  1. I don't even answer the phone when I see numbers like that. Also, if you're utilities are going to be cut off, they don't give you the courtesy of a phone call right before. People actually fall for this? I don’t think it’s right to call out those “falling for this”. They might be naive or gullible but first, these are the actions of lowlife snakes. Yes, the con artists are lowlife snakes. Yes, their victims should be ashamed of themselves for being dumb enough to fall for the scams. Right right because shame is the answer when someone is f***ed out of their money by a scumbag. Shame is a subset of personal responsibility. It is everyone's responsibility to protect themselves from thieves and scam artists. Shame has long been an effective means of deterring bad behavior. If you teach children to have no personal shame, then you get shameless behavior, like what is happening in Washington, D.C. today. Okay so when your elderly mum is swindled out of any money please be the first in line to shame her. It’s the only way she’ll learn. I’ll be second. After all, shame has long been an effective means of deterring bad behavior. I live with and take care of my elderly mother. If she were to get swindled by any scam, SHE would be the first in line. She would shame herself. She’s not afraid to admit when she makes a mistake. It’s unfortunate that so many people today have such fragile egos and low self-esteem. Self-criticism and admitting that they did something dumb would crush them. Poor babies always need to be told that nothing is ever their fault. I know you live with your elderly mom. Anyone who reads your posts would know that. I’m not talking about her feeling shame. I’m talking about you shaming her. It’s about me shaming her after you. There’s a massive difference between you and me shaming her and her feeling ashamed for her inability to find the swindler. Go ahead and shame everyone you think made a stupid mistake. See where that gets you. See where that gets that person. One of your interests listed is “getting slim”. Next time you eat a jelly doughnut let’s get everyone on here to shame you and make you feel like shit for cheating on your quest to get slim. That wouldn’t solely be a matter of your low self-esteem. It’d also be a matter of people being assholes trying to shame you with the idea that “shame is an effective means of deterring bad behavior.”
  2. It's always public urination someone is charged with. You're telling me no one has ever been charged with public defecation? I just don't buy it lol. that's San Francisco. Nothing says “I want the system to change” like shitting on a sidewalk.

  4. “Dead” - possibly. Arrested, maced, and/or baton to the ribs & legs - absolutely

  7. Agreed. It’s tough to come up with two decent-good albums, a so-so/bleh one, and a pretty shite one across ten bands. :P
  8. Earl doesn’t even like The Beatles despite having seen Ringo in concert seventeen times and Paul nine times. I recommend you go back and change your vote to the real fifth Beatle - that Scooby Doo Quality Street Quality Control Expert option! :hail:   Done! Now you are up to two votes! :ebert:  Nice! I’m beating Pete Best! George Martin better watch his back! :blaze:

  10. Animals is the best album in the poll. Floyd takes it based on that alone.
  11. Who most earned the title “5th Member of the Fantastic Four”? Alicia Masters? Frankie Raye Nova? Inhuman Crystal? She-Hulk? HERBIE? Franklin Richards? Probably Alicia or She-Hulk, I think Frankie Raye Nova is the best though. Yeah. She-Hulk for the answer, Frankie Raye for the most interesting of the bunch. Other possibilities could be the Black Panther and the Silver Surfer. That’s true. But if i listed them then I’d have to list Namor too. And on and on.

  14. Holy shit! That’s an elementary school child’s worth!!
  15. Why on earth would you even want the option of going to the theater right now? I've gone a few times. Hardly anyone there. My bro saw the new Wonder Woman movie and went to one of those massive theaters. He said there was hardly anyone there too, about 30-40 people with a good 20-30 foot distance from the nearest moviegoer. Thinking about that and the fact that I work at a high school five days a week and commute by train (with 1 foot or less social distance while commuting)...hmm yeah...what can one do? Quit? Last December I conducted about a hundred plus 1-to-1 speaking tests in which the students were maybe 3 feet (if that) in front of me. We wore masks but sheesh, obviously this crap is risky. Anyhoo...
  16. Why on earth would you even want the option of going to the theater right now? Gal Gadot wearing little blue underwear with stars on them ((I haven't seen the movie btw))
  17. Who would you say are the three best representations of stoner rock? Not asking if they’re your favorite in the genre but rather which 3 artists exemplify it best? I'll start at the beginning here. I found out about Monster Magnet in the early '90's from a magazine article. Seemed like something I would like since I was deep into grunge and Sabbath at the time. The album SuperJudge was pretty good, if a bit pinched sounding. Kinda MC5 or Sir Lord Baltimore-ish. Spine Of God was a direct hit. A critic rated it as "you could get a contact high from just listening to this album..." sounds about right. Then came Dopes to Infinity. Very recommended. Pretty cohesive as an album. While no longer a purely stoner rock band, they still make good albums. This from a band leader who apparently ended his drug use around the time he got serious about his band. Kyuss... these guys I first heard in a record shop I often patronized. I forgot about what I came in for and asked the guy at the counter what he was playing. Kyuss Sky Valley. Wow, Ok I want a copy. Awesome long extended jams. Distortion. Just great stuff to listen to while driving my '76 Chrysler at night. Or just listen to. They soon morphed into Queens Of The Stone Age and tidied up their jamminess bit by bit and found other areas of musical exploration. I just am a fan of Josh Homme's writing style and he picks interesting people to collaborate with. I'm going to skip to something more recent here with All Them Witches. Here's where I've been lately. Lots of bluesy jams and great vibe. Lightning At The Door is currently my fave. Music like this fits a certain headspace for me. Kinda calming, actually. Despite the unfortunate genre title, none of these bands I listed are sloppy lackadaisical players. They know what they're doing. So much cool stuff. Atomic Bitchwax. Novadriver. Fu Manchu (vocals not so much.) Orange Goblin. There is some variation in this genre which I will address concerning Treeduck's post. A lot of good info there :hail:
  18. Aqualung is listed. I even mentioned it in an earlier post. Beast of a year! My favorite albums from 3 of my top 10 bands: Aqualung, Who’s Next, LZ4. Hunky Dory and L.A. Woman are great ones too from Bowie and The Doors!

  20. Who would you say are the three best representations of stoner rock? Not asking if they’re your favorite in the genre but rather which 3 artists exemplify it best? I didn't include Stoner Rock because it's basically Master of Reality-era Sabbath worship. To me that's not a real genre/ And that’s another question - What does it have to do to be a “real” genre?

  22. me too. back in the day when there were actually record stores, I would get strange looks and comments when bringing a diverse pile of CDs to the counter. That’s because many record store staff were elitists who thought they were pillars of music knowledge.
