  1. There are as many tracks on T4E, VT, S&A, and CA as there are on Rush, Fly By Night, Caress of Steel, 2112, A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, and Moving Pictures combined. (49, by the way) Edit: I counted wrong. There were 50 songs on the first 8 studio albums, from "Finding My Way" to "Vital Signs."
  2. QUOTE (GUPower Windows @ Jun 19 2012, 01:04 AM)*The Weapon (Signals) the P/G DVD/CD version so beastly. +1. A stunning work. I can watch/listen to Neil in this video all day. Not only that, this vid is a prime example of why I cannot agree with others in a different thread who remarked that Alex is essentially replaceable by many other guitarists. I'm sure others can cover his parts, but it's his unique textural compositions that makes him one of a kind. His flavor is what makes Rush quintessentially Rush. I considered contributing to your thread, but I'm finding it impossible comparing songs across eras. Maybe I'll do my own era-specific list of faves.
  3. QUOTE (bytored @ Jun 20 2012, 07:09 AM) QUOTE (Chronos @ Jun 17 2012, 11:57 PM) Power Windows tour, Jan. 30, 1986, Cow Palace, San Francisco, Steve Morse opening. We were in the total nosebleed section, um, "wreathed in smoke." Was there!!! Oh, cool! My next show was May 24, 1986, in Sacramento (Fabulous Thunderbirds opening). Were you at that one too?
  4. OMG...I totally forgot about these guys. Get a load of drugged-up yodelist/keyboardist/flautist/whistler Thijs van Leer! This vid is the sh*t. Discuss.

    Tears......

QUOTE (D3strukt @ Jun 19 2012, 03:26 AM) I hear spits of King Crimson in it. Those delicious mellotrons, as well as the vocal melody, are so totally "In the Court of the Crimson King"! It especially reminds me of Epitaph.
  6. Holy Toledo...this is really an enjoyable listen! Highly recommended.
  7. Ok. I haven't explored the radio stations here yet.
  8. All I can make out for certain is something about "gnomic turgidity" and "dragon-tailed paradiddles."
  9. QUOTE (SchemingDemon @ Jun 17 2012, 05:05 PM) Random thought, I finally heard Headlong Flight on the radio here at about 4 am last night. The DJ mentioned how a friend dragged him to a Rush concert last year and he actually loved it, so they're starting to really promote the album here What station?
  10. You're not alone. The Wreckers would certainly hover somewhere near the bottom of my CA song hierarchy, were I to create one. I keep listening to it, waiting to be enlightened. I do not yet see why everyone's going bonkers over it.

  12. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jun 17 2012, 09:18 AM) So, are you working on your own list? Oh god...okay, I'll try to list some all-time faves. I'm excluding Rush, because I'm a hopeless fanatic and almost every album would be on the list. Also, I'm not going in strict order; that's impossible. I will go in approximate order within a given band's discography, however. 1. The Beatles: nearly everything! 2. Genesis: Selling England by the Pound 3. Genesis: A Trick of the Tail 4. Genesis: Foxtrot 5. Genesis: Nursery Cryme 6. Genesis: Seconds Out 7. Genesis: Trespass 8. Genesis: Live 9. Genesis: The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway 10. Genesis: Wind and Wuthering 11. Top 3

In no particular order: Caravan Clockwork Angels The Anarchist Seven Cities of Gold used to be in the top three, but it was recently supplanted by Clockwork Angels.
  14. That's pretty flippin' awesome. Congrats.
  15. I wondered if there was any hidden significance to the name Owen Hardy, and at first blush I thought it was an anagram. An anagram for "honey dew"! My excitement lasted only a second, for I had clearly erred. It's actually an anagram for "a horny dew." Or "Whoa...nerdy." Oh well.
  16. QUOTE (Owen Hardy @ Jun 17 2012, 01:04 PM) Thanks ifloveremains and LyndseyG. It illuminated much of the CA story for me, which I was very interested in learning about, and so I felt folks would appreciate my sharing it. Not to brag but I may be one of the very early Rush fans to find out the protagonists name. Hence my handle when I signed up on TRF this morning! I'm finally here: "On my way at last!" Also discussed here a few days ago: http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?show...7&hl=owen+hardy Thanks for the link to your FB page!
  17. It blew me away to find Anglagard on three separate lists here! Both "Hybris" and especially "Epilog" are among my favorite albums of all time. Can't wait to hear the new one that's brewing...

  19. I don't hear Astronomy Domine, but I do hear the similarity to One of These Days now that you mention it. And then when the heavy guitar comes in at :32, I totally hear Surrender by Cheap Trick.
  20. Sylvania-ish. Kinda near Wildwood. You?
