  1. Can I assume Megan Thee Stallion and Charlamagne Tha God are somehow related?
  2. And a couple days after the above AI video, Rick shows us the anti-AI. I heard this song a few months ago and figured he'd get around to covering it.
  3. I wrestled with the best vs. favorite thing. I should have figured Cornell would run away with this in a best format. Funny thing is, the idea for this poll popped into my head because I've been listening to a lot of AIC and STP lately.
  4. I'm still stuck. I like everyone listed here. Cornell is the easy reflex pick because of his raw talent, but Entre very nicely outlined the differing qualities of each of the five. I'm down to two. Staley conveys anguish better than anyone on this list (Rooster is a great example -- no one could have conveyed the angst and trepidation of those lyrics better than him) and has such a unique timbre. And he had the power to back it all up. Weiland, as Entre pointed out, is a chameleon. On any given album he can sound like three or four different singers, adopting a different personality to fit the band's diverse song styles, and on top of that he was a really good singer. He sounded awesome.
  5. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Stone Temple Pilots are what many would consider the "big five" of the '90s grunge bands. Some people say STP wasn't a grunge band since they originated in California and not from the Seattle grunge scene but they look right at home listed with the other four. All five bands featured notable lead vocalists. Kurt Cobain is probably the least accomplished as far as vocal talent, though his voice fits very well with Nirvana's music. The other four -- Chris Cornell, Scott Weiland, Layne Staley and Eddie Vedder -- are varying degrees of awesome. Four of the five died tragically and young -- only Pearl Jam's Vedder is still with us. Which of these five do you rank at the top? Votes are public.
  6. This is the first song that popped into my head. And it sucks that it's in my head now.
  7. Spoken like a true hockey fan -- I'm looking at it the same way. But make no mistake, the NHL and E$PN (Disney) really REALLY wanted the Rangers in the Final. I've run into so many people who don't normally watch hockey who were talking about the Rangers. They're a big market original six team and they'll always be one of the league's darlings because they pull in ratings and clicks. It must kill the suits that one of the two Florida teams have made the Final for the past five years in a row.
  8. Florida really found their legs as the series went on. Their forecheck is relentless .They'll be tough to beat in the Final.
  9. One of the headlines I saw today was, "Everyone knew Angel Hernandez's name. That was the problem." It's a good headline.
  10. RIP to a legend.
  11. It WOULD have gone to number one if Entre had listened to it more!!!
  12. Great song with a killer guitar solo.
  13. Same. I might have picked Promises In the Dark if it were included.
  14. Yes, that's fair. I mentioned Kenny G to illustrate the type of music both he and Sanborn play, more instrumental pop than traditional improvisational jazz.
  15. The Stars are running on all cylinders right now. All four lines are effective to the point where you can't really tell which line is on the ice, and the forwards and d-men are totally in sync. And they don't sit back in the 3rd when they have the lead, they keep pushing. It's impressive to watch.
  16. I always associated Sanborn with the soft jazz genre, though not as soft as Kenny G (eww). More pop jazz, maybe. Still, he had a long career playing the sax and he has my respect. RIP David.
  17. I can see the value of picking Flying High -- there are plenty of Van Halen songs that don't measure up to it -- but Unchained is a quintessential VH song. Eddie's guitar tone on that song (and on Fair Warning front to back) is flawless -- it's the best heavy guitar sound ever put to tape IMO.
  18. It's tough to vote against Eyes Without A Face , but the guitar parts in Rebel Yell are just too good.
  19. Unpinned, just an oversight. You get so used to seeing certain things in the spots where they've always been for almost 20 years you don't even think about them. Thanks for understanding.
  20. I just Googled him and came up with nothing. Which makes sense as he's a terrible writer. That review reads like a high school English class exercise, one that received a C-.
  21. Happy Together annoys me -- the lyrics, the chorus, the way the verses are sung, the whole song. BYG is not my favorite Van Morrison tune, but it's tough to vote against Van.
  22. Absolutely. If the Isles would have gotten past the Bolts a few years ago they would have met the Stars in the Final. Of course I'd pull for the Isles all the way, but that would have been fun.
  23. Play by play, or analyst? Their play guy is harmless enough, so I'm thinking you mean Daryl Reaugh, aka Razor, their color analyst. He's certainly unique with his offbeat humor and descriptive phrases, but he's super knowledgeable, and in my opinion he''s the best analyst in the game. And as for their goal song, custom made by hometown Pantera? Also the best in the game. I'm been to games at the AAC and it's a loud and fun place to see some hockey. Obviously you 100% disagree with all this.
