I've bought all the official releases, with the exception of the TM tour disc. So if they're unhappy with the 100 or so boots I have, most of which are from tours without a live release, tough titties for them. How hard would it have been to roll tape on a few shows from those yours? They'd be making a fortune right now if they had a Permanent Waves, Hemispheres, AFTK full show cd to release.

Rush has made millions milking their fans dry. I got no problem with scalpers doing the same. You folks are a reliable market. My Geddy Jazz bass that I bought for $500 in '98 is about the only thing they haven't obscenely marked up. I'll let it go for 3 grand.

Why not? Geddy and Alex are still up for it. At this stage of their career they shouldn't have to resort to touring clubs just because Grumpy McGrumpface doesn't want to. If they tour as Rush without Neil, they'll still fill 3000-5000 seat halls. Especially if he writes and records the new album. Onstage, he's far and away the most replaceable member. I say go for it.

I wonder if he was ever an equal member of the band contractually, along with Rudd and Cliff Williams. Ron Wood played with the Stones for over 20 years before he was made an equal member. Bon Jovi's bassist has always been on retainer. Contracts among bands are often screwy. That's why Rush can't just replace Neil and tour without his blessing. Financially, he's one-third of the partnership between them. If they were to replace him with someone, he still gets his share of the touring income while the replacement is on a salary.

Steve Perry, Don Henley and Glenn Frey. The Van Halen Brothers. Sharon Osbourne. Perry's decision not to tour the Trial By Fire album forced Ross Valory to declare bankruptcy. The Eagles purposely recorded lame live versions of old songs on Hell Freezes over specifically to keep Randy Meisner from receiving any royalties. Sharon Osbourne tried to re-record new drum and bass parts to Ozzy's first two solo albums to cut the original musicians out of royalties. And the Van Halen's are self explanatory.

I met Geddy and Alex in '97 briefly. I've talked backstage with Howard U. and Tony Geranios multiple times. I walked by Neil's bike backstage at Mohegan Sun. BY-TOR (the funny one) from CP golfed with Alex in Puerto Rico a few times at the start of whatever tour it was that started there. Alex tossed me a T-shirt in SLC in 2010, and Neil shot one to me in SLC in 2013. I actually gave both of them away.

So you want them to program Neil's drum parts with a drum machine......haha.....the machine would probably explode and come back with a "cannot compute" error message. This post is just dumb trying to downplay Neil's contribution to the band. What contribution? Drummers are like roaches. There's always more where they came from. It's us bass players that rule the world.

I don't see why Geddy and Alex can't just tour without Neil. They don't even need to replace him. Half of their show is already triggered, what's one more step on the pedal?
