QUOTE (presto123 @ Jun 5 2012, 01:59 AM) What are your guy's training paces? Back when I was serious most of my training was 7 to 8 minutes a mile.(unless I was doing speedwork) Now that I just run for fitness it's more like 8:30 to 9:30 per mile. When I'm healthy (i.e. not injured), 8:40-9:15mm average pace. Right now, I'm down to 9:40 plus, or just fortunate to be out there in the first place. Unless I need to know distance, I don't take my Garmin out with me much anymore because it's too depressing. I use it on the bike though so I can gauge miles and time.

QUOTE (Union 5-3992 @ Jun 4 2012, 05:31 PM) HOLY SWEET MOTHER OF **** Yes, and some makeup artist better get an Emmy for Layne's face alone. It made ME sick, even though it wasn't "real".

I DVR the show because it's on too late for me, just got around to watching last night, but I saw a headline on the interwebs about a character committing suicide (and a picture of Pete) and I was part "spoiled" and part wondering who it was. I thought Pete was an obvious choice for suicide victim, so I started to think it would be either Layne or Roger. Sure enough... Knowing this upfront and Don saying to Layne "Take the weekend to figure out an elegant exit" when he fired Layne - made me wince. The fact the Jaguar wouldn't start WAS funny (even Jared Harris, the actor who plays Layne, said he laughed when reading that part of the script) I love the Sally stories (and as a woman, I guess I wasn't that freaked out by the bathroom scene at the museum - but I can see how some men are!) The girl who plays Sally is SO good, she really captured that freak-out moment of becoming a woman, and running straight for her mother (not Megan) despite their differences. So personally, I'm still interested in her coming-of-age tales. The feud between Betty and Megan is a little trite for me. it's expected and only adds to the fact Betty is still childish and bratty herself.

I listened to the clips but I can't judge based on them. Gonna wait for next Tuesday, not searching for a leak either.

QUOTE (metaldad @ Jun 2 2012, 01:37 PM) Not food, only Beer Good point. I wine taste up and down the finger lakes of new york like no ones business. Heck, I live here so it's great for entertaining visitors on. Wine sampling does cost money, but only a couple bucks. And you learn what you like before buying the bottle and learn about the wines at the wineries. Lots of fun!

Glad I don't have it yet. If I did, i doubt I would tell anyone because I wouldn't have any ideaHOW to upload it for people I don't need an entire community angry at me for lack of technology and associated intelligence.

Usually not. I have taken some before, but I am very selective.

QUOTE (GhostGirl @ May 24 2012, 10:48 AM) QUOTE (Queen of Megadon @ May 24 2012, 10:03 AM) 100 Days of Real Foods I found this on Pinterest, and thought you might be interested GG. Yes, I love that site. I got the whole wheat cookie recipe from there. I've been using more whole wheat flour in my baking, but depending on the ratio of whole wheat to white (if using a mix of both), it can make the result a bit chewy and tough. I'm getting used to it, but sometimes it's not so great. I like this blog: http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/ A lot of her recipes are vegan (I am not) but she has some decent stuff that is healthy and natural. My only criticisms are some of the ingredients are tough to find (coconut oil) and her portion sizes are quite tiny in cookie recipes. I think I made her peanut butter cookies onetime and the whole recipe was supposed to make like 25or something? I was lucky to get half of that by time I got done spooning the portions out, meaning the cookies were not 50 calories each! Oh well. I follow her on FB so she shares her recent posts and I usually check them out. My favorite are her single-serving recipes, like the chocolate cake that can be made in a mug and the microwave, and the Single Lady Cupcake. So perfect if you have a craving but don't want to make, or eat, the WHOLE recipe. She also has a good banana bread recipe.

Hi Runners, I am on and off all the time...I hurt, then I don't... have two big races coming up for summer and hoping I can get through them. And I do mean "get through". Running doesn't seem to like me anymore Tendonitis all over the ankles, shins and feet, plantar faciitis, you name it. I think the shoes I am in now are on their way out - even though I have only had them since February and only about 200/250 miles on 'em. But, they were a more minimalist shoe and I debated getting them because I wondered about their own endurance! Guess I was right. All this sh*t is getting expensive! I bought a bike to cross-train and while it's not the same as running, I can do it quite well for a good amount of time - about 1.5-2 hours of biking, 20-30 miles(comparable to 6-12 miles of running). I'm starting to like it more, probably because I don't experience pain, other than out of shape quads on the hills It's just not the same - I have to go out way further on a ride, take more with me (helmet, phone, water belt, sunglasses, bike shorts..) and deal with having bike breakdowns, like flats! Sometimes I wish I liked the feeling of being fat and lazy. But, I don't, so I neeeeed exercise, and it neeeeeds to be outside.

