  1. I posted this in the periscope thread but right back atcha brother. Great meeting you and the other TRF'rs. Here is the shot from my camera. http://i493.photobucket.com/albums/rr300/Fatorgan/IMG_5343_zpsttpwipaj.jpg Ok, who has the picture of me with this crew? If possible, I'd love to have a copy of it to add to my tour photo collection. I think this is one of mine and I have them all if you want pm me you email Thanks Robert, PM sent.
  2. Yup, the scalper scum are still exploiting Rush fans. I can't help but wonder if any of this SWAG on ebay is actually being sold by Ticketbasterd.

  4. I'm really surprised that Neil would put together a playlist that caters so well to my tastes, given that our tastes seem to vary so greatly when it comes to Rush songs. It really is a great selection of songs. I'd say my favorite in terms of setting my mood for a Rush concert was Spanish Castle Magic, which was appropriately usually played very close to the start of the show.
  5. I had a group of guys sitting right behind me at the LA show who did manage to remain spoiler free. I will say that the opener in Tulsa was by far the best show for me because of all of the awesome surprises in the setlist - like Cygnus X-1, Lakeside Park, Anthem, and What You're Doing. Because of that I can totally understand why so many people wanted to remain spoiler free.
  6. This is a very good breakdown, but doesn't quite tell the full detailed story. There were three base sets lists that were alternated for most of the shows, Early on, it was A, B, C, then repeat in order, but starting with Toronto and the introduction of Losing It, the rotation got out of whack at various times. All in all, there were 7 different variations of sets, 3 of which were only played once and 1 of which was only played twice. Cygnus X-1.net appears to have them broken out nicely (as usual). http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/setlists.php My favorite of the three base sets was the B- set, which included The Wreckers, How It Is, Between the Wheels, and The Camera Eye. My favorite of the whole tour was the 2nd Toronto show, which combined the B- set (for the first set), and the C- set (for the 2nd set) - but with Losing It added and The Wreckers omitted.
  7. From my vantage point, they seemed to really step up to another level for the 2nd Toronto show in comparison to the 4 shows I had seen up to that point. I wasn't at the Montreal and Boston shows, but I'm told they kept it up there for both, and Philly was next in line, and I felt like the Philly show was even a little better than Toronto II. I will admit I have difficulty being objective though - Philly is my hometown venue, and I was front row right in front of Geddy for that show. Philly was also one of the toughest tickets to find of the entire tour. I was extremely proud of how we represented ourselves, and love the fact that johnnyonthespot (a non-Philadelphian) singled out this show as the "most electric" audience. We get a lot of bad raps from a lot of outsiders, but many bands over the years (Rush included!) have enjoyed feeding off of the unsurpassed enthusiasm we bring to a concert. Taking the audience electricity out of the equation, I think Toronto II, Philly, and LA were the best performances of the dozen shows I saw.
  8. I thought the Newark crowd left a bit to be desired. The closest lower bowl section to the stage on Alex's side sat down through much of the show.
  9. Nice job! It was great meeting you in LA, however briefly. It was great meeting you too. Sad that we were at the same party in Seattle but didn't know it! Dude that blew my mind. In the same HOT upstairs pub yet we didn't meet. Did you catch Ron dropping his beer on x1yyz? That funny as hell because she took it so well...kinda rhymes. The Geddy clone there was interesting to meet. Even sounded Canadian No, I didn't see anyone getting beer spilled on them… I don't remember seeing the Geddy clone either??? There were so many people there you could barely move. I was lucky enough to be there early enough to get a seat all the way inside, and I pretty much hung out with several of the great people I know from the east coast and some of the great people I had met in Vancouver and at some other shows.
  10. Nice job! It was great meeting you in LA, however briefly. It was great meeting you too. Sad that we were at the same party in Seattle but didn't know it! Did you meet any other TRFers there? (The party in the upstairs area of the bar, right?) I was hanging out with 3 or 4 others. Not that I'm aware of. I met quite a few people that day though, so maybe I did without realizing it.
  11. Indeed. Just tickets alone. :o I've noticed that the same people tend to do it for every tour. I just can't imagine especially the way ticket prices have been. Then to add on a hotel, transportation to and from wherever you go while you're there, food....etc. And what are the odds you could get tickets for 12 shows on THIS tour without having to resort to StubHub or some other broker. Then it really gets ridiculous. Actually there were some great deals available on StubHub for several shows late in the day on show days. I bought a 3rd row ticket right in front of Alex for New Orleans for $280. Then I ended up selling my previously bought 16th row seat for $60 (I had paid $145 for it). There were people everywhere selling tickets for that show and very few buyers. My friends in Calgary all ended up in the first 2 rows. There were something like 6 or 8 front row seats on stub hub that went unsold for that show. The highest I paid was $675 for MSG. I hadn't planned on going to that show until the day before and there were very few tickets available,
  12. I know several people who went to well over 20, the top number being 29. Was 29 Stevie? Not who I was speaking of, but she may possibly have gone to that many.

