  1. Heard of his passing yesterday. May he rest in peace. He is on so many Muddy albums that I cherish dearly. Plus, his own Take Me Back is one of the great blues albums.
  2. Do I? Elucidate please. I'm Irish, and I deplore what has become of our saint's day. Paddy/Patty sickens me, these are abhorrent terms to some of us over here. Call it Xmas all you like.
  3. No shit Sherlock, it's a dreadful bastardisation of my patron saint's name.
  4. It's St. Patrick's Day, don't know what the f**k St. Patty is. Anyway, back on topic. These groups are my favourites: Planxty The Bothy Band The Gloaming De Danann Sweeney's Men Altan
  5. *original post deleted due to punctuation pedantry*
  6. More of a religious holiday? In addition to the drinking bit, of course. St. Paddy! It is still a religious holiday, most Catholics will go to Mass this Friday, with shamrock(denoting the Father, Son & Holy Spirit) on their lapels, then they'll go to the nearest parade. Some(a minority) will go on a bender, and if you're a tourist, you'll get sucked in too. But, St. Patrick's Day is a very important day for the Irish diaspora, who are in every corner of the globe. It gives them a day where they can get together and celebrate being Irish, and talk of home and family.
  7. You're obviously the idiot. True Irishmen celebrate the whole goddamn week!!! No. We don't.
  8. RRRRROGGGGER TAYLOOOOORRRRR! That ridiculously handsome sexpot.
  9. "WHAT kind of a man desecrates a defenseless textbook?? You are destroying your life with that...that...that garbage!! All right, Mister Sister, I want you to tell me- no, better yet, stand up, and tell the class...WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO WITH YOUR LIFE??" The best post EVER. Man, I f***in love that video.
  10. Both. Hinds County, Mississippi gave us Charley Patton, which kicked off the whole palaver. Fast forward through 40 years of the most amazing blues music & potent rock n roll and the UK sends the Brit blues band to the US. Talk about cross-pollination.
  11. I loved Yes' Magnification & the Symphonic tour. Opeth's Live Concert At The Albert Hall is fantastic, as is Deep Purple's Concerto For Group & Orchestra. Opeth copied DP's album cover as a tribute. Procol Harum's Live In Concert With The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra also works well. Some of Emerson Lake & Palmer In Concert & Works Live has an orchestra performing.
  12. Ah, the old "DilDo Rush Suck" thread! Good times! *opens beer with forehead*
  13. Just popping in to say "sweet suffering Jesus". Sweet suffering Jesus. I agree with Far Cry and The Garden. I like those two songs but I do think they're overappreciated Of all of Segue's madder than Mad Jack McMad of Madtown list, those 2 are probably the 2 I play the most. The Garden gives me goosebumps every listen. Still. It haunts me.
  14. Just popping in to say "sweet suffering Jesus". Sweet suffering Jesus.
  15. That was a great set...their 25th Anniversary set they did in London last year was just as amazing considering Gateways Through Bereavement was played for the first time in 20 years. From what I know though, it wasn't filmed but maybe was recorded on audio like the bonus live CD off of the recently released 10th anniversary reissue of The Great Cold Distance. 4 disc, 2 cd and 2 dvds! Dvd 1 is the gig and 2 is a doc!
  16. Fanboying it like a good 'un over Katatonia. Last Fair Day Gone night, now that's how you put together a live album.
  17. I don't think they are all that really...but I like how FM have so many eras you can have ten fans in one room and have almost none in agreement as to what is the best work! Not ignored by Macheads, for sure.
  18. My regular post-Green pre-Lyndsey Fleetwood Mac listenfest. Those albums are amazing. Ridiculously ignored.
  19. *coughs* Visitors was 81.... *coughs* Haha! I meant Voulez Vous Both works of staggering genius. Seriously? Coz there aren't many ABBA fans here... 100% serious. We fought the good fight in the Abba thread, IIRC. First album I bought with my own (pocket) money was The Visitors.
  20. Damn, 154, I love that angular and pretentious disc. And you forgot Fear of Music. . Dammit! I did. FOM is perfect.
