  1. Fantastic! The best yet, and with a bare minimum of propaganda. An armchair travelers delight.
  2. OMFG!!!!! It's sounding really cool! Cyg for Lord God Emperor of Dune!!!!
  3. Excellent!! Never seen that vid before. Montrose was just fantastic. Too bad he didn't do the motorscooter intro on guitar, oh well.
  4. The only comparison I would make between them is that John Bonham was the Neil Peart of drinking. Let's just all be happy that Bonhams' only influence on Pratt was musically. Oh, and Peart most certainly does groove! Just not as often as Bonzo did due to the different musical styles of the bands.
  5. Laugh now lemmings. Now is your time. (which you obviously have way too much of) Now back to the interesting threads!!1!!
  6. Uncompromisin' Enterprisin' Anything but traquilizin' Right On Maude!!! Here's to the greatest male role model to ever burn a bra!
  7. They are very much missed, no doubt. Back when I used to play, 'The Cowboy Song' was one of my very favorites to do. It don't get much more fun than that! Great dynamics, lots of room to stretch out and improvise, ya gotta love it!
  8. class.... Class... CLASS.... SHUTT UPPP!!!!!! thank you. Young man, give me that knife.....
  9. Well, one thing we know for sure, POOT HAPPENS!! I think the 'steak 'n poot' had the sound effects added though. It was however, the first 'full monty' streaker I've seen!
  10. One of the best movies ever! I love how it examines the petty prejudices of each juror and how they've pre-judged the defendant based on their life experiences. (Particularly the father with the grudge against his son who is the last to give in) I also love how it shows the power of a single individual to overcome great odds when they know they're right and have the will to fight. There's some cool symbolism in the film too, like when the thunderstorm comes right when Fonda's character has made the first big point that gets people to thinking, and changes the first few minds. This movie has more squirm in your seat, uncomfortable moments than all the gory, slash and jab flicks combined. 12AM is real movie making folks.
  11. I think Price was underrated as an artist and was very good at what he did. He was a bit of a throwback to the early days of film when overacting was the rule, but he pulled it off better than most. My favorite Price film was The Raven, which also starred Boris Karloff, Peter Lorre, and Jack Nicholson (very young and wearing tights!) This version played very fast and loose with Poe's poem, was very campy and quite funny with tounge planted firmly in cheek. Along with the sometimes subtle, sometimes slapstick humor, there are also some rather poignant human nature moments in the film, and Price goes from one to the other with typical aplomb. The thing that intrigues me most about Price is that he was something of a dark side sex symbol in his day, but in retrospect was very, very gay. I marvel at how he managed to be big, dark, handsome and threatening, while always maintaining that effete edge that apparently was the real Vince. Once again we see high art and eccentricity walking hand in hand.
  12. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Dec 19 2006, 07:09 PM)Can I recommend two lighter films? The Apartment with Jack Lemmon Great flick! Really cutting edge for the time, and very funny. Who knew Shirley McLaine was so hot? I would also recommend Roman Holiday with perhaps the most beautiful woman ever, in her most adorable role, Audrey Hepburn.
  13. Great Idea!!!! My dog is a rescue mutt and simply the best companion I could ever imagine. He is loving, snuggly, smart, fun, athletic, obedient, thrifty, kind, thoughtful, reverent..... oh wait, I went into the boy scout code there... When I think about how many great dogs like mine are put down every day it just makes me sick. Say no to puppy mills.... adopt your next best friend! I've owned several pure breds in my life, and none even approached the quality of dog I have in my shepherd-retriever mix. Not only are mixes smarter and better natured, they have fewer health problems. I've donated to this cause before, and now I'll be doing it again. THX D-13!!!!
  14. I Heart!!!! One of the best live bands I've ever seen. The Wilson sisters are just fantastic, but I believe the most underrated member of the original band to be Roger Fisher who came up with some of my favorite guitar pieces ever.

  16. I haven't heard them yet. The post was just a total goof. I just couldn't resist making a Austin Powers reference when I saw the thread title. is generally about as progressive as I get.
  17. I tried listening to them, but all I could hear was Dr. Evil saying 'magMA'.
  18. That haven't been mentioned... Manic Mechanic - ZZ Top Little Deuce Coup - B Boys Trans Am - Hagar
  19. Bring back the Rick!!! At least live for the classic stuff.
  20. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Aug 26 2006, 09:35 AM) QUOTE (third hand grace @ Aug 26 2006, 07:39 AM) The best thing about them was the women at their concerts. for some reason they were extra hot and extra horny. Was it Paul Rodgers's looks that brought them in? It's Paul Rogers VOICE that brings 'em in. Perhaps the very best blue eyed soul voice in rock. My favorite example of it is a song I didn't see mentioned yet, Burning Sky.
  21. QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Aug 3 2006, 05:23 AM) http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a321/hemispheres2005/image13.jpg SON!! If it's that cheap nowdays I may have to take it back up! I don't even know if these makes exist any more, but which do you prefer; Apogee, or Graphix?
  22. 1. Mosquitoes have killed more people than any other animal. 2. Hippos are the most deadly African animal. 3. The Kodiak Grizzly is the largest (heaviest) land carnivore on the planet. 3b. Give me a Hippo over a Lion or Bear any day.
  23. QUOTE (Moonraker @ Mar 9 2006, 06:20 PM)QUOTE (rushgoober @ Mar 9 2006, 09:41 AM) QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Mar 9 2006, 08:45 AM) Even though I hate reality shows I'd check this one out once. Still, no amount of kick ass makeup will make one know what it's like to be another race. While that's true, there are things like a white man walking down the street and shopping where everyone thinks he's a black man and seeing how he's treated differently. Then there's a black man who dressed as a white man got a job as a bartender in a very white neighborhood and heard people talking about black people while they thought he was white. I think it will certainly give these people at least a sense of what it's like anyway, more so than just hearing people talk about race. It's definitely a pretty radical concept anyway... A concept that Eddie Murphy originally thought up for SNL over 20 years ago, lol. Seriously though, it is actually a good idea for a show, and an interesting direction, but I kinda feel that they are overdramatizing the cultural divide between blacks and whites, especially with so many other minorities on the rise. Then again that could just be my reaction from living in San Francisco, where ethnic culture is so much more diverse then most other regions of the US. I'm pretty sure 'Watermelon Man" got to it before Eddie Murphy. I'm interested to see if the white folks made up to be black will hear white folks being talked about by the black folks. Works both ways you know, though I somehow doubt that would make it to the screen.
