old stories of Rush on the road and recording and everything else. Lots of inside drumming stuff. Just a great book.
  24. Anybody in the US want to buy my hardcover copy of Roadshow, I will sell it for $10. I've read the thing at least 10 times through. Maybe even 20. Great book.
