  1. Bland 80s power ballad AOR....like Bon Jovi with a better guitar player. "chick rock"
  2. I could see Geddy getting together with an 'all-star' group. Maybe putting together an album and touring. Playing some Fav Headache tunes along with tunes from other players. Maybe something like a more proggy Chickenfoot. Even at his older age, I would think playing a little out of your comfort zone might be a reinvigerating change for him. As for Al, I could see him being a homebody. Maybe producing or contributing as guest artist for various bands...but home by 6pm for dinner. As for Neil...who knows.
  3. Ditto...i'm 6 days older than flea :)
  4. Wow what a disappointing thread. Here's some old concert footage to cheer everyone up.
  5. I use the same Fender Deluxe 85 solid state dual channel amp that I bought in the late 80s(?). I know the 'serious' players in this thread will scoff at it, but I only play 2/3 times a month just to make sure the fingers still work. It's the 'red dial' version of the model, which I think may mean something to some people. I think I read that Radiohead used this amp in the studio. I replaced the speaker a couple of years ago with a Patriot Texas Heat after the original starting sounding roached. Pretty much the same tone even after the speaker change. It tends to have more top end which is what I prefer since I play at low volume. But it still has enough balls even with only the gain set at 8. I just like to plug and play and it's great for that. The only effect I use is a late 80s dod stereo chorus with my 81 Ibanez Artist as my main ax. 80s gear is starting to get known as 'vintage'. I just thought it was old guitar crap. :P
  6. oh I don't know about that. I remember mowing the lawn and buying an album with the same money. Let's blame that damn Columbia Music Club.
  7. ok, serious answer....lots of recessions in the 70s.
  8. Hey now Lucas and I were plotting to start a Bay City Rollers tribute band.
  9. Procrastination....putting off shit leads to constipation. #deepthoughts
  10. I don't think that's necessarily true. Those are traits common to all ages.
  11. I'll get back to you later on this.
  12. It's two male monkeys with boobies, each holding one kidney while their other kidney dangles nearby, with a bowtie between them. I totally see that. Does that mean I need therapy now?
  13. AC/DC created a sound and have done what they want, despite the critics, for over 40 years. Remind you of another band?? I used to detest AC/DC. And I used to dislike Rush. But many years ago I had a revelation/epithany and discovered that both bands (as different as they are) had created phenomenal timeless songs. No, no it doesn't sound familiar. AC/DC has always produced easy to listen to marketable commercial cliche' trash. Rush has explored multiple musical styles and constantly explores and changed their sound. AC/DC stays in their shallow comfort zone, never daring to venture anywhere, whereas Rush ventures plenty despite critics. They recognize that some directions they have taken are more successful than others but the fact remains that they tried new things. They are true musical artists. AC/DC has no right to be compared with real musical creativity. Any AC/DC song is one reasonably competent guitar solo away from being Nickleback.
  14. Instead of flying around and beating the crap out the drums he has to 'feeeeel' the drums....like caressing a puppy right? Yeah sure...drummer with soul....stupid ass post by non musicians. :eyeroll: Instead of flying around and beating the crap out the drums he has to 'feeeeel' the drums....like caressing a puppy right? Yeah sure...drummer with soul....stupid ass post by non musicians. :eyeroll: Ain't you a bag of sunshine Somebody crapped in the cornflakes? But it's true. How do you tell if there's 'soul' in drumming? To me it sounds ridiculous. It's like when people tell me AC/DC has soul. I want to smack those people. why? it's unequivocally present on every Bon Scott album, and even a few after that feel the space between the notes, how they arrive, linger and give way to the next note ^ this is the easiest way I've found to codify 'soul' in terms of language - it really is beyond words to describe Pretentious cr*p that sounds like it's coming from a rolling stone writer. 'feeeeel the puppy....carrrrrress the puppy'. This is rock...plug it in and wail. Amazing that all these opinions come from people that a) don't play instruments or b) will never get close to Neil's level of talent.

  16. I'm sure all this drama, real and imagined, over the drum solo will really motivate him to continue touring.
  17. Is there an option for 'who cares?'. That's my vote.
  18. I apologize for making posts that were too complicated for dense people to comprehend.
  19. This just in.. top rock drummer relearns his instrument in order to "go through the motions" :D No I kinda get what your saying f/street, I mean it ain't exactly hemispheres.. couldn't resist though lol I still say it's a great album. Maybe average for Rush but a great album! Neil's drumming was strong, but his lyrics were abysmal on some songs. By going through the motions I meant that as a whole...there was nothing really 'new' or all that interesting on this album. Sort of a creative rut of an album.
  20. Awesome. I have never heard this before. The one, two, three, fooooooooooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrr is incredible. Gave me chills to be honest... :codger: If I remember correctly , I think EagleMoon mentioned this one once. holy fret buzz geddy yeesh! I think he must have just picked up the new Ric and hadn't set it up yet. He must have figured it out because on ATWAS it sounds majestic. It does to my untrained ear anyway. Clear and powerful... :) Well sure, that was recorded a couple of years later. It only takes about an hour to set up a bass. :) Thanks Miss Eagle. I learn something every day... :) Geddy should have fired his bass tech! Oh wait Geddy was the bass tech. Obviously back then all bands were pretty much show up, plug in, and play without the elaborate preparations. Here's old Hendrix concert footage and it's laughable how low key they start the concert, especially compared to today. It's like they showed up 5 minutes before they went on and just grabbed their axes and went on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqTVovlhy1s

  22. I'm channeling the honey badger's opinion for this thread. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0wi7Ugct1w
  23. T4E is an 'ok' album...but it just screams 'going through the motions'.
  24. I don't dislike it but it aint no HYF that's a proper Rush Album A. People should know that I detest HYF (how many posts have I called it 'hold your nose'?) B. I tend to occasionally post things to yank people's chains. CA rocks.
  25. That dude is amazing! :D I'm sure the guys playing front of him are going 'oh god, the drummer's going full retard again.'
