  1. Every time Canada does something the US doesn't like... we threaten to deport the little shit and Canada straightens up real quick. There's no one I can think of that I would rather throw a punch at regardless of the consequences. I can almost guarantee if I ever had the chance, I would do it. I could start a kickstarter to cover my legal fees or any medical bills I might incur from any retaliation from his squad of bodyguards.
  2. I'm just going to pretend I never saw this...I just wonder if Canada has as much shame for releasing beeb as Americans have hatred for him.
  3. I think the biggest theory like that of my generation was the whole Tupac Shakur thing...about 2 or 3 years ago there was a video going around of what appeared to be Tupac hiding out in Sweden or something that really had me convinced...the age progression was right, the tattoos, the voice...I tried to find it recently and it's nowhere to be found.
  4. I want to say there have been books written about this. They usually run alongside stories people have claiming that they've seen Elvis still alive...(check out youtube and there's an interesting video of someone claiming that Elvis was an extra in the movie Home Alone)
  5. Yeah, they tend to "re-arrange" old material when they bring it out for a tour. I remember reading something from either Geddy or Alex talking about how they changed the arrangement of The Camera Eye for the Time Machine tour. I've noticed with Natural Science they repeat the first verse ("wheel within wheels...") instead of going straight into the next segment...My guess is its to cut down on time, but some songs could be trimmed and re arranged due to vocal/physical constraints.
  6. Tiger Man One Night Trying to get to you Guitar Man especially the 68 comeback special versions.
  7. Well its been a year or two since I've posted a pic...I've said before that I'm a rather elusive subject when it comes to photos. This is me and one of my best friends since high school. My city (Mobile, AL) has only recently been recognized as the true birthplace of Mardi Gras...It's true, so all of you who think NOLA is the home of Fat Tuesday, think again. So here in Mobile we take our carnival season very seriously. About 2-3 weeks of parades from different "mystic societies" as we call them...most of them ending with a formal Ball after the parade....honestly the attire is the only thing formal about it...Its basically our civic center arena (where Rush has played a couple of times with some killer setlists) with a couple thousand people all roaming around to the 20+ open bars with individual catering...Sounds pretty extravagant right? Well luckily I get free tickets since my mother was a Mardi Gras Queen back in the 80's. Anyways...I'm rambling now...Basically my friend and I have been going to the same ball for 3 years, ever since she was a Queen herself.
  8. Yeah, I'd have to say the MP tour would have been perfect for me had I been alive then...They stopped in my town 4/18/81 at the Mobile Municipal Auditorium...I'm currently attempting to convince the city council to not tear the arena down...too much musical history in there. 2112 (Overture/Temples) Freewill Limelight Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres Part I: Prelude Beneath Between & Behind Camera Eye YYZ Drum Solo Broon's Bane The Trees Xanadu The Spirit of Radio Red Barchetta Closer to the Heart Tom Sawyer Vital Signs Natural Science Working Man Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres Part IV: Armageddon By-tor & the Snow Dog In the End In the Mood 2112 (Grand Finale) Encore: La Villa Strangiato.
  9. OutKast is and will always be at the top of the list. I too hate when rappers just use samples all willy-nilly like. Lots of fans feel disrespected...I can only imagine the reactions from the artists...Here's one I found a few years ago that actually samples Rush. Its basically the guitars and synth from YYZ...I feel like it could have been a lot worse in the wrong hands...but I enjoyed this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PebQSSwjko
  10. When it comes to this kind of "artistry" I have to be able to find at least one redeeming quality about the production and work that went into said track...naturally the industry is filled with ghost-writers who actually get paid to come up with some of these less-than-inventive lyrics. The really early Kanye was the good stuff...pretty much everything after 808s & Heartbreak just fell into the garbage pile. Its natural for people "in the game" to have a very huge ego and an abrasive personality...but there's no excuse for Kanye acting like such a baby and being so insulting to an actual musician. "Producing" rap and hip-hop tracks isn't exactly hard...but the ones who pioneered the genre like Dr. Dre, Pac & Biggie, J. Dilla, Mos Def, basically the original east-coast west-coast crews have/had the most talent...though that's a strange word to throw around in a genre with a plethora of mindless subwoofer shaking. Hip-hop/Rap ain't what it used to be! :codger:
  11. Certainly sounds like him - he had that deep voice even at that age Yeah, I'd say it's him...judging from early footage/interviews with Neil (i.e. beginning of La Villa pinkpop video) and taking into account the slight pitch difference with age..It has to be.
  12. Yeah, I'm thinking about 100% of PBS stations in the south are voting nay on this one. It's a shame, would probably be the first time I've watched PBS since I was a wee lad...Should be on the youtubes soon.
