Gas is by the liter...so if you rent a car, and see $1.22...thats per liter...not gallons. Loonie = $1 coin/ Toonie = $2 coin....., No 1 or 2 dollar bill Tim Hortons is Donuts and coffee..they are everywhere I have heard people from the US will just use credit cards up there to pay for everything so they don't get screwed on exchange rates...but with cell phones, what happens? You get hit with international roaming charges or something like that? That kind of sucks.

I reserved my room but haven't bought the plane ticket yet because I am on the fence. I would like to go but feel weird because this being my first time out of the States, I am hesitant to go by myself. There are currency issues to consider and I am sure other things that might be helpful to have someone with me who already knows the ropes, so to speak....we'll see though....

I grew up liking Duran Duran a lot, along with hard rock and metal. There was just something about their music that appealed to my ears. I guess I found their musical arrangements really cool in so many songs and I found the melodies to be catchy. For many of us, music doesn't have to rock hard 100% of the time to be good.

Damn....I have seen some really hot pics of Neil but Alex has always been my personal #1.

No way will this year's be the last. I'd bet money on it. They don't say on the Rushcon site that it will be the last one. They said it will be the last one "for a while".

Congrats on your new job! If a person is going to have to miss Rushcon then I say that's at least a positive reason for doing so. :)

No, however there IS supposed to be a big surprise this year, so.... ;) I know, I was thinking the same thing. :) Isn't there a "big surprise" every year? Having said that, if Geddy and/or Alex were to come, this would be the likeliest of all years so far. It wouldn't surprise me if Lifeson showed up as he always struck me as the most approachable of the 3. I don't believe you will get too many arguments there.

Kid Gloves This is a pleasant surprise for me, as I had been skipping that song (and several other Rush songs) for a while because something about it didn't grab me for some reason. Now I can't stop listening to it. Hopefully those several others eventually come around too. :)

I can only handle violin in small doses generally. Maybe that's why I didn't go apeshit over the Clockwork Angels string ensemble.

I went once and it was mostly enjoyable. There are some folks who go every year and they hang out together doing things others aren't aware of/invited to, sort of cliquish, but there are also people who go once or maybe just a couple of times and seem to enjoy it. But yes, there is also a lot of the fawning type behavior that get's old. It's funny the way you describe it because this is exactly how I picture it.

If it's not, whoever did that song kicked ass. I had it cranking so loud in my car last night the people next to me at the red lights were looking over (most in total approval). :D

Ha, you know that I have been saying this since R40 ended. "Coming to a small, intimate club near you...." :)

Haven't gone yet but sounds like it could be worthwhile. However, I have to get to see some important places to the band (like Pancer's Deli, Fisherville Jr High, Lakeside Park, etc :)) to really feel good about making the trip.

I am thinking about it too, although I am out of work right now. Time off isn't the problem but money is.

I missed out on a particular job last year because I applied too late (it had just been filled) but I was told by the hiring manager that there would be more hiring for this role, so I was excited and kept in contact with her, touching base from time to time. Fast forward to this month, the job is available again and I go through the interview process. I just got my rejection e-mail. Nothing like thinking you have the inside track to a job, only to find that you were just another asshole candidate despite all the time and effort you invested in it. I can't believe how shitty the hiring world is.