QUOTE (danielmclark @ Jun 1 2012, 12:09 PM) QUOTE (iluvgeddy05 @ Jun 1 2012, 10:53 AM) And that "fresh" bread? )I can't say I have seen Subway employees making putting together fresh yeast in the back, rolling out the dough and baking it. Most likely that bread was frozen and warmed in the ovens you see at the counter, mostly for space and convenience purposes.) Then add the dressings which are loaded with more chemicals and fat - and the "fat free" ones have sugar and salt dumped in to replace the flavor the fat usually adds... They don't roll dough in the restaurant, but they have dough shipped in which is then baked fresh. They are not sent fully baked frozen bread. Incidentally, apart from mom & pop bakeries, this is pretty standard. As for the dressings, standard oil and vinegar is what I get when I go there, and there's nothing wrong with that as long as they don't drench the sandwich. It's just oil and vinegar. Hmm, ok. I guess I still question where it's being shipped in from, and how it stays fresh (how long does "shipping" take)? Bread ingredients (actually ALL the food ingredients!) are listed here: http://www.subway.com/Nutrition/Files/usProdIngredients.pdf Not sure what sorghum is and, and the various "dough conditioners" sound freaky. My skepticism is also based on former consumption of Subway bread and real, made-at-home from real scratch bread (not a box!) - and the difference in taste. Again, I can't say I don't ever eat bread with preservatives, but I try to limit, if and when I can. Oh and I love myself some olive oil - I often just whisk up dressing at home for various salads and whatnot with good quality olive oil, balsamic or apple cider vinegar, salt, pepper, fresh lemon and a teaspoon of organic fruit preserves (if you want something sweet).

Yucko. I'm not so sure how much "healthier" Subway is either. Just because it's not fried or red (pink slime?) meat does not mean it's healthier. Deli meats in general are processed with a TON of chemicals and salt, including cheese. And that "fresh" bread? )I can't say I have seen Subway employees making putting together fresh yeast in the back, rolling out the dough and baking it. Most likely that bread was frozen and warmed in the ovens you see at the counter, mostly for space and convenience purposes.) Then add the dressings which are loaded with more chemicals and fat - and the "fat free" ones have sugar and salt dumped in to replace the flavor the fat usually adds... Call me a food snob if you want - because its true. Eating out, especially at natioanlly-owned restaurants and chains - is rarely healthy. Sometimes it's not avoidable, of course, but choosing Subway over McDonalds instead of making your own lunch on a regular basis isn't great for you..

QUOTE (theredtamasrule @ May 28 2012, 10:48 AM) What an episode last night, it'll end up a classic I think. Pete Campbell is a slimeball to say the least...and Peggy...wow! Didn't see it coming. Good for Peggy - no amount of money thrown at her (literally and otherwise) would keep her at SCDP - but I hope she is kept in the story lines!! I used to think Pete was a sad troubled man - and still do - but my empathy for him went out the door this time. The fact that Joan did what she did though did surprise me a bit.. Favorite part of the episode? Seeing the scene of Don at Joan's apartment twice - before the pitch at Jaguar, and during. It was surreal and so carefully crafted.

Is it unethical to resell tickets on a fan site...
iluvgeddy05 replied to kid-gloves's topic in On The Lighted Stage
When I have resold tickets, they have been at face value, or less just to get rid of it. Probably because my intention buying the ticket in the first place was to use it, but chose to resell due to other circumstances (could not make show, purchased better ticket at later date). -
QUOTE (Janie @ May 4 2012, 07:54 PM) Bueller? Bueller? Ok, I'll go first. First, I have to give a shout-out to Costco. I buy a lot of things in bulk from them. PANTRY STAPLES garlic ginger potatoes yellow onions green beans (yes, canned, my MIL loathes canned veggies but I actually like them much better than frozen. I'm sure this is a major faux pas with other foodies.) peas sweet corn petite-diced tomatoes w/sweet onions & roasted garlic (I buy a ton of these cans - they are so, so good!) tomato sauce (god bless that Costco) tomato paste pasta (wagon wheels for the kids, rotini, penne, canneloni, lasagna, large shells, spaghetti) stuffing rice (white and certain "flavored" rice that I am a huge fan of) sauerkraut coconut milk cream of mushroom soup cream of broccoli soup golden mushroom soup fried onions cranberry sauce dried cranberries diced chiles diced jalapenos diced black olives bisquick Panko herbs/spices (currently have 30 and adding to the collection this weekend by going to a really good spice shop in Seattle) FREEZER STAPLES egg rolls dumplings broccoli chopped spinach pureed squash beef (ground) roast (loves me some pot roast done in the crockpot) stew meat chicken breasts pork chops (boneless) fish fillets (plain, non-breaded) Costco's cheese pizzas (The kids LOVE these pizzas. I like them too. I add a bunch of toppings like mushrooms, onions, pepperoni, salami, olives, green pepper, diced tomatoes...) FRIDGE STAPLES sour cream - totally head over heels in love with sour cream butter cream mozzarella ricotta gruyere extra sharp cheddar cheese sriracha Basically, I want to see your lists because I want to expand my pantry options. I'm answering your post directly with my two indispensable items: Chicken broth (or veggie broth) - great base for soups, stews, crock pot recipes or you can even cook veggies in it to give it a bit more than just water. Worcestershire sauce: Add to ground beef before making burgers. You will never go back. 1/4 c. per 1lb of burger, just mix in by hand in a big ol' bowl before making into patties. SO so good.

