  1. QUOTE (TheAccountant @ Jan 2 2012, 09:51 PM) 2112!!! What an incredible song!! As great as Something for Nothing is, 2112 simply blows it away. All of the other songs are excellent but these 2 and esp 2112 - wow. By the way, let me make this clear, IMO its not just The Overture & The Temples of Syrinx that make 2112 (although if that was the song it might still be the best song on the album), its the rest of the song. As incredible as those 1st 2 parts are, then to slow down into Discovery (I always get a vision of a slightly confused Ales turning a guitar around in hands and trying to figure out how to play it during this part of the song) then speed up into Presentation with a conversation going on within the song plus changes in speed within this portion of the song, then change the tempo again into the Oracle, then slow down into Soliloquy and then the ripping Finale - incredible genius is the best way to describe it. All of these changes take the song to another level that go way beyond the magnificent power of The Overture and Temples. In my opinion the Oracle is a grossly overlooked portion of this song. It builds in power till Geddy lets lose with: "Home to tear the Temples down" "Home to change". Awsome. Gee, get the feeling that I like this song? Think I made that clear. My favorite part of 2112 is definitely Soliloquy. The guitar solo is soooooooooooo awesome!
  2. QUOTE (the_necromancer @ Aug 24 2004, 03:38 AM) lessons but i like 2112 to couldent choose I believe Lessons is their most underrated song. It got my vote, but 2112 is a very close 2nd.
  3. The Necromancer is #1 on my all-time favorite songs list. The first two searing, raging guitar solos and complementary bass parts give me a pure adrenaline RUSH every time I hear them, and the finale is more beautiful than words could ever possibly describe. I'm really surprised Bastille Day scored so high in this vote. Don't get me wrong, I love the song, but IMO, Necromancer, Lakeside Park and Fountain of Lamneth are all clearly better choices.
  4. QUOTE (madra sneachta @ Aug 26 2004, 06:30 PM) QUOTE (CygnusX-1Bk2 @ Aug 24 2004, 06:14 PM) Went with Fountain, because it is their first full length piece, but would also like to add that it could have been divided up, as each tune is stand alone as well as part of the greater whole. In the Valley, Didacts and Narpets, No One At The Bridge, and Bachus Plateau in particular (but that really only leaves out Panacea, since the end is pretty much In the Valley). COS is the first Rush album I ever bought. To learn Bastille Day for the band I was in when I was 12. I agree with Cyg - I voted for Fountain, and if broken up, would say No-one at the Bridge. Hmmmm.... love No One at the Bridge, but I've always been partial to Bacchus Plateau. The guitar solo in that song is a pure thing of beauty!
  5. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Feb 28 2012, 04:18 PM) Once again, You can't compete with By Tor & the Snowdog. This is IMHO the first song that Rush did that you could identify as Prog -Metal! This is Rush at their best! I love By-Tor, but I voted Making Memories. I've always loved that song and I'm unpleasantly surprised to see that it has received virtually no love in the voting. I wonder how many voters would say it was second or third on their list?
  6. QUOTE (CygnusX-1Bk2 @ Aug 24 2004, 06:11 PM) Anthem because it is the first song that they collaborated on with Neil (at his audition) and because of the lyrical content. It was the first of many about individualism. This song meant a lot to me when I first heard it and still does today. "Live for yourself There's no one else more worth living for..." "I know they've always told you selfishness was wrong But it was for me, not you, that I came to write this song..." It's no wonder all of my ex-girlfriends call me self-absorbed. I love the music of this song, but I'm not a big fan of the lyrics. I personally believe that we have been put on earth together to live together and make each others' lives better and more enjoyable. In other words, ironically, perhaps the most selfish way to live is to be unselfish.
  7. QUOTE (LedRush @ Jul 20 2012, 01:25 PM) In addition to Far Cry, I wouldn't mind if they played MalNar or Main Monkey Biz. Especially if those replaced YYZ. Right on point, except for the part about replacing YYZ. YYZ is one of my top 3 favorite songs and I hope the will always play it on all of their tours, preferably as an encore. I honestly wouldn't mind if they played all of their instrumental songs. I don't know why, but I love all of their instrumental songs.

Why? These things are funny, they aren't hurting anyone? You're not a midget are you? Come on iLuvGeddy05, It's much better to laugh than to cry! I'll take this over the numerous negative Rush Threads here any day. They are creative and humours. At least I think so. I say give us more Yukon Blade Grinder Reports. Since we're not getting anything out of the RUSH camp on the set list and probably won't until opening night just like on The Time Machine Tour. They are funny the first one or two times, yes. But it gets old really fast. I don't come on here nearly as much as "back in the day" (things like this are probably why), so when I do, I want to get the most bang for my (imaginative) buck. Not every single thread is going to be serious and true, I realize, but if I am looking for information on tours, songs, anything NEW, I don't care to click on and through dozens of fake threads to find what is real. Waste of my time. Thank you...I agree completely. Agreed I think that you guys know what your getting when you click on the name. My suggestion--go to another thread and enjoy the forum. That's what is so beautiful about this place--so many options. Wish you Well! QUOTE I think that you guys know what your getting when you click on the name. My suggestion--go to another thread and enjoy the forum. That's what is so beautiful about this place--so many options. The problem with this assumption is that some of us are new to the forums and unaware of your posting habits and history. There is nothing in your post that indicates it is fabricated. I have no problem with the post, creatively or otherwise, but I do think you should indicate somewhere that what you are saying is completely false so that anyone not familiar with the forums doesn't get the wrong idea.
