  1. As an aside : If you look at the Klingons in the first episode of Discovery, you see new designs. You also see TMP, JJVerse and TNG ridges.
  2. They are working on their own schedule now. They got the record done, then took a bunch of time off to do whatever. Released Firepower when they decided they were ready to tour.
  3. So...don't buy stuff. OK Steve, no problem. ;)
  4. %20https%3A//media0.giphy.com/media/2WeA9OxJOsrUA/source.gif Oh, and No Time To Die has been pushed to November by virus.corona virus. This news leaves me shaken not stirred. Always seemed odd it was going to be in April. Every Bond since Goldeneye has been released in November or December. I guess the Time To Die Is Now! lol I understand people like my parents who are 80 plus should not be going out to big events. I was very bummed that my dad decided not to go to KISS and David Lee Roth. But that's life! I thought humanity was a lot smarter. lol First off all hand sanitizers only kill bacteria. This is a VIRUS!!!! Hand sanitizer is useless. As for the masks? Masks only work when they are worn by the infected human!!! Wearing a mask to protect yourself from the Coronavirus is USELESS!! Ummm, you better wear an entire face mask then. The Virus can float into your eyes!!!! I see the stock market crashed today. Glad I kept my house and gave my ex wife my 700 shares of Apple stock. She just lost 30 grand today. 60% - 70% alcohol based sanitizers should be able to kill a virus.
  5. What was the first 45 rpm you bought? Why Can't This be Love - Van Halen What was the first LP you bought? AC/DC - Back In Black. First pressing - still have it. What was the first 8-track? Never owned one. What was the first cassette? ESL First CD? White Lion - Pride. When it was new. First song/album you downloaded? Rik Emmett had some stuff available on his website in the late 90's. I think. I'm pretty sure the song was something of his... like a different version of Hold On, or something. Album: 2005 or so, I guess. Porcupine Tree from their label's website. Might have been the XMII live album. I didn't really start downloading stuff until 2005 or so when iTunes started ramping up. I was still buying CD's regularly until 2008-ish when Amazon then started selling mp3's.
  6. Dreamline Bravado (live, with the extended jam) Stick It Out Driven Animate Cold Fire Earthshine Secret Touch (live, with the extended jam) Far Cry Working Them Angels Malnar Caravan Anarchist 7 Cities of Gold Headlong Flight (live with the drum solo)
  7. Yeah - I was watching one of the shows on YouTube and I was thinking "is he really gone? how can he be?". It still seems so unreal.
  8. I think a lot of us have shows that we wanted to go to, and couldn't. In my case, I wanted to go to LA on R40, could have gone, and just didn't. I also could have gone out to Red Rocks on tours past to see the boys. Didn't do that either. It happens. Don't sweat over it. IMO, be thankful for what you did get to do. ;)
  9. I think it was Ian Hill who said that KK couldn't hold his own on stage anymore. Couldn't play his own parts anymore, much less Glenn's. bla bla bla. I think KK's Priest is the response to those insulting statements. KK looks and sounds fantastic. Top form.
  10. Earl, we're family, right ?? .. We don't always have to agree, eh ?? Marillion opened for Rush at Radio City Music Hall Sept 1983, and I have never heard a band so unmercifully booed - to the point where couldn't hear the band play ... Rush still had a lot of metalheads as fans, and it was very ugly .. I almost felt sorry for Marillion, but I hated them ( lol sorry ) ... Looking back, they didn't have a fighting chance and opening for Rush in those days was a tough gig - they were treated unfair, but Fish didn't do anything to endear himself from what I remember ... Three years earlier, Saxon did quite well in the opening slot, but everyone hated Fish, myself included .. In retrospect, I think a lot of Rush fans at the time were a bit disillusioned with the direction of Rush, and Marillion got the full brunt of it .. They might have gone over better later in the 80s, but in '83, it was a bad combo . Fast forward to Madison Square Garden in 1984 on the P/G tour. Fastway opened. Fast Eddie Clarke, right? Ex-motorhead. Mercilessly booed. FASTWAY SUCKS, WE WANT RUSH. For like the entire set. Finally Eddie said "We're going to play one more song then get off". Or something like that. Undeserved for both Marillion and Fastway, IMO. BTW - I found this old thread only because I'm listening to Marillion today.
  11. Peggy Lipton was my first crush as a kid. Mod Squad FTW!
  12. Looking forward to this. One can never have too many Deep Purple albums.
  13. Gotta give cred to Phish for their light shows. I think they rival or even exceed what Howard used to do for Rush. Still pissed that there was no Neil tribute in Mexico though. They could have easily pulled off CTTH or Limelight.
  14. grep

    Rush and Rockline?

2/6/89. I think that's the one where Lerxst said that he used to see Rutsey at the gym. Lexst also said something along the lines of 'the band is closer to the end than the beginning'. I remember lying there in bed listening to that.
  15. Would be nice if RTB and HYF were reworked somehow, to include some bottom end. Presto too.
  16. It should be just those two with no support. Give both bands an hour and 45 minutes or so and that's it. There's no reason for another band to be on it anyways. No one will remember who the support was after seeing Priest and Maiden on the same night. I'd like to see equal time sets, I just assumed priest would get less since they're not as big a draw Yeah, if it comes down to an executive decision, Maiden will certainly get more time. But if Maiden has any say, I'm sure they would want to give Priest the same amount of time. That's fine. Then each band gets a 90 minute set. No opener. 90 minutes is too short for Maiden. They do have some longer songs. Priest could probably fit more in that timeframe than Maiden could though. Yeah, at this point a 90 min Maiden show would feel like a 90 min Rush show would have. Too short.
  17. Asia, Asia, Asia - can't get enough of that band. They have a permanent place in my playlists. Heavy rotation. Ride Easy. Heat of the Moment. Wildest Dreams. Go. Too Late. Daylight. Lying To Yourself. Voice of America. Midnight Sun. The Heat Goes On. I Will Be There For You.
  18. I look at Foreigner, a band I used to love. They are a novelty act now. As good as that live show is, it's a greatest hits set. There's nothing new. Journey is almost the same. Have a lot of respect for bands like Priest, Maiden, Metallica, Chicago, even The Who (again) - new material, at least trying to stay relevant. I think at this point, the only 'novelty' act I'd want to see would be Zeppelin. Because....Zeppelin. Which is wishful thinking anyway. It's never going to happen. Edits for clarity and spelling.
  19. I just got a new job. The onboarding papers included a questionnaire about whether I've been to China or knowingly in contact with someone infected with Covid-19. People are starting to take this threat seriously, and rightly so. This isn't a virus to be trifled with. Long incubation period, can be spread before symptoms show up, and it's known to attack both upper and lower respiratory system - and cause other organ damage. Even in young, fit people. What's promising is that the 'spike protein' on the virus is supposedly similar to that of SARS1. So existing drugs 'might' work to disrupt it. But we won't know that for a while. In the meantime, take this one seriously. If it breaks containment, (and it may have already, we'll know in a month), many people may die.
  20. Adding Neil's playing to the first album? That would have been a shitty, Sharon Osborne kind of thing to do. Which is exactly what she did with the first 2 Ozzy albums at one point. Total douche move.
