  1. Listening to nothing but Rush is more like only eating chicken with all the variations: fried, grilled, baked, etc. But yeah, it’s still only chicken. Listening to nothing but :rush: is like only eating Angus Ribeye steaks pared with a nice Malbec. Then summer comes and once in a while you want a nice outdoor table, a crisp cool Chardonnay and a Cesar salad with grilled chicken. Luckily TruRushFansTM have MFH or Victor to spin... ;)
  2. He is only that way because he doesn't like to be around people, and some shy people (Me included) don't like people to the point where they treat em like shit. Thou, he is a bit of a dick, he isn't as bad as some other celebs out there honestly. You know that ‘thou’ is an archaic pronoun and ‘though’ is an adverb, don’t you? I like saying thou, so shut Up. Saying “thou”or writing “thou”? both ...how about typing?
  3. "...I could walk away so proud...It's easy enough if you don't laugh too loud..."
  4. Wow, really? That would have been an odd and Puzzling choice. I can’t think of too many songs in their catalog that would be less interesting to hear live than Hand Over Fist. It's just Neil's way of wanting to say "f**k you" to the fans just one more time. Exactly, except Geddy would be singing it for him.... ;)
  5. ^^^ Well, those Mormon's are such a timid bunch.... ;) ...cue...3...2..
  6. [brit Troll] "We Hold On, because it means the bloody album is finally over" [/brit Troll] :P
  7. Maybe Neil let it be known he need some love...after all he's not working, man...
  8. D-bag means douchebag. Don't see why he had to call Neil that in the title. My other choice got bleeped out... Still it isn't okay or right on a public message board to call him that. Do it on your own time elsewhere. He's been called worse. The moderators make the rules and that apparently doesn't violate them. Besides, that's just like, your opinion, man (get over it). As for the write up, there's no way I'm reading that after the first few sentences. The guy is clearly a fawning fan boy and couldn't write an objective review if his life depended on it. ...maybe he's hoping to get an autograph. :P
  9. D-bag aside, Is Neil actually expecting Rush fans to purchase this latest offering?
  10. Planet X-1

    Happy trails

    ....Indubitably
  11. On the R40 tour in Boston it certainly sounded like Geddy had some sort of vocal effect going on...I wouldn`t say auto-tune, but his normal speaking voice sounded artificial compared to what ends up on a DVD.
  12. Permanent Waves? Meh, it's not bad. Mix it in with Hemispheres and 2112 (which is nice, but bland, in cold futuristic way)
  13. Caress of Steel AFTK Moving Pictures Fly by Night Clockwork Angels Honorable Mention: All The World's A Stage Grace Under Pressure .....hmmmm...toss up after that...nothing remarkable, even cliched and silly... :P
  14. The guitar work on GUP is stellar, which is probably the last album Alex shined on. Conversely, GUP is the second release in a row with 'filler' tunes... Distant Early Warning = The Big Money (both tunes epitomize what a Rush song is all about - power - albeit in different styles) Afterimage > Grand Designs Red Sector A > Manhattan Project (preachy lyrics that could be on Snakes and Arrows ;)) The Enemy Within (filler) < Marathon (live version rules) The Body Electric > Territories Kid Gloves (EVH kiss my ass) > Middletown Dreams (killer riffs by Alex though, and nice lyrics by Neil.... :P) Red Lenses (filler, "Red dead redemption, get under my bed...your balls are blu...whatever") < Emotion Detector Between the Wheels (killer solo, splat this rabbit) > Mystic Rhythms edit: edited for kindness.... :D

    Alien Shore

Alien S I've always assumed that's the main reason it wasn't played. Alex played so many tricky solos live.....(or did anyway :P) I've read the solo was recorded as an afterthought to balance out the album (paraphrasing: 'there was nothing fast on guitar...') Perhaps he just didn`t care for the style of solo in a live set list?
  16. Start Today from Victor....should have been a Rush tune...
  17. ...clearly Neil failed to reach you...
  18. Neil's lyrics are usually either incredible or jaw-droppingly terrible. Not much in-between. More of the former than the latter, obviously, but there isn't much middle ground. Neil's lyrics start being consistently awesome with Power Windows and generally get better throughout their career, culminating on Snakes & Arrows, which is the best collection of Neil Peart lyrics ever assembled. Neil's lyrics prior to Permanent Waves are largely uninspired, boring, and pedantic with few exceptions. Should not agree, but kind of do. To wit... The hypocrites are slandering The sacred halls of Truth Ancient nobles showering Their bitterness on youth Can't we find The minds that made us strong Can't we learn To feel what's right and wrong :eyeroll: What exactly is wrong with those lyrics? sophomoric Could you give us an example of lyrics you don't find sophomoric? Dreams flow across the heartland... Fantastic line. The whole song is lyrically fantastic! :eyeroll: Yeah, yeah... We are conditioned to our responses.
  19. the solo for Limelight off of ESL...
  20. I’m not saying they wouldn’t play Rush tunes. I’m saying this is fantasy land so pick non-Rush songs. I’m saying if you guys had the choice of Rush songs or not, you’d pick Rush. Of course you would. But we’ve picked Rush songs for a set list a billion times over. My bad, I took number 3 literally... 3) No Rush tunes from ANY Rush release can be chosen.
  21. No way there's a full Lee/Lifeson Tour without Rush tunes being played...Rush is Alex and Geddy... A tiny glimmer of hope is 1%, so I chose option 1 (which coincidentally is the same likelihood Neil ever plays the drums again ;) )
  22. ...your wallet is now $27.99 lighter....;)