I'll bite (HA! get it?!).... in no particular order: chicken broth white rice - jasmine or basmati pasta in many shapes and forms canned beans (various) canned diced tomatoes <---- can be used in almost anything! canned soups - particularly c/o cellery and c/or mushroom a good marinara or red sauce olive oil vegetable oil garlic shallots (good substitute for when you run out of garlic or don't have onions on hand) various condiments (ketchup, mayo, mustard) flour - white and whole wheat sugar - white, brown and powdered baking soda/powder other baking supplies, like cornstarch, corn syrup, vanilla extract, cocoa powder, chocolate squares, etc. lime juice cooking wines (white I use most) frozen steam-able veggies unsalted butter old bay eggs/egg whites salt/pepper Worcestershire sauce soy sauce honey maple syrup (REAL, not Log Cabin, Aunt Jemima, etc. I'm talking natural pure maple syrup from actual trees) peanut butter BIG spice rack of basics - oregano, parsley, thyme, etc. vinegar - white, balsamic, wine, apple cider

QUOTE (Union 5-3992 @ Apr 24 2012, 09:28 PM) I've heard that there were hints that a main character will die this season. I feel we should have a dead pool going here. I'll put my money on Pete. He's getting more and more depressed and always speaks of this gun he has. hmmm interesting point. He is certainly self-destructive in his pre-occupation with being "king" of his castle.

So the LSD episode. Whoa. Watching the Roger/Jane scene was so wild, I felt like they did almost! So sad when they woke in the morning and Jane had no recollection of what she said. I'm also glad when don chased Megan around the apartment it didn't turn into some s&m scene like last time. If those apartment walls could talk...

The Buffalo pre-sale was great! Scored 8th row on Alex's side! MUCH better than the NH tix. Just glad to be going to any shows at all - love the boys, love the fans.

QUOTE (Bastille Night @ Apr 23 2012, 11:36 AM) Yep, I got three tix in fourth row for opening night. Threw back about 25 times, then these ones popped up at about 12:15. Note to people: RECAPTCHA didn't work for me when I was using Firefox. I lost a few precious minutes messing around, then switched over to Internet Explorer. Not sure if this was just my machine, but you might want to use IE for Music Today sales. FF did not work for me at first but I refreshed the page and it did. Safari worked fine on the iPad too but I didn't buy from that browser..

QUOTE (driventotheedge @ Apr 23 2012, 10:14 AM) QUOTE (iglehart @ Apr 23 2012, 06:57 AM) ok, so how do I log into that one? I don't see any login. Last time I logged in ahead of time to get tickets faster. So did I and the first pre-sale's start in 45 mins. as I type this and still no login available. Perhaps you'll be asked to login after you choose your tix? Once the first one happens would someone who purchases tix this morning PLEASE report back on this thread and let us know how this went down? Thanks in advance..... I think the "ticket info" links will change to something like "find tickets" to which you will get thrown some seats - you choose to keep or not. Once you choose, then you login to purchase. IIRC that is what happened last time around.

QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Apr 19 2012, 08:34 PM) QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Apr 19 2012, 09:17 PM) QUOTE (Chrysalii @ Apr 19 2012, 08:08 PM) $91, $66, and $46.50 at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo according to the First Niagara Center website. That's less than I thought it would be. That's less than I thought it would be to. I figured the highest priced seats would be $100 or a little more before the fees but $91 for the best seats isn't too bad at all. Thats very reasonable. I can deal with that. $120 is about my limit in terms of when I start to say "with!!!!"