  15. I saw 12. I took advantage of being from Delaware, and went to Philly, Bristow, Newark and MSG which are all less than 2 hours away. My "travel" shows were Tulsa, New Orleans, Tampa, both Toronto shows, Vancouver, Seattle, and LA. It cost me a small fortune, and priority-wise, much more than I should have spent. But I would do it again in a heartbeat. If I had more vacation time I would have gone to more shows. I met and shared the experience with some awesome and incredibly nice people. I truly had the time of my life.
  16. I got tazered. It did help TRF folk spot the group. Yep that shirt is what caught my attention. It was very cool meeting you guys, I really wish I would have had more time to hang out and talk and have a beer with you all, but I REALLY needed to find some food before the show. It was a pretty crazy day…
  17. I never bother to look at them. Nothing against anyone who asks this silly question… but I've said this before and I'll say it again - when you start a question with those five words the answer is always, always, always NO!
  18. The man's opinion is based in ignorance of who Rand Paul is and what he believes and should be called out as such. The man's opinion is based in ignorance of who Rand Paul is and what he believes and should be called out as such. Alrighty. That's cool. Then prove it. Just saying, it's more productive to, say, create a list of reasons why Rand Paul doesn't hate brown people and women, or provide rationale for it... Than it is to just call someone a name because they have that opinion. I'm not saying Neil's right. I'm saying refute his claim rather than attack him. Mr Drum God provided no evidence for his claims. Because he's got nothing. Rand Paul has been the most outspoken candidate on issues important to the black community such as overzealous policing and restoration of voting rights to felons who have served their time, and has stressed outreach to minority views and has criticized his party for their lack of appeal to minorities...He's also the most anti-war candidate with a chance to win in either major party...you'd think Peart would be predisposed to like that. Apparently he hasn't done the first bit of research about it. Which in reality means absolutely nothing, except that Rand Paul is trying to garner votes from a wide variety of demographics. Rand Paul is a politician, and as such, none of us really knows what he truly believes in. The only thing we know for certain, is that his largest donors will benefit financially (at our expense) if he is elected. An easy thing to say, which has the benefit of not having to do any thinking to come up with. It's not that we're lazy. It's more like we have a mental firewall with a 'don't give a F' filter. That filter traps all information about fringe politicians who have no chance of getting elected president. It allows more relevent information to pass freely. A very understandable sentiment, but that wasn't really my point. My point was that while we argue and bicker about what he said or what she said, or rail for or against any particular candidate, we lose sight of, and contribute to, the fact that our political system is completely failing us. I wish that instead of succumbing to the powers that be, and resigning to choose the "lesser of the evils", the vast majority would at least try to unite ourselves in opposition to the secretive exchange of dollars and favors that predominates virtually all of our elected offices today… wake up and realize that there is no lesser of evils - it is all the same evil. I believe rooting out that evil should be our #1 priority at all times. We can argue about the most effective way to swat flies all day, but as long as the pile of dung that attracts them is still there, what is the point? I also wish that folks would learn to exchange opinions without feeling the need to elevate themselves and their own beliefs by belittling others. This petty name-calling and political labeling that dominates virtually every political discussion these days is clearly dragging our society in a backwards direction. We are all human, and none of us is always right, no matter how adamantly and forcefully we state our opinions. It especially saddens me to see Rush fans behave this way. I'm struggling right now to persuade myself to keep coming here..

  20. FWIW, I bought VIP Gold for the CA tour in Philly, and picked up my ticket at a special ticket window at the venue box office at @ 4:30 on the day of the show. I can't imagine where else one would pick up a ticket. I'm fairly certain you will simply need to go to the box office/will call location and ask or look for the window(s) dedicated to VIP tickets. Make sure you have ID, as I'm pretty sure they will ask to see it to verify that you are the ticket purchaser.

  22. Might help if you said for which show. :) Agreed, and it would also help to list the actual seat location. There is a monumental difference between being Row 10 Geddy on the inside aisle vs outside aisle. This is also my biggest beef with stub hub. How anyone ever buys seats in the outside floor sections without knowing the seat location is beyond me.
  23. Probably because we got T-shirts the last time. I wish we'd gotten one this time too. Especially considering the price on most of the shirts now. I would much have preferred that over the bag although it's a nice bag. I'm disappointed at not getting the tshirt as well. They raised the price $100 and took away the t-shirt. That's what really makes me sad. I really enjoy having a shirt that is exclusive to VIP purchasers. Makes me feel special .
  24. I'm pretty sure I did some extensive research on this subject throughout the 80's an 90's and into the 00's. I don't recall any conclusive results though.
