  1. "Have the two of you guys ever actually listened to our fans?? You, you think they love us cuz they flail their arms in the air at the speed of light trying to emulate you. And you, eschewing the grooving thundering thunder for what? What? Do do do, do do do. Da da da, da da da? Seriously the two of you. They love us cuz of Me. I make them rock. I shake the effing arenas to the effing core. I light up their passion with MY SOLOS! So now the two of you make me sit in the corner with the core of our livelihoods in my lap? The sound that made us us? Seriously Pratt, if you say one more time that numnet warrior mean mean doofes is what defines us, I am gonna..... Why do I need to find a new space?" I did read somewhere that Lifeson can get a little emotional . . . Yes, I was emulating Alex' La Villa emotional rant, with a little bit of the BTLS "no keyboard" scenes: Alex: Its time we call a meeting, everyone in the conference room I have a concept, how about no keyboards! Geddy: Does a mocking fist slam on the table.
  2. Nah, I really like lookin over everyone's list.set 2 has something unique in it, but that's where there was too much early stuff, if there is such a thing!
  3. Cant wait! I am with you on AFTK and Hemis- I think we agree on those two! You do have alot of great 70s tunes towards the end, it seems that they have played all of those since R30/VT tours. If this is their last big tour, its one last chance to play "that" tune thats been left off so many times. I give Rush credit, they do seem to pull a couple of rabbits out, even when they have a new album to promote! I recall hearing both Xanadu (which we agree on) and Nat Sci (love it- but left off since its been done multiple tours recently). Maybe not the full version, but they have been played. I will stick to my first set for now, I think it is fair- not too much from the first three albums and addresses the "popularity" concern. Anthem is the first stretch here. Hasnt been played in eons (except for the R30 medly), and if Ged modifies the vocals, that would be great to hear (lets face it, he'll have to modify alot at this stage). Anthem is a huge rocker, even for casual fans not familiar, that place would be jumping! May a need to replace a song in the first set with an instrumental, to give Geds voice a rest, I would chose Leave that Thing Alone (from your list). 2 more stretches - Different Strings and Cut (both never been played). And judging by TRF- seems there is a large demand for both of these. Strings would be a great 'rest' tune and easy on the voice. Nice mood shift deep cut from a very popular album. Another stretch is Red Tide, I have always liked this one, and its on the 'Never Played List' on the PoW web site. To repeat a HYF or PoW tune, I dont see any advantage with the 'casual' fans there. I think they should be reaching for a few never been played tunes. I'm closing out set one with two mega Rush popular tunes, Xanadu and Tom Sawyer. That would demolish the house! Also Red Barchetta and Limelight in Set 1- thats 4 out of 10 hugely popular Rush tunes in set one- a far cry above the CA tour set 1!
  4. Agreed. Perfectly said. The be all and end all. ;-)
  5. I like it cuz its a Rush setlist and tries to pull from all eras... But I think the band said they are looking to play older stuff that's been on the shelf for awhile. I hope! The first set opens heavy with post 1991, and then closes with the less popular 80s albums. Love Enemy Within but has very similar feel as CA tour. Subdivisions overplayed but fun. Still great Rush! fans from the last tour that had to sit around for three hours until they stopped ignoring their entire 1970s era might not like being ignored again... Then set 2 goes oldies, but to the songs they've played a million times. I tried a mix of old/popular/not played much on mine above. But hey, if they play yours, I'm still rockin with ya there!
  6. Lockes "secret" is not open...but it is a huge one. it just takes 211.2 episodes to get to it. The mystic rhythms of the show become more unique as time stands still.
  7. Bastille Day or Anthem. If not them, then Chain Lightning.
  8. Neil rolling along vs Ginger in round 2. Round 3 a tough one, as Moon is in the bracket. Shows the power of Tuco, who gave Neil all he could handle. Almost gave Neil some bad medicine. http://ultimateclassicrock.com/ginger-baker-neil-peart-march-drum-madness/
  9. Yeah, it does move slowly. That's what made watching it on Netflix fun. I recall watching an episode and waiting for the 'big story' to move and nothing happens til the last minutes of the episode. I don't know how the 17 million fans dealt with that pace on the original ABC run. Had to enjoy the drama of the week I guess. Locke's motivations are unique and it appears he is acting irrationally, but he is acting on his plan. His story takes long to unfold. What is developing early in season 3 with Desmond is a great arc and gets very interesting as the series ages...
