1. It turned out the growth our veterinarian removed from behind Rocky's paw last week was not malignant. The biopsy diagnosed an infection in the hair follicles caused the abcessed wound that had him limping. Rocky's still on antibiotics and pain meds, but should have the stitches out this weekend.
2. Joe did run a few years back, when he formed the Continuous Party.
3. "...and though she's not feeling ill, there's a little yellow pill..."
4. Quicksilver Messenger Service - The Fool
5. EJ baybee! Great song and solo. The entire album is a knockout. EJ is the master.
6. Yesterday afternoon I'm just going to let Rocky out into the backyard (he's progressing nicely, thank you) when I see a ball of fur at the base of a palm tree along the back wall. I leave Rocky inside and investigate, and find a small black and white short hair cat, who raises its head and hisses at me. Rocky gets brought back into the house and I call Animal Control. The field officer gets there two hours later, with a large towel and a cage. She nudges the cat, whose front twists around, and yowls once. The back half of the cat does not move. The field officer and I simultaneously say, "broke down rear end", and I add "probably hit by a car", to which the officer nods. The officer runs an electronic scanner over the cat in search of a chip, but find none. The cat is wrapped in the towel and placed in the cage. The cat will be examined, but most likely put down for humane reasons, as is often the case. I've been thinking about that poor cat all day :( .
7. Hope Rocky gets Better! we shall see. I took him in to the vet this morning, and I noticed a swollen area on the undeside of his leg above his paw. The vet said after he put Rocky under and probed the swelling it burst, which released a lot of pus and small amount of blood. That's when the vet found a small solid mass under the initial swelling. He removed what he could of that solid mass, what with all the tendons and nerves back there, and is sending to a laboratory for biopsy. I pick Rocky up this evening and take him back Thursday for a follow-up. I doubt by Thursday the biopsy results will be back. Other than that Rocky is OK except for his annual vaccinations and tests, which are due next month. Between the two of these things I'll drop $1,000 easy. I sincerely hope it is nothing serious. How old is Rocky? Vets are very expensive. It costs between $300-500.00 sometimes just to find out what's wrong with them, then add treatment on top of that - it all adds up quickly. Rocky is lucky to have an owner who can afford to do such things. We never received his actual age when we adopted him from the shelter, but Rocky has to be close to 13 or 14, up there a bit. I've known about the cost of veterinary treatments for decades with Rocky, the three cats we had before we had him, experiences of other pet owners, plus my experiences back home in Detroit in the 70's and 80's as a dogcatcher. One of my former co-workers here in FL breeds and shows Irish Setters as a hobby, and at one time she actually ponied up the $$$ to have her Vet make house calls. To her it was worth it. Her Setters are her babies, and she has some beauties. We call them Irish Shitters for obvious reasons. But I wouldn't say that to her. More like Irish Wreckers. Her adult dogs destroyed the interior of her house not far from mine. Holes in doors drywall etc. She ended up getting on some land with outdoor kennels East of Starke, FL (she now works in Jacksonville), but the old house ended up going to a liquidator. I think it was the company that advertises "Ug buys ugly homes." Yeah, those dogs made that house real ugly!
8. Is that your pup, ORF? Anyway Rocky is back from the vet, and the most unerving thing is this growth the doc pulled out from behind the infected wound. It's hard and cratered, like a very small peach pit. That goes to the lab for biopsy, and Rocky goes back to the vet Thursday for follow-up and dressing change. Doc also gave me some antibiotics and pain pills, but all Rocky cared about was food, made a beeline for hif bowl once he got home. He's in good spirits!

12. Rocky stepping very carefully on his right front paw, putting it down very gingerly and looking forlorn. Rubbed his paw with some of the veterinary liniment I use on myself, and gave him a slice of salami dosed with CBD oil. If he is still taking weight off that paw a trip to the vet will be needed.
13. .50 BMG, I assume. Nice! Happy Birthday Jack.
14. Thank you everyone. It was a relatively quiet celebration, given Karen's mobility issues, but fun nevertheless. Cheers!
15. Saw media release yesterday from the local police about a motorcycle traffic officer being involved in an accident. Karen and I commented, "OMG, could that have been John?" ( one of our BF's) . An update confirmed it was him, and through another friend found out he's in a local ICU. We've reached out to his wife by phone, but at this point there's not much more to do than pray. God, this sucks! :(
16. Tom Clancy describes such a scenario in The Sum of All Fears. After the female prisoner hangs herself with her bra a guard watching on CCTV turns of the video and says in effect, "camera is broken, better get a replacement". A fellow guard says "It'll be at least an hour." As for Epstein, good, saves John Q. Taxpayer the cost of a criminal trial. The civil trial lawyers must be salivating at the thought of demolishing his estate. Sad that no amount of money will ever heal his victims.
17. Guess one would have to pick up a league of gentlemen and a few roches along the way......not to mention a fine session bassist/Stickist and a Bowie/Zappa tour alumni.... not to mention the String Quintet.
18. God, saw them in late '70/early '71 at Detroit's Eastown Theater in support of Lizard. Fripp kept asking for patience "while we tune the untunable", probably referring to the Mellotron, and Boz Burrell looked a little lost onstage. Was a hell of a show, encoring with a wild version of The Devil's Triangle. I have Live in Toronto loaded onto the MP3 player, but I need more of the early stuff!
19. I remember this one especially for its use in the Bally’s gym commercials. I remember her shilling Vic Tanny, a chain of gyms in Michigan, using "Strut."
20. Da Yoopers, straight outta the U P (upper peninsula of Michigan), extolling the virtues of the land, its inhabitants, their activities (deer hunting, drinking, winter activities) and commentary on "the trolls from down below" (inhabitants of Michigan's lower peninsula).

23. The original Seinfeld theme was played on a Korg M1. Musician Jonathan Wolff also does Seinfeld bass riffs on a Kurzweil keyboard. Siddown, fakeass!
