Guess what Rush song I heard in the store today? Part II
Pound of Obscure replied to Lorraine's topic in Rush
It wasn't a radio. And I don't make things up. I was just teasing. :) -
Guess what Rush song I heard in the store today? Part II
Pound of Obscure replied to Lorraine's topic in Rush
They don't play Rush on the radio. The 4 stations that still do, play Tom Sawyer, Limelight, TSOR, Fly By Night (for some reason) and CTTH. Sooooooo, if it wasn't one of those, I think you're making this up. :dweez: :laughing guy: -
Your Favorite Neil Lyrics

The fawn-eyed girl with sunbrowned legs, dances on the edge of his dreams. -
So where did you get the dvd of Auburn Hills 1994? I appear to have missed that in the collection. It is a bootleg... my copy is called, "A View From The Palace".... in-house vid presumably for luxury box guests.... I found it on YooToob.... Rock on! Oh. I've seen in on YouTube but he said he had it on dvd? So I thought somehow I missed a release of some kind, like in one of the 40th anniversary album things I haven't bought.

The R40 Tour: Was Geddy the only member that was happy?
Pound of Obscure replied to fraroc's topic in R40 Tour Forum
He was the new guy. They can get another new guy. No, just No. Geddy said there will be no Rush without the 3 of them. Geddy and Alex may make albums again some day but not as Rush. Period. I agree. It was mostly a joke about Neil being the new guy. -

Neil Peart Has Passed Away
Pound of Obscure replied to southpaw2k5's topic in NEIL PEART - 1952-2020
Her kick work seems a bit busier than Neil's, which I like in this case. Here's Peart's track, isolated. http://youtu.be/S-BEhgwVOvY Incredible. Nobody should smile playing Tom Sawyer. Neil always made it look harder. -
Song "Circumstances" - weak, average, good or great?

My favorite on the album which is saying a lot with La Villa sitting there. -

Really amazing seeing him play in that environment and hearing the drums like that. Got a bit of that from the front row once but the magnitude and force of how he plays still gets lost a bit with all the music and sound. The power he plays with is stunning. I kind of knew that from dissecting every note of every album and 17 concerts and everything else, but displayed like that really is, I don't know. Looking for an elusive word. Looking at his fairly skinny arms, I don't care how much is technique, he shouldn't be able to hit that hard with that kind of speed. I've played for 40 years, I know a few things. Neil was just a freak of nature.

Looks like my XM Select package gets 717. Does SiriusXM know when a radio is playing a specific station, like real time listener ratings? I assume they do, and assumed that was the reason they extended the tribute channel (twice) and decided to create a dedicated channel. I discovered there is a Tragically Hip channel so now I don't feel so special... Goodbye 90’s on Nine preset button, hello 717. Isn't 717 only an online station?

717? They have that many channels?

I think I've worked all the way back to denial again. This just can't be real. -

Neil Peart Has Passed Away

Agreed, and a positive is to donate to cancer research. I couldn't afford much but felt better for doing it in Neil's memory. Unfortunately, after spending thousands of hours researching cancer and communicating with leading cancer researchers around the world (including currently), I came to the conclusion that there's plenty of funding for cancer research, and the problem is that the money is often not well spent in terms making a real difference in preventing or treating cancer. If donating to cancer research, my suggestion would be to be very selective in making those donations. Money is rarely the rate limiting step in research. No amount of money makes a researcher smarter. -
That song ROCKS. Never understood its status among others like Tia Shan.