  13. I can see where you're coming from. I admit, I did quite a bit of whining...but it started to subside after I bit the bullet and ordered the best seats available to me within budget. A lot of it probably just stemmed from a sense of panic that I think most people felt trying to navigate the presales. I know I think I felt like it would be easy to pull front row like I did on the CA tour, but I guess you can't be so lucky all the time. I do feel like the direct process through VIP Nation (if your venue wasn't a ticketmaster controlled venue) was a bit easier to deal with. All the TM site malfunctions and having to fill out the same awful captchas definitely didn't help matters (not to mention seeing the huge markup on secondhand tix probably rubbed people the wrong way too). Not everyone knows the ins and outs of buying tickets online...guess this is a new learning experience for some folks... Alas...the truth is, ya get what ya get and there's not much you can do about it. The "whining" will soon pass...best to just let it be IMO.
  14. Being in front of Geddy is a lot more fun and interactive, if you are a guy. :) Alex can be very serious, mind you he IS busy and doesn't interact much *most* shows, but he watches and rewards the worthy with picks and t-shirts and such. :) That's not why I would want to sit in front of him. I want to watch the master at work. Whether he acknowledges my presence or not doesn't matter. I was front row in front of Alex on the last tour...he'll actually become quite the hilarious distraction. I found myself watching his goofy antics more than Neil (which is who I wanted to pay the most attention to!). He definitely will acknowledge your presence. Lots of times it was almost like he was making faces at us like "hey, watch me play this incredible solo" He only gets really serious when the pyro starts blasting away right behind him
  15. Yeah, they'll ship them whenever they decide to ship them. So don't hold your breath. Some people on the last leg of the CA tour got theirs before their respective show. I got mine the day after the show I went to in Nashville. I guess it kinda depends on where you are in relation to where they're shipping them out from. If I recall correctly, they ship out of NJ.
  16. Following a phone call with VIP Nation in which the rep basically said every VIP gold package had been sold within the first second of the first VIP presale (with the password)...I had to cave and get the Silver. 13th row floor on Geddy's side...wayyy off to the side. I learned that was the case for just about every date that went through Ticketmaster (which apparently has solely to do with the certain venues being ticketmaster controlled). Needless to say, they really botched the entire thing this tour. But whatever...See y'all in New Orleans
  17. Ticketmaster just responded to me saying that VIP Gold packages were never offered for the New Orleans show...Then how does anyone get front row? No one on earth knew that ahead of time. I saw the option during the first presale...now they're saying they never even existed.
  18. Well looks like they're at it again. New VIP Presale for New Orleans and other dates adds tons of VIP Silver seats and Citi presale on regular tickets...ZERO VIP GOLD. I didn't believe it, but its true, if you get angry enough you actually start seeing red.
  19. Cool, thanks! Last tour didn't have tax or charges through vipnation, so I expected with most going through ticketmaster they would add their usual BS fees. I'm getting two, so I'm glad its only a relatively small charge per order.
  20. Anyone know if the VIP Gold has any hidden ticketmaster fees attached at checkout or is it just $403.00? Just want to make sure I've got enough.
  21. I've yet to get any confirmation from VIPNation but I think they simply didn't have all of the VIP packages available during the presale. I was told on twitter they would be "adding more inventory"...so I think once it gets closer to public onsale for VIP they'll have more of the Gold packages available...I'm holding out for New Orleans...Similar situation, zero gold packages available right off the bat and the same 8 seats in the silver packages kept popping up. They should have never let ticketmaster in on the VIP packages this tour.
  22. Yeah, its probably the last go around. I could see them possibly doing a festival here or there...but I think we can all agree that it would be beyond depressing to see (in the unlikely event) the boys do a residency/casino tour...I think they know that's where bands go to die. They'll probably go out with a bang this tour...possibly an album and maybe short bursts of light touring lasting about 2 weeks/5 dates each. You can definitely tell through the updates since the last tour Neil is enjoying his most important job, being a dad...Alex has been busy travelling...and I can just picture Geddy sitting alone at home practicing in front of the mirror like an awkward teen awaiting the phone call to let him know they're back on tour....but alas, this will be the last big tour...probably the last tour period...at least for a year or two...who knows?
  23. I'm currently doing some investigating of my own. I tried to do VIP presale for the 5/22 show in NOLA, but all the VIP Gold's were gone and only a handful of Silver within about 1-2 seconds from the exact moment they went on sale. I got on twitter and complained to the VIP Nation account, letting them know how they've screwed over a ton of people who were willing to pay a large sum of money for seats that would turn out to be nonexistent. I got a reply stating that "More inventory would be added on Feb 3rd"...about an hour later they deleted the reply. Just sent an email to try and figure out if that explanation holds any water. Hopefully there were only a very small number of select seats available and there are still seats (possibly front row area) that won't be made available until closer to the public onsale.... I should stress that I've yet to get a solid confirmation on this, but frankly I'm too pissed to not want to see what exactly is going on.
  24. Like most of you...Got on as soon as the VIP presale started and I'd be willing to bet all the gold packages disappeared at 9:59 because there was nothing except a single 6th row...but thats no good because I'm buying for two...anyone else tried to get VIP for this show?
