  1. sounds like sometihing they would seriously consider.no telling what songs they have hidden away in the vaults.love to see a box set of rare tracks sometime , Sorry to say but I'm pretty sure Neil holds that there are no hidden tracks in the vault; everything they wrote they used.
  2. Crystal Ball is a masterpiece. Few opening tracks have ever topped Put Me On.
  3. The other two singles are great. Radio Silence has the best kind of Man In The Wilderness vibes, and A Hundred Million Miles From Home is a couple of production points away from literally just being back in the mid seventies, like ELO meets the Eagles in the best way possible. I might just buy this.
  4. Music verus forum mates? Hmmm... I love having both of them! Why should I choose? :P
  5. You do understand why I did the Styx versus Stones poll, right? And for me, Styx wins again. I love Kansas, but they aren't as exciting to me as Styx, and they don't always connect with me on the prog stuff.
  6. Deyoung is more versatile and more powerful. Brad is amazing, but he's kinda a one-trick pony. i love both.
  7. and one would be wrong. :D Mick That sass. It's true. Seriously? You don't think an objective case can be made for the Rolling Stones being the greatest rock band? I do. And I'm a Beatles fanatic. no absolutly not. and i'm being just as serious as you are. Mick I get not liking the Rolling Stones or any band for that matter. Personally, I think the Stones became a parody of themselves after Exile on Main Street. Total cruise control. But from 1964 to 1972 they defined, along with several of their peers, what a rock and roll band was. The songs. The longevity. The innovation. The popularity. It still ripples through the music world to this day. good for them.......i'll send em a fruit basket color me still unimpressed. Mick Did Mick Jagger hurt your feelings or something? You are being a bit annoying...Rolling Stones have always been a love/hate band. Stop sounding surprised lol They are as easy to dislike or hate as our beloved Rush or U2. A bit annoying? Anyway, my "opinion" of the Stones drops after 1974 or so. A parody! :codger: Same here with me and U2 after Joshua Tree. I'm not against Rolling Stones but I've never been moved by the million songs that infiltrate UK media. They are big over here. None of their albums ibe heard thrilled me either. I'd accept Beatles, Who, even Floyd who I cannot stand but Stones for me are nothing special. And no I wouldn't call Styx one of the greats either! I think U2 and the Stones suffer from the same sense of self-importance via massive success and popularity. They stopped being bands that took chances. U2 hasn't taken a real chance in 17 years and it's infuriating, though No Line On The Horizon is almost a risk, and impressive at that. Sorry, just ranting my agreement here.
  8. I think the Stones probably have more great songs than Styx... but Styx probably have more albums that I like to listen to than the Stones... Also Styx are more fun and have Queen and prog influences that are candy to my ears, where the Stones' folkier stuff doesn't capture my enthusiasm. But the Stones are generally undeniable, the quality is just obvious. So when I vote for Styx, it's nothing against the Stones, I just enjoy Styx more.
  9. 2112 Cygnus X-1 Book I Xanadu and so many others
  10. Well, despite the likelihood that the Stones destroy Styx in this poll, I couldn't resist. Btw...I like Styx a lot better in general.
  11. Blackstar is well worth your time, as well as many of his other albums.
  12. Here's my ranking of all the Bowie albums I have heard: Ziggy ★ Station To Station Aladdin Sane Low Young Americans Diamond Dogs Hunky Dory Scary Monsters Heathen subject to change, these are all so hard to compare
  13. Here's your chance to rank Bowie's albums! You don't have to go through the whole discography, but rank whatever you can!
  14. David Bowie - Young Americans Emerson, Lake, and Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery Black Sabbath - Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath Genesis - Spot The Pigeon
  15. I enjoy punk. The energy is life-giving. I always loved the aesthetic of The Ramones.
  16. Queen Rush Muse Genesis David Bowie I feel a strong sense of Deja Vu in this thread.
  17. It'd be cool if Neil did a gig with a big thrash metal band.
  18. Slayer's newest album is terrible. These four in the poll beat it by miles. At least these bands put in an effort with their new material. Anthrax isn't in this because they're not popular enough for the OP to like. Fair enough, but you'd think if you're going to do a four v. four of the latest albums released by huge metal bands when the big four of thrash have all released an album within a couple years of each other, that the big four would be the ones to put in the poll, or if not just them, then them and the new Priest and Maiden...why don't we toss in the last Black Sabbath while we're at it, lol. I'm just being overcritical.
