That Harry Potter Thread Is Growing Like A Snail's

QUOTE (Digital Man @ Jul 22 2009, 03:31 PM) QUOTE (treeduck @ Jul 21 2009, 04:55 PM) I just want to see fights and bitching and Mods getting cranky and coming down on people and people reacting to the mods, and I like to see one set of people get their way as that means the other side are gonna be bitching which gets the other posters complaining which brings the Mods back acting calm and coming down on the interlopers (and no one wants to see a Mod have an easy life on a forum) which leads to more bitching and fighting and baiting and I just eat my popcorn... You see? And this thread is doing ok in these regards. And so I chuckle to myself and shake my head and all is well with the world. The real problem I have with this post is the fact that just because a poster happens to be a mod it doesn't mean their post is done in "moderating mode". We are members here just like everyone else and are allowed to share our opinions like everyone else. It should be fairly obvious when we are "posting as mods" or regular members. Well said. -

QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Jul 21 2009, 09:27 PM) http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/foot...ex.html?cnn=yes I say total bullshit...Why a year after the fact and why didn't she go to the cops? Why do many rape victims decide to not go to the cops? Because they're ashamed (it's easy for us guys to not understand why a woman would be ashamed), and in a case like this, maybe she also thinks she'd never win against a huge sports celebrity like Ben. Several different scenarios as to why someone would not report a rape right away, or not at all. Or, it could be bullshit. A total money grab.

No! I honestly have never even opened up a Harry Potter book. That makes your opinions of the Harry Potter series completely invalid and moot. I've never read any of the books either, and because of that would never say others' appreciation of them is "silly." That would make me look childish, I would think. You're entitled to your opinion, but in this case, your opinion is meaningless and lame. Um, sure they are. So watching the movies doesn't count? I think they do. What a bunch of doggie doo doo. I was born to be lame. So, you've watched the movies? How many of them, and did you watch any one movie all the way through? -

QUOTE (jdouglas @ Jul 20 2009, 04:13 PM) QUOTE (_pete_ @ Jul 20 2009, 10:54 AM) So next year I'm shipping my Epi Sheraton off to someone to have some major work done to it. It's close to an AL355 now but it will be taken the rest of the way. Just the headstock changes really, and it looks like he has more of a chickhead knob for that wierd tone thingy (I'm not sure that's 100% true, I just felt like saying chickenhead really...) This is one of fav vids on youtube... In that vid the Gibson does sound better (brighter and punchier), but he did say the Epi still has the stock pickups. Stock Epi pickups don't compare to stock Gibsons. Put some Gibby pups in there and I'll bet that closes the gap a lot. -

QUOTE (jdouglas @ Jul 18 2009, 09:43 PM) I think the TRF should purchase it and raffle it off to one of it's loyal members. They are just swimming in Amazon.com sponsorship $$$. Where is 1001001, aka Deep Pockets? "Deep pockets"? How the hell did I earn THAT completely inaccurate nickname? And just for the record, that Amazon commission deal doesn't earn a whole lot for this site. Not even close. -
QUOTE (Mara @ Jul 18 2009, 06:18 PM) Typical nice-guy Canadian behavior. Instead of throwing a tantrum. . .he writes a song! Very funny! And that song accomplished a helluva lot more than a tantrum would have.

QUOTE (VarianStar @ Jul 17 2009, 11:54 AM) QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Jul 17 2009, 10:37 AM) Wasn't it not too long ago that we changed the name to this current one? I remember a lot of thought going into that name change. Do we really need to change it again? Sure, if the vast majority of the Alex ladies dislike the current name and like the new one then we have something to talk about...is that the case here? Not quite a lady, I stand corrected. It's easy to be in the habit of saying "ladies" when posting in the New World Women forum. -

QUOTE (Janie @ Jul 17 2009, 10:50 AM) QUOTE (Janie @ Jul 14 2009, 08:18 AM)I have a confession to make. I do not exactly dig the title name of this thread. I'd like to propose a new title. How about, "The Lerxst Lair?" I'm curious to hear what other people think about Al's thread title. Do you vote to change it, or keep it as is? The update is: Yes Me VS Sir L Nettie yaoi Maybe Jaye I'm going to wait to hear from YBT but I'm assuming this is a go. Are we getting a little ahead of ourselves? How about sullysue's opinion? Kittengirl? Baxtrice? rhyv? Lady April? AGP, who started this thread (even though she doesn't post much in it anymore)? GG, the mod of this forum? It's fine to want to change the name and get the opinions of others, but IMO you're not done yet. -

QUOTE (Quantum @ Jul 15 2009, 10:42 PM) I just learned the cause of the latest problems: It's the ball bearings. Of course. The flux capacitor is useless without properly working ball bearings. -

QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Jul 15 2009, 09:49 PM) QUOTE (fenderjazz @ Jul 15 2009, 09:47 PM) Database is down, so I can't get in and bring it up. We'll have to wait for Sundie. Thanks TRFers for a place to organize! We were just at your place over the weekend. Two different bars, same street. Where everyone knows your anonymous internet screenname! -

QUOTE (Ultra @ Jul 3 2009, 02:19 PM) QUOTE (Snowdog @ Jul 2 2009, 05:29 PM) Lagunitas Maximus IPA. I'm awfully disappointed in this one. Its an IPA with no hop bite or bitterness and an awfully funky taste. If you're an IPA fan, don't waste your time or money on this one. I definitely agree with this one. I picked up two of these a couple months ago, figuring it was worth a shot and was very disappointed. This beer is in nearly every tap of every bar in the bay area and carried in most grocery stores, but I have no idea what the appeal is, its just bad tasting to me. To me, Lagunitas is like Flying Dog -- a brewery with a high-profile rep, but who make beers that don't live up to that rep. You want to love their beers, but you never buy them again. -
James Cameron is not known for writing great dialogue, and "The Abyss" was some of his worst.

Does Roland Emmerich have any idea how to make a movie that doesn't involve wall-to-wall special effects? Weren't these "let's blow up famous landmarks/end of the world" disaster flicks old and tired as of ten years ago? That parody was funny, and accurate -- Emmerich didn't learn a thing about plotting and character development in film school. He hasn't made a decent movie (notice I didn't say "good") since 1994's "Stargate." "2012" feels the same as "ID4" and "Deep Impact.'' This movie's been there and done that. Emmerich and Michael Bay should go back to film school and take classes from Christopher Nolan and Spielberg on how to make a big budget action flick that isn't JUST about the F/X.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Jun 28 2009, 08:47 AM) seems i pretty much agree with everything here so far. and the comment about things being tough to see when transformers are fighting sometimes holds true for me too...not that its 'visual overload', its more like its all too close on the eyes so its hard to tell who's punching who and what's hitting what with what. too right on the bad humor/dialogue/story and hot women in the flick. That's Michael Bay for you. All sound and fury, signifying nothing. He hasn't directed a good movie since 1996's "The Rock." -
QUOTE (Midway Hawker @ Jul 8 2009, 11:52 PM) Love Stone, love IPAs, but this one is like death in a bottle... I think I can handle Arrogant Bastard with more ease.... I'd have to agree with that. AB is heavy and strong, but it doesn't obliterate your senses like Ruination does.

There are plenty of other threads where one can bitch about all things MJ. Let's not make this one of them.
