  1. I wouldn't mind seeing him play the Grand designs opening line once, hitting a loop pedal, and then carrying on, but the sampling he does is fair enough.
  2. I will be receiving a signed Weird Al poster when I go to his concert in August. I also have a limited edition T-Shirt and Lithograph from Panda Bear for pre-ordering Panda Bear meets the Grim Reaper, and I have a limited edition Inflatable of a character from the Dan Deacon Album Gliss Riffer (Along with the limited pressing of Red Vinyl for that album)
  3. Whats wrong with the drill sergeant everyone? Besides the blatant politics they are bringing into the song, I find it to be a great interlude in between each of the song's sections. Also heads up to whoever asked, yes the drill sergeant is in the actual track on the album (I assume) because the track that precedes it is called Drill Sergeant
  4. Yes, rather often. His notes for this track are rather good, but he seems to have a habit of dismissing several rising indie bands after they release an album following their breakout success. The biggest one I can note is his review of Panda Bear Vs The Grim Reaper, which he bashed...and was seemingly the only reviewer to do so, because the album received universal acclaim (83 on Metacritic I believe)
  5. Oh wow that's amazing. I have always wanted to see Neil leave his kit for a second to play another instrument or something, so that he could join Alex and Geddy on the front line.
  6. I quite enjoyed that song's construction, with the sampling of the drill sergeant and all. The riff is rather repetitive though.
  7. I definitely want the Lego Movie Soundtrack, and I also may get the Replacements EP and Reverend Horton Heat Single if funds allow.
  8. Yeah, but there are only Small and Medium sizes left. I need a large.
  9. Going to see TMBG in May. Complete performance of 'The Else'. Nice, I envy you, having access to see TMBG at their monthly stand in Brooklyn, Enjoy I'm Impressed. Thats one song I'm dying to hear at my show.
  10. I attempted one record store day to get the Caravan/BU2B single, only to not find it at several stores (probably they did ship many copies to Winnipeg). I bought it online later that day, only to find in disappointment that it had a small hole in it, not a normal big hole on most singles, so I could not put it in my dad's jukebox. I am going to participate in the festivities this year as my second favorite band They Might Be Giants are playing a free show in Minneapolis to commemorate the day, and Minneapolis happens to be the place I was already conveniently going to see them.
  11. I don't really understand how your interpreting my post Lorraine, but I assure you I mean no harm or shaming to posters who worry about their post count. I have no standards to anyone on here as to how frequently or meaningfully they post. To everyone I say post whatever you want. This forum is all for fun after all. The intent of posting this topic was to question how people find the energy to type so much (and by meaningful, I mean that they put good thought into each post (not to mention good grammer and presentation in most posts too)). I think the only time I really pay attention to the post count is when someone is a long awaited froind posting a possibly fishy topic in case they are trying to phish, but that has been extremely rare.
  12. I should note that I am not that concerned about post count (although I do dream of getting that coveted solar federalist badge at some point). I am just curious how people can type so much. I don't really bother with the games, list whatevers, and spam threads because I figure that it's likely not many people will take a detailed reading.
  13. I have to wonder, I am on this site everyday that I am on a computer, and yet I have watched countless regulars join after me and just zoom right by my post count. How does everyone have the dexterity to type so much content with meaning? I'm especially looking at people with 50000+ posts Also, as a side note, at this rate I will become a Solar Federalist sometime in August of 2017. YIKES!
  14. And by the way, NO, this is not a animated GIF, its a standstill picture (or is it?(the plot thickens))
  15. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/91r3f7RUobL._SL1500_.jpg Merriweather Post Pavilion by Animal Collective need I say more?
  16. Not the end of the world. It's not like Vinyl that can wear out. So long as people take care of their copies, the album will be resold. I have never bothered to buy it due to it's price, and lack of Power Windows material, but it has been sitting in my local HMV (that's our media store up in Canada for all of you American readers) for a long time now, and probably not going anywhere anytime soon.
  17. I should Damn Well Hope So. I am scared to death about this tour's set, considering that they played so many Power Windows songs last tour, and the fact that in an interview, Neil described some of their email discussions including the words "We played a lot from that album last tour so we don't need to worry about it this tour". If the show does not include a single Power Windows song, it will suffer (look at the snakes and arrows set for evidence). I think Marathon would be the most appropriate for this tour, and a lot of people would appreciate it's inclusion. Even people who dislike Power Windows generally like Marathon.
  18. As the title says, if Rush held an auction to write a set, how much do you think the winning bid would be (and lets assume it's for charity) How much would a winning bid to choose one song to play on the R40 tour be? How much...to write the first set on the R40 tour be? How much...to write the entire show be? I'm curious what everyone thinks (and don't get into the details on whether or not they would do this due to Geddy's voice...Yada Yada)
  19. Purple is my favorite, and I refuse to give a vote to the hack colours of Indigo and Violet. Who agrees I should remake this thread with Purple as an option (along with Brown, Grey and Pink, who are the other snubbed candidates)
  20. I have never worn earplugs, but that's because I have tough ears. They have been through hell, but my hearing has always been the same. People who know me would probably not agree, but that's because I have selective hearing. I would say wear them if you are older, prone to hearing loss, or need your ears at their A-game after the concert, but if you don't fall under those categories, I say enjoy the concert as is.
  21. No idea what that gibberish is up there, but album of the year for me thus far is Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper by Panda Bear
  22. I have both of her albums now, actually for quite some time now. The debut is a better album overall, but her second one, Shatter Me is better track by track. Both of them dip a bit in interest, but I suppose they can't be full of fast stuff. In response to Bowl City, I actually enjoy We Are Giants, it may have some similar qualities to bad pop music, but it works in a way. Also I learned how to play two of her songs, Electric Daisy Violin and Moon Trance on Marimba. They are VERY difficult. The only easy think about them is that they keep a constant beat and key.
  23. Again, take my above comment as a silly thing. I just find everything funny how this forum basically has two modes, active serious mode, and standby silly mode. And how a forum can take a big tone shift when that happens. And to Toymaker, my invitation is the sponsored post at the top of this forum, and my credentials include owning two Vinyl copies of Power Windows (in addition to the CD). It's the one Rush album that will NEVER leave my IPod. I am the guy who wants Clockwork Angels Tour Round 3 just to hear more Power Windows material. I have the shirt for the album, and I have learned several synth lines, and analysed the hell out of the album to properly project its greatness onto others.
  24. HEY! I started this thread long ago as a silly thing during the no tour/album drought, and for a long time, that was the case. But with the tour resurfacing, everyone is taking this super seriously. Whats with that. Anyway, my original intention was that people had to fight to be the ambassador by stating their case for why they are the biggest fan and the best person to explain to a non fan why the album rocks. Now sure, everyone can pick any album and join, but at that point this all turns into a suedo poll for favorite album
  25. I would say that the only concerts (besides childrens concerts obviously) that non walking, talking, and head not big enough for proper ear protection kids could go to are outdoor music festivals like Bonnaroo and the like, where parents have plenty of room to move around near the back while still enjoying the concert, and lots of private areas to feed them. As for Rush, No, as so many people have said before. Fact is there will be some form of hearing damage, if its indoors and your in a druggy city (I.E. NOT Winnieapolis) there will be lots of stuff that should not be inhaled by fragile lungs, the moment he cries, you will get a ton of looks, AND WORST OF ALL. If he grows into a Rush fan later in his life, and you tell him that he actually saw them on the R40 tour, he is going to be really bummed that he was too young to remember it.