  10. Set 1 ---- Anthem Limelight Red Barchetta Different Strings Cut to the Chase ---- Driven Between the Wheels Red Tide Xanadu Tom Sawyer ----- Set 2 ----- In the Mood Fly by Night Bastille Day Something for Nothing Cinderella Man ---- Prelude Jacobs Ladder YYZ Drum Solo Digital Man ---- Headlong Flight Spirit of Radio ---- Encore- Overture/Temples La Villa In the End
  11. The near baritone of the early 90s was so cool. Never understood why he went up a pitch after that?
  12. Please forgive my attempt to gain clarity here. Are we saying (and others liking it said?) is Rush "over" The bands listed above...need to tour together, have buy two get one free deals, cut prices to fill up the arenas. Except for VH, that needed to resurrect the singer they hated for 20 years to be relevant on tour. And we are comparing all of these favorably to Rush?? That hits the road on their own. No gimmicks. No lineup change. No long breaks, outside of the tragic events 17 years ago. No touring with Kansas or Toto to drum up sales. They are the most expensive ticket right now cuz they said hey, we possibly might be doing a few less shows when we hit the road next time. They are over and its liked. I must be missing something. It must be about vh? But way above vh was over and immed above they are flooring it. And a couple comments above its intense about LL Cool Geds voice? thank you!
  13. Thinking about when the snow will melt in Scandinavia.
  14. Go listen to Second Nature for the lyrics and try to take something from it. Everyone should! Okay, yeah yeah, lyrics and all that . . . but where the hell is Lifeson on this song? Oh there he is . . . oh, he's gone again. He's back for like 14 seconds! Geez. He could have stayed home that day. Is this possibly the Rush song that has the least guitar in it?? That's actually a good description of Alex's role in the band during that time.."ok guys, where do you want me..??" "Have the two of you guys ever actually listened to our fans?? You, you think they love us cuz they flail their arms in the air at the speed of light trying to emulate you. And you, eschewing the grooving thundering thunder for what? What? Do do do, do do do. 15. So they can work their way backward more or less, ending with all classic stuff. Also, if the 2 drum kit rumor is true, they will likely get the newer stuff out of the way early. Has nothing to do with that....The Glorified Gilmour Solo Band started with either Echoes or Shine On during their 1987-88 tour...then went RIGHT to the new stuff, and ended with the old stuff in the second set. Sorry for the edit, but The Floyd ended in 1983, as great as Gilmour is...Rush fans would never appreciate the band continuing without Neil.
  16. Seriously...you have heard Roll the Bones? That cat can groooove. ;-) The song you mean? It's not bad, I can see he's trying to go for a more funk rock approach. But there are other drummers who do that kind of thing way better such as Chad Smith and Will Calhoun. I'm not saying for a minute I think Neil's a bad drummer - he's anything but that! It's just that kind of straight ahead grooving isn't really his thing, although I do think he is a lot better at it now than he used to be. ,-) I was trying to keep it light. Yes, it really isn't his thing. I like RTB song, and it gets A LOT of heat on TRF. Was expecting some feedback on that. I'm with you on Chad Smith, my understanding he's a big Rush fan and in a great band!
  17. But the beginning of SFN is pure golden voiced singing. 70s easily best LL Cool Ged singing, early 90s singing even beats 80s, as I cringe when hearing about that warrior getting hiiiiigh on you.
  18. Seriously...you have heard Roll the Bones? That cat can groooove. ;-)
  19. Congrats Mr LABT on 50k. Also a member of a Counterparts club, must be awesome!
  20. Although I have commented way too often on various threads here about how pricing and demand are extremely manipulated in concert biz...the 'demand' to sit close to Rush is way far beyond the demand to sit close to Bruce. I live not far from NJ and Bruce's vast loyal fanbase is mostly happy to go the the show and rock. Rush fans seem to want to be closer to those three amazing musicians than other famous acts. The premium seat pricing for Rush has always been among the most expensive in rock, and R41 has been through the roof.
  21. Homicide/the Wire Person of Interest- from the ashes of 9/11, a man creates a god....to protect us.
  22. Tuco got close, but didn't beat Peart. At 48%, he beat Mondale by a landslide. Round 2 voting open.
  23. Passage and SFN are essential A list Rush songs. Side 1 we all agree on.
