  1. I was Ty Burrell's (Phil Dunphy on Modern Family) pest control guy in Salt Lake City for a year. The first 6 or 7 times I talked to him I had no clue who he was. Once it was pointed out to me, I just kept on like I didn't know. At that time I'd never seen the show so it was pretty easy. He's as nice a guy as you'll ever meet. His house wasn't even all that showy. Bigger than average, but not ridiculous.
  2. What? Presto was recorded without a bass guitar.
  3. Geddy didn't play bass on Red Tide, or any other song on Presto
  4. Geddy and Alex should work with Phil Rudd of ACDC. I'd love to hear what some of these songs sound like with a real groove, and no one grooves better than Rudd.
  5. Victor Wooten is one of the 3 most influential musicians to ever pick up the instrument. I love Geddy but he doesn't belong on the Mount Rushmore of Bass Players. He'd be on the 2nd group of four though. The first four have to be Paul McCartney, James Jamerson, Victor Wooten and Jaco. Then I'd go with Geddy(just barely over Chris Squire) Stanley Clarke, Steve Harris and John Entwistle. Surely you realize that these two tiers that you've constructed are insanely subjective. Everyone on the second tier has had as much influence as anyone on the first tier If it were insanely subjective it'd be Kip Winger, Gene Simmons, Sheryl Crow and Dee Dee Ramone.
  6. With Hemispheres that would take them to the beginning of Cygnus, a perfect ending point. 2112 would be midway through Presentation. They'd have to do the typical parts I,II and VIi Fountain would be midway through Panacea. Shoot me now.
  7. 60% I've talked to know about Rush and MAYBE can name Tom Sawyer but aren't fans. 38% have never heard of Rush. 2% like Rush..."like" meaning that they have Moving Pictures OR can name a handful of songs they like but don't own any albums OR have been to some Rush gigs/have a few of the albums Doesn't exactly sound like Super Bowl caliber name recognition does it?

  9. Just how popular do you folks think Rush really is in the real world??
  10. I am gonna go replay this now...not sure I have ever paid attention to the bass line! Wow. Its about the busiest bass line in Rush's entire catalogue. Transcribing it took forever.
  11. You know the part where you vomit when you hear the line "Naked in our unity"? It's right there.
  12. Moving Pictures. Although I do wish Camera Eye and Natural Science were flip flopped onto the other album. That would make MP untouchable.
  13. Which one is your best of the '80s? Exit Stage Left
  14. Brilliant record. The 2nd best of the 80's.
  15. A girl I took to see the Presto tour tried dancing to Show Me Don't Tell Me because that was the only song she knew.
  16. In '02 at Mohegan Sun, I was in the front row of the upper bowl directly above the soundboard. There was an air drummer sitting completely by himself in the open area directly behind the board. Head down, not watching the show, drumming like there was no tomorrow. i started listening specifically to the drums while watching this guy for about 5 minutes of Secret Touch. He nailed it. Geddy and Alex need to find that guy... It's his money I suppose, but doesn't seem a great way to enjoy a concert to me..... Me either, but drummers tend to be on a different level when it comes to geeking out. The only non-drummer I've seen that comes close is a bassist on the CP site who has a model of every bass Geddy has used over the years, including a Ricky double neck.

  18. Depends. If the song had any sort of groove to it, you'd know immediately.
  19. Do you have a favorite sports team? If so, NONE of the players on that team were present when your grandfather was cheering for the same team. You still love the team just as much. I don't see why bands can't continue the same way. See Yes.
