  1. I plan on bringing my air triangle to rock out at the show. I've nailed the beginning of YYZ.
  2. feedback. yeah i'm the one in every crowd. :P
  3. don't like ged sampling? hire a keyboard player. hire a keyboard player? increase ticket prices to pay for said keyboard player. vicious cycle.
  4. la villa, yyz... and everything else
  5. But you know what? All of the comments he's made in the last couple of years have come true. People just chose to be skeptical. he's been quite off the mark when talking about set lists pre-tour, so I take what Al says with a grain of salt. Of all the 3, he tends to be the 'loose cannon'. Just talked to Alex and for those skeptics he told me, 'Blah, Blah....Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah...Blah, Blah...Blah Blah'. the rrhof speech is the purest definition of loose cannon. ;)

  7. From what was revealed on previous tours, the rehearsal process is the weeding out of songs that aren't working or aren't lighting their fire. they probably go into it with 4 or 5 hours worth of possible material and weed it out from there. I think Jacob's Ladder was cut during the rehearsals on a previous tour because it wasn't working. As complicated as some of their material is, going back to something you haven't played in years can a challenge to get tight. Outside of the set list process, the rest of the process really doesn't interest me. They hire professionals and it justs get done, probably without much drama.
  8. my least favorite is topics that ask about least favorites. that being said, hold your nose is hideous boring mall music.
  9. Al tends to exaggerate sometimes, so I wouldn't read too much into his quotes.
  10. it's been said but I'll say it in a different way...rush fans and rush themselves realized it was BS to try to be in the 'cool kids' club a long time ago.
  11. Answer: you keep on rockin! (See picture for evidence!) http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/12/05/article-0-1876541F00000578-464_638x427.jpg the taxidermist did an excellent job
  12. so does my old dodge caravan count as a fan picture?....the caravan thunders onward!....
  13. if you find yourself buying the ray danniels bobblehead, I'm afraid you'll need an intervention.
  14. maybe someday i'll listen to the whole song. until now, it only took about 30 seconds before i hit the skip button. NEXT!
  15. It's probably that goosy sound at 3:20 that makes your wings flutter. I admit back in the day I liked MR. The video was kind of trippy and cool (at that time). But after listening to it recently, it sounded just like Miami Vice soundtrack filler to me. On top of the overindulgence of synths, this song really puts Al in the background...hey Al just add some twinky sounding arpeggios and Ged will take care of the rest. Unless your Keith Emerson or Rick Wakeman, no one goes to rock concerts to see the keyboard player. The question was asked and I answered it.
  16. How about Kansas as opening act. They just did a documentary on their 40th anniversery so there's something they have in common. I saw them at the local Casino a couple of years ago and they're still solid. No reason they couldn't do 40 minutes and Rush 2:30-3 hours. Better bargain for the ticket prices. Here's some old school prog jam to start your day:
  17. mystic rythyms...so dated....sounds like miami vice. now where did I put that double breasted white sportcoat and pink tshirt?
  18. absolutely detest HYF. boring mall music.
  19. Every time I see one of these things where people are wanting to give something away and then ask for a letter or story or whatever I think that's a possibility. How would you know that someone wasn't just making something up so they could go? It may have nothing to do with "need" but everything to do with how good of a story teller they are. yeah i agree. ticket prices are high, but most people can scrape together enough for cheap seats. Especially since the shows are 3-4 months away. it's not like they have to come up with $100 next week. Hell that's enough time to get money from plasma donations like i did in college. But it's going to be really uncomfortable judging how needy people are for these shows. I'm especially hyper-sensitive to moochers and whiners because my ex is one and i see how the game is played. you'll have people (like my ex) coming out of nowhere knowing there's some free to be had. maybe give them a test to see how much of a 'fan' they really are.
  20. i'd go for this..a chance to play different strings as part of the set. come on guys...it's a quicky and easy one...you can fit it in.
  21. She has a lot of support. So just say that in the comment when you donate. I am keeping track. Has anybody donated yet? Generally this board does not allow any sort of crowdfunding or public pleas for donations. The only reason this thread wasn't shut down immediately was because you've been a member here since 2010 and we wanted to see where this was going. I am of the opinion that good deeds such as sending a particular person to a show should be done in private. Like in a group PM amongst a number of people who all know each other, something like, "John2112's been a member of TRF for years and he's never seen Rush and he can't afford to go, so let's pool some money together and buy him a ticket. Who else can we bring in on this?" That sort of thing. I'm not sure how I feel about having people donate money then a decision is made on who gets a ticket. Also, please pardon me -- I am a born skeptic. Tex donated earlier according to the site. I'm going to when my Internet stops being shiternet. I can see your viewpoint here, though. But I think the overall goal of their GoFundMe is to be able to donate to everybody who has requested help, rather than just one person who got the most votes. I definitely understand where you're coming from, and agree, but I think given it might be the last tour and after reading up on their thing a bit, this is pretty genuine. FWIW when I saw this thread I immediately assumed scam as well. Obviously not in my jurisdiction here, but again, just throwing my opinion out there. yeah nice thought, but many times these things blow up and get ugly. but go for it if you think you can pull it off. I might (i emphasize 'might') have some extra chicago floor seats if things fall through. but they won't come cheap, so you may want to pursue cheaper seats to help more people. if things fall through i could let them go for cost or close to cost knowing they were going to 'true' fans.
  22. f encores. stupid and cliche'. just play, enjoy, and go home.
  23. sorry i can't listen to it anymore. i used the cd for skeet shooting. PULL! :bang bang:
