You`re No Fun Anymore - Monty Python, Vol. 3
lerxt1990 replied to IbanezJem's topic in Video Vertigo
It's the fifth state that a Scotsman can achieve, sir. He's got to finish himself off by lunchtime or he thinks he's let down the Emperor, sir. Hoo, hoo, hoo. The little wascal has spiwit. :) Isn't that funny, sir... I've never come across that phrase before. Forty-two years I've been in the regular army and I've never heard that phrase. And I suppose you want to go and practice, eh? Marching up and down the square not good enough for you, eh? :moon: Yes, but I feel with a government grant I could make it a lot more silly. In the debate, a spokesman accused the Government of being silly and doing not at all good things. Yes, but why do they think they're birds? We are young blondes and brunettes, all between sixteen and nineteen-and-a-half. :hi: When played in the correct order they will squeak 'The Bells of St Mary's'. Also appearing were Carol Cleveland, Marie Anderson, Mrs. Idle, Madelaine Gaffney, Hazel Pethig... Er, look would you mind running along for ten minutes? Make it half an hour  Oh, do hurry Sir Horace, :bitchslap: your train leaves in twenty-eight minutes. I'm sorry I'm late, I couldn't find a kosher car park :sigh: I'm sorry it might have confused you a little, but we do this to try to break down the barriers, all right? :fistbump: Splitter. -
That's awesome.

My contention is that live Rush in general accomplishes this "great songs....show[ing]...their full potential." when they are finally played live. I would only quibble w that w last 2-3 albums because Geddy's voice got rough...

I saw an excellent tribute band and they clearly played Xanadu from the ESL version. May be an odd rememberance, but I remember Ceiling Unlimited being far better live than in studio.

Looking fwd to this.

Quality and humor are in the eye of the beholder for sure. I obviously enjoyed it more than some others - but my bar was not his best specials, but a "clearing the air" that happened to have some funny shit. If one understands the point of the special (in my opinion this wasn't designed at all to be one of his all out funny standups) I think it stands up very well (did everyone see his special on George Floyd?). Musings... -

To be fair, Cassisus Clay changed his name 52 years before Jenner did. Times have changed just a little bit since then so I didn't think it was a very fair comparison. Puff Daddy and Snoop Dogg have changed their names with zero controversy in the last decade. Puff Daddy's and Snoop Dogg's name changes were not controversial. And would not have been in 1965 either. That's part of the point. -

Congratulations on getting the very point of the special. Thats exactly what he was doing. I thought he did it masterfully. -
See if you can remember their name during the show. You'll laugh when it hits you.

The Closer. Is great - check it out. Laugh out loud funny imo.

I felt this at the Primus show - they did a good job w the music but what I didn't expect was a holy shit I wish I was looking at Rush right now tugging at my heart, and.. on those drums, I wish it was... him. When the crowd gave a big cheer for Neil it put a lump in my throat. Damnit. -
thats hilarious. having said that I know Im done adding people because all the suggested contacts are not people I am or want to be friends with hahaa.

The experience is base a lot on who you interact with. Ive found the unfollow feature or whatever invaluable. Its a fine way to interact with people you want to interact with. Its also an absolute garbage fire of screaming yelling and teeth gnashing. I've been able to keep contact with people from different phases of my life, it's been great. I also have access to people who I'd never have interacted with if FB didn't exist. Minor celebrities, people at NASA, Just as a couple of examples. It's always cool to have chats with people who's job has been to work on actual spacecraft. How would i do that in the old days? Go to some conference, maybe and interact for 15 seconds? The noise is to be avoided. But the good stuff is worth staying on the platform for. Exactly.

You mean the quality of the experience can be determined by the discretion everyone has the ability to exercise? :biggermushroomcloudexplodes: Hahahaaa

I saw the show Friday. It was really good. My God Les Bass tone (and playing of course) is utterly phenomenal. The Rush songs tugged on my heart - cheering for the boys, and special cheers for Neil, and I realized esp during Xanadu how much I f-cking miss my band playing live. I enjoyed the whole show - the energy, playing, song choices. Fing awesome.
